About Dred Delgath

Dred Delgath seeks to crush the heretics of Iomedae beneath his iron fist. As an agent of the high priest of Iomedae, he has traveled to the Stolen Lands to purge the local Iomedaen clergy of corruption. He watches over the land at night - ever vigilant to the presence of heretical behavior. Dred Delgath believes that to defeat the creeping cancer of heresy, one must become the beast that one seeks to slay. Only through the employment of extreme violence can the infiltrating forces of evil and chaos be subjugated. Those who refuse to follow the strict path of Iomedae must be swiftly excommunicated. Those who are evil and seek to destroy the church from within must be slain without mercy. Likewise, Dred shows no quarter to the ex-clerics and antipaladins of Iomedae who have changed faiths. He believes that there is only on true god and that god is Iomedae. To renounce Iomedae is to renounce life - Dred serves as judge, jury and executioner for these misguided souls. Dred believes that paladins and clerics that falter in the battle against evil must be struck down with righteous fury. But despite his callous facade, he is at his core insecure and afraid. He questions if he himself lives up to the standards that he judges others by. Often, during moments of quiet reflection, Dred Delgath is torn by the lives he has taken in the name of his god. The blood on his hands overwhelms him. But, he has sacrificed everything for his faith - there is no turning back now. Ultimately, he believes that the ends justify the means. All must bow before the sword of Iomedae.

Background:

Dred is the son of a paladin. He idolized his father and was crushed when he was slain in the world wound. Without a father, Dred was raised by the local church of Iomedae in Absalom. Within the church he would grow to love both the scripture and the romantic ideal of good versus evil. Dred's outlook darkened when his mother left home to re-marry a cleric of Sarenrae. The double betrayal of losing his mother to a competing faith pushed him to become an inquisitor of Iomedae. Today he fills the void of having no family through zealous prosecution of those whom he perceives to be impure. Dred is a martyr at heart. He knows there can be only end for those who live by the sword.

Dred's prized possession is a silver key given to him by his father. His father only told him to guard the key with his life until he returned. But his father never returned. Now, Dred keeps the key on a necklace around his neck as a keep sake to remind him of his father.

Dred's shaved head and pale complexion give him a severe appearance. He is tall with a large, muscled frame. His arms are tattooed with the scripture of the holy texts of Iomedae.
