Likewise; and happy holidays all `round!
Male Human Magus (inactive)
OR we all woke up or something... :-/
Male Human Magus (inactive)
He could be busy with that 'real life' stuff that interferes with all that fun!
Male Human Magus (inactive)
Male Human Magus (inactive)
I'm still here (physically, at least)
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"Sounds good to me. Night, night!"
Male Human Magus (inactive)
Maybe we should just have a snooze for the rest of the night.
Two of our party of five are out of action for now.
So going out for a good wander might not be the best bet right now.
Male Human Magus (inactive)
Back to gathering more information would be good.

Weird! ... My last post didn't appear when I hit 'Submit Post'.
But when I refreshed the screen (F5 on most browsers), there it was!
So, I guess you should refresh you screen whenever a post seems to disappear.
(silly computers!)

I keep thinking of traditional British Public House (pub), with a few rooms for over-nighters, but oh well.
Draalûsh will help carry Karla and Roak out of the Pub so we can get to the nearby inn.
He'll be ready to use his dragon claws in a fight, if needs be...

Draalûsh whispers to Jarek and Hashik: "Probably drugs, not magic. Beware those working here, I say!"
Then a bit louder to the barkeep: "Looks like our friends have had a long day. Let's get them to a nice bed."
bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Trying to act as if he suspects nothing
Draalûsh will try picking up either Raok or Karla, whoever is closer.
AND keep alert for trouble, which seems quite likely now...
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Fortitude: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Hope the chicken hasn't gone off (much)

I say we may as well be in a tavern/pub. Seems to be a good setting for things to get more interesting.
Male Human Magus (inactive)
Apologies for my own absence. Got totally wrapped up in my studies (including three midterm tests), and a couple of fiddly computer problems.
I should be good to go now...

The bag of holding sounds useful
Male Human Magus (inactive)
That's a fair point; cash isn't edible
I'm doing okay for gear; how about everyone else?
Male Human Magus (inactive)
Is there anywhere we can get some useful magic kit?
Other than weapons which we're not allowed to buy, I reckon
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"I'm sure we can all carry it among ourselves somehow."
Male Human Magus (inactive)
That sounds like a good plan
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"The few guards around us, the less likely we are to be recognised in the wrong way!" Draalûsh thinks...
"A generous offer, but we should be good to reach this Carlos on our own."
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"Thank you, oh wise Naxx.
"Our business here is well and truly over.
"We'll just be on our way now."
Like Karla, Draalûsh will step back bowing (groveling, almost)
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"Oh ... Bugger!" Draalûsh thinks to himself as he puts his weapons away.
"Well, *ahem*, yes, O great and powerful Naxx, the thing is all of use are strangers to this place.
"The locals FORGOT to tell us about your august presence, of course.
"Our arrogant doggedness was brought about by our unfortunate ignorance."
Male Human Magus (inactive)
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
How does this look for a marching order?
D=Draalûsh, H=Hashik, J=Jarek, R=Raok and K=Karla.
[-] = a gap of 5 to ten feet from either side.
Sort of a losenge formation where no more than two of us are lined up for a breath weapon attack at any one time. (hopefully)
[-] [D] [-] [H] [-]
[ 5-10 foot gap between rows]
[J] [-] [-] [-] [R]
[ 5-10 foot gap between rows]
[-] [-] [K] [-] [-]

