The title pretty much says it, I'm going to be playing in a mythic campaign with some friends in the next few weeks and not entirely sure how ling it's going to be (mostly due to my own availability) but while brainstorming my GM and I came up with the idea of being raised by a dragon and trained to slay other dragons.

Our first shot was inspired by an Natsu from fairy tail, a monk of the four winds with plans to go into the dragon style feats at later levels. Looked fun but I don't have much luck with monks (the dice hate me).

But then I was reminded of this old game character and thought it might be really fun. Issue being that the character has the ability to become a dragon and is fairly competent in melee... Magus looked good to start but quickly realizing that melee competency and dragon slayer feats cut pretty deep in the Magus' resources so any help/suggestions/inspiration would be greatly appreciated.

Right now a friend and I are running a (incredibly ridiculous) campaign where we're taking the PC's through the 9 hells. His current character is a magus/arcane archer. He's managed to put dimensional agility to use getting better firing positions and generally annoying the enemy. I'd say it's not a bad match up, though I can already hear the majority yelling about multi-classing magus.

He's using the Myrmidarch archetype as well.

I've played a Magus for quite a while now and to be honest I agree with previous posters, picturing an entire army of them is pretty hard to swallow. I can see a specialized group of them, maybe utilizing dimension door and invisibility to get the drop on enemies while other units draw attention.

Most of my builds now are strength focus instead of dex, mainly because I like the idea of a heavy armored mage and dex builds normally prevent the use of heavy armor later. My current is a tiefling who's taken exotic weapon proficiency at level 3 for a rhoka sword. It has a good crit range and goes from 1d8 to 2d6 just with enlarge person.

I'm not entirely sure what you'd be trying to accomplish with wanting 2handed weapons, but if you're just looking for a boost to base damage maybe create a feat granting magi the ability to add impact to their weapons. This would effectively make a longsword into a greatsword damage wise anyway.
