![]() Hello James, So I read through some older comments and got a general idea that you wish you had the chance to redo the Death domain to make it less undead-centric. And by general impression, I mean you expressly said it several times :P However, there are two Good aligned deities that grant the Death domain: Damerrich who is Lawful Good and Lythertida who is Neutral Good. And while I am absolutely a fan of the idea of good gods of Death, I'm wondering why do they give access to Evil spells that let you create Undead? Would you recommend using the Pharasma-Friendly Death Domain for them instead? I remember reading that Anubis would not grant that revised domain, but I assumed that was because he was Lawful Neutral. If not, so you have any suggestions to a lore reason they would offer such options to their clerics? ![]()
![]() Hello James! I just have a quick question about Separatist Clerics for you. So a Separatist is able to choose one Domain from their god, and one Domain that their god does not have. Does this mean that Separatists can have their second domain be Druid Terrain or Animal Domains? For example, Calistria's sacred animal is a Wasp; could a Separatist who worships him have the Luck and Vermin domains? What about a Separatist of Sarenrae taking the Sun and Desert domains? Or a Separatist of Torag taking Protection and Mountain? If the answer is yes, are there any examples of this written in to the Golarion setting? This seems like it could be a really interesting character-building tool; just wondering if you have considered doing something similar! ![]()

Alright, that makes sense. Do you have any info on stuff in the works for any Inevitable or Psychopomp descended races for Axis and the Boneyard? To at least complete the options for descendants from the Outer Planes? ![]()
![]() Hey James! Got a question for you about planar-touched races. So essentially every plane on the Pathfinder canon has some form of human-that-has-been-altered-by-a-plane race: - The Plane of Fire has Ifrit - The Plane of Water has Undine - The Plane of Earth has Oreads - The Plane of Air has Sylph - The Shadow Plane has Fetchlings - The Good-Aligned Outer Planes have Aasimar - The Evil-Aligned Outer Planes have Tieflings - The Maelstrom has Ganzi ...which is a pretty solid list. However, some of the planes lack representation: - The Ethereal Plane (although since Night Hags are native residents, by my understanding, Changelings could fill this spot if they were Native Outsiders like the others. Doesn't seem to be many other reasonable outsider residents for this plane, so this one kinda makes some sense) - The Positive Energy Plane (Jyoti might be a bit of a stretch with their xenophobic attitudes, but Manasaputra might be more willing to exist around mortals) - The Negative Energy Plane (although since Undead inhabit this plane, Dhampir could be seen as the representatives of this plane even though they aren't native outsiders, especially with their negative energy affinity... seems like a more plausible option than Nightshades or Sceaduinar.) - The Lawful Neutral plane, Axis - The True Neutral plane, The Boneyard Have I just missed the Outsider player races for these somewhere? Or is there a in-world reason that inhabitants of these planes don't have humanoid races? The Ganzi kind of present the idea that energy leeching off from another plane can influence the development of the Materiel Plane's inhabitants, so actual reproduction doesn't seem to need to be a defining factor? ![]()

Ah. That's what I get for not looking at this thread a little more and picking up that this wasn't a rules thread. Sorry :P Looking back at some previous posts, you mentioned you're going though a rough spot. Just wanted to offer some condolences to you. I'm sure constantly answering thousands of random people's questions on here doesn't help with the stress levels. You do an awesome job, I hope that everything starts coming up aces for you again soon! ![]()
![]() Hello James, I just wanted to say, first off, that it's awesome that you keep this thread open for anyone to have direct access to someone so high up in the company. That's such excellent customer service. I don't think I've seen any other company stay this active with their audience. Rock on, Paizo! I just have a rules question regarding Warpriests. There are several deities that have the net as their sacred weapon. Normally, a net can't do any damage at all, and can only be used for a ranged touch attack to entangle. But can a warpriest use a net as a normal weapon using their Sacred Weapon damage? The ability says that it can deal damage based on the table regardless of what type of weapon it is, which leads me to believe that it's not crazy. The ability also states that the only thing it can change is the damage that a weapon deals, so it doesn't seem to be to far of a stretch to assume that it can work for a normally non-damaging weapon. Normally, weapons have a damage dice to roll, a critical threat range, and damage type. Most of these don't pose an issue: the damage dice are provided by Sacred Weapon, a mancatcher is a polearm without a crit range so no worries there, and plenty of weapons don't have a range so it's unimportant whether or not the weapon has one. The only thing throwing a wrench into the idea is the net's lack of damage type. Not every weapon has to do slashing, bludgeoning or piercing damage, as evidenced by the Battle Poi that does fire damage... but every weapon has to do some kind of damage, right? It seems kind of unfair to have the damage be untyped, even if Sacred Weapon is a supernatural ability, since untyped damage bypasses DR. If a warpriest can do Sacred Weapon damage with a net, what kind of damage would the net deal; bludgeoning, peircing, or slashing? Also, how would this kind of weapon work mechanically? The net is still a ranged throwing weapon, so I'm assuming I would either A) deal the damage on a successful touch attack and entangle them at the same time, or B) have to choose between dealing damage *or* entangling the opponent? Would either of these be correct? Would you have to refold it every time you wanted to attack to avoid the -4 to hit? Or can a net just not deal any damage no matter what? Thank you for your time!:) |