"Presumably, this dragon is licking his wounds in there somewhere.
"Hopefully not expecting us to have gotten this far.
"Should we lie in wait for it, or just go in?
"Carefully, of course!"
Male Human Magus (inactive)
If the mercenaries won't join us, I'm for striking out on our own.
Male Human Magus (inactive)
sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
"I concur. We're more use to each other as one group, not two."
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"Sounds good to me!" Draalûsh says simply to the enforcers.
"Let's follow it, quick like a bunny!"
"Follow our fast tracker yonder!", indicating the now speedy Raok, as he chases after him.
Male Human Magus (inactive)
Draalûsh will fire at the dragon with his long bow
And I have no idea why I kept saying it was acrossbow in my last few posts. :P
darkwood composite longbow (for +2 STR): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
to confirm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
damage: 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (8, 5, 5) + 6 = 24
What a good time for a crit!
Male Human Magus (inactive)
For the moment, Draalûsh will wait with his crossbow and try to shoot the dragon if it gets within range.
Male Human Magus (inactive)
knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 … wooo!
I'm all for following it, not negotiating with it.
In character, Draalûsh would want to settle the score with the dragon.
"Kill him/her before he/she can kill me." sort of mentality.
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"We'd be at a bit of a disadvantage following it, since it can fly.
"But I'd rather not negotiate with it.
"They're a capricious lot, dragons."
"I should know, with some dragon blood in my own veins", Draalûsh thinks.
Male Human Magus (inactive)
Then again, maybe not. Draalûsh will try and see if he can get a fix on the dragon first, before trying to approach it.
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Male Human Magus (inactive)
Draalûsh will come out of cover and try running over to where the mercenaries are fighting the dragon, with his crossbow ready.
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"Sounds like we do have a few options, Hashik.
"Might as well lie in wait and see what happens."
Draalûsh will try hiding himself among the deserted wagons and other gear.
stealth, to hide: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 … if needed
Male Human Magus (inactive)
I agree; looks like they brought along a bag of silver and gold in a bag of holding to use as a dragon lure.
Something that never even occurred to me as a player. Clever!
Not that we had enough among us to try that one anyway.
Male Human Magus (inactive)
Draalûsh will watch the mercenaries with interest.
"Peculiar behaviour, that, don't you think?
"You might think they're bastards, Karla.
"And you may well be right.
"But they're obviously minted!
"Looks like their using silver and gold as a dragon lure.
"Something we couldn't afford to do, of course."
He will also see if there's anything else salvageable from the wreckage of the caravan.
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"Since that dragon is no friend of the consortium, allying with it would be tempting.
"Were it not for the fact it did try killing us off. On several occasions.
"Let's just hope it will make itself available for another donnybrook.
"At least now we know what we're dealing with."
Draalûsh is all for drawing it out and just trying to whack it with brute force.
Relatively speaking.
And as a team effort, of course!
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"It could fly, obviously. It was blue, and small enough to hide under some of our carts.
"The only time it was on the ground was when we flushed it out from under a cart.
"And even then it was airborne soon after.
"Spouted electrical breath, and seemed able to evaporate water somehow.
"It also dropped some sort of animated scarecrow on us at one point.
"Not much useful detail there, I know.
"But we were somewhat preoccupied with it trying to kill us."
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"We just need some tell-tale signs of that dragon.
"Any ideas what exactly to look for?
"Aside from dead bodies, that is…"
Male Human Magus (inactive)
sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 … meh
"Sold!", Draalûsh shouts.
"Business is business, Karla", he whispers to the halfling with a wink.
He then grabs a day's rations and walks up a few yards in front of the party.
He then shouts to the others: "Shall I meet one of you half way, so we know there's no funny stuff from either side?"
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"Don't take offence, Karla. I'm sure he's just telling you you're number one."
Then he shouts at the nearing mercenary: "How much you offering?"
Male Human Magus (inactive)
Draalûsh sits quietly as the mercenaries approach.
Making sure his crossbow is within reach.
He tries to stay alert for any sign of trouble:
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"Well, that dragon seemed to be keen on messing with our water supplies last time.
"Maybe if we had extra water with us as if we were on a long trek, that might draw it out?
"Some bait, of a sort."
Male Human Magus (inactive)
I think it best if Karla and Jarek both go over the wall with the magic weapons.
And the rest of us go through the gate disguised-like.
If that surviving guard did alert the others, a lesser number of us might rouse less suspicion at the gate.
Male Human Magus (inactive)
I think tonight would be best.
The sooner the better sort of thing.
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"Hashik's idea about blustering our way past the guards has some merit.
"But we don't want to spend too much time preparing while the guards are short in number.
"One thing we could do is have one of us whose good at going undetected climb over a section of wall unnoticed with the magic weapons.
"And then the rest of us could follow through a gate without causing suspicion. Hopefully.
"Then we could rendezvous soon after outside the city walls.
"More elaborate, I know, but that would avoid the search for magic weapons."
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"Are there any gates in and out of the city that are not near the main district we can get to?"
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"Interesting plan. But we should probably pick a time and place where guards won't be plentiful.
"Just in case something goes amiss, of course.
"And we do need to make sure we don't look like our now famous likenesses circulating about."
Male Human Magus (inactive)
"If they're short of guards, we shouldn't have too much trouble finding a gap to get out through.
"Or maybe we could try sneaking on an outgoing ship to get clear of the cannons first."
