Holy numbers, Batman. That stealth check should be plus 24, not plus 4. So it is a 42, not a 22.

Quark is not at molecular size, but am very small. I want to still be big enough to interact with the world.

Stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Hide in plain sight

Dr. Quark slips behind the display mount (whatever was holding the mask up), hoping he can avoid the gaze of the supervillains.

Techno Priest beats Siri and Cortana all to hell. I don't know what's going on at the moment. I haven't seen anyone yet. I'm wishing we had just gone ahead and stolen these things and replaced them with replicas. I am going to shrink down and hide on the mask, if someone comes to get it, I will try to hold them off long enough for you guys to give me some backup.

So resolved, Dr. Quark runs across the floor and up the pedestal to the display case. There, he shrinks until the display glass becomes a beautiful crystalline hexagonal lattice and dives through the center of one of the hexes. Once inside, he finds a comfy spot near of of the mask's eyes and waits.

Dr. Quark is eating a tiny sandwich and drinking a tiny latte. He is settled in for a long wait. He is approximately the size of a cheese puff ball and sitting on top of one of the security cameras in the room. When the lights go out, he sighs and thinks, I hate it when I am right

Keying his comm, Dr. Quark reaches out to his team

Hey guys, I'm here at the museum, and the lights just went out, and I hear some strange noises. Anyone flying about who can swing over the Museum real quick and take a look?

By the time Dr. Swift ended wrapped up the field trip and made it back to the offices, the new receptionist had locked up for the day. He went through the motions of entering a code into the keypad, knowing that sensors in the doorframe and the keypad itself were verifying his identity in ways far more complex than a 7 digit number. He took a shower and considered whether it was a better idea to break into a consulate or a museum, and whether he should try to watch the operatives he had observed or just keep an eye on what he thought they were interested in.

He decided he would prefer local crime over international crime.

Team, I think I am going to hand out in the Egyptian exhibit at the museum. Whatever those two were interested in, it seems like a good idea to keep an eye on it. If they are planning a heist or something, it might not help to watch them. They could have a whole group. I didn't see any security at the museum I can't handle. Go on about your business. I'll let you know if anything comes up.

Also, is anyone worried that VIPER is picking off members of our team? First Ares and now Invictus?

Swift dressed in a buttoned shirt he hated and an old pair of jeans. Heroing had a tendency to do bad things to clothes. He headed out the side entrance and hopped on a bus toward the museum. He would wait until the place closed and then make his way inside. Maybe pick up some schwarma at one of the carts outside the museum.

Swift gives the two men a thorough looking over with x-Ray and micro vision as they leave.

Concerned about the men but unable to ditch the students, he moved on through the Egypt exhibit before the boys veered into the medieval arms and armor. Nothing to get a bunch of teenage boys to take their eyes off their phones like visions of mayhem and murder with beautifully filigree.

At the same time as I am babysitting these high school kids.

i can't remember if I know Invictus' secret ID. I know he knows mine. If I do, then I will reach out to Techno Priest and see if he can have any luck getting in touch with him.

Swift backs toward the suspicious pair while talking to a group of students. And these artifacts are some of the oldest Egyptian Artifacts. For a long time, Narmer was the oldest name we had written down for a person, which is kind of cool. Of course, now we know about Atlantis and Predeluvian history, but that doesn't negate Narmer's likely importance as either the king who united the kingdoms of Egypt or at least consolidated the power of the throne. Legends about him being a sort of scorpion centaur or a professional wrestler are, of course, up for debate as to their veracity. Take a minute here to answer the questions on your assignment before we move on..

Swift scans carefully across the room, looking at the room and the men with his micro-vision. He pulls his phone for his pocket and thumbs on his comm. Hey TP, I assume you can look at content on my phone. Take a look at these two and see if they show up in any law enforcement databases.

He shoots some pics of the artifacts, careful to include several shots of the two interesting fellows.

Swift waited until Aurora had her Supes headphones snugged around her head before keying his comm *Priest, this is Swift. I am on the way to the museum on a field trip with the kid, but we have a couple of problems upstairs. I think some fragment of one of those Viper viruses from the chopper hard drive has snuck into one of the modules upstairs. This morning when I asked for a check in with the house security system it turned on the microwave and one of the centrifuges in the lab. No big deal, but we don't want it getting into the MRI or elevator or something.

I figure if TP sets himself up as tech support, he will get lots of annoying requests. At least that is what happens to me IRL.

After an only slightly embarrassing showing at the AEGIS facility, Derek had realized that it could be useful to have superfriends. Considered application of superspeed, superstrength, hydrostasis, nanotech, and a master sculptor, he now had a beautifully finished clinic and modern home. The sign out front said simply and somewhat ambiguously Swift Medical. The facade of the building was a beautifully restored brownstone, but the first floor and basement interiors had all the appearance of a high end medical center. To the uninformed, it might be an exclusive fertility clinic, genetic research facility, or plastic surgery clinic.

And he had a secret entrance into an underground base. That left him a little confused and feeling a bit like a supervillain, but he thought it was pretty cool.

As Tuesday morning dawned, he was unpacking bagels from the closest deli. Aurora was doing whatever it took for a teenage girl to get ready for school. He tried not to pry where it wasn't wanted, and he didn't know much about hair, make up, or fashion.

Good morning, sunshine as she emerged grumpily from her room. He had been making that joke on her name before she could understand it, and he still loved it in a corny dad way.

Errrrrr she replied, doing her best Walking Dead impression, she reached out for a latte and grasped it with far too much pleasure for a zombie. Don't be such a dork, Dad. Especially don't be a dork at the museum today. We had a deal, right

Right, I stay as far away from you and your friends as possible, and I only speak to your teacher if spoken to, and only about myself, not about you

Derek chuckled inside and wondered how embarrassed she would be if he knew he had had several conversations about her with the supers she mooned around after.

Ok, grab a bagel and let's get moving, he said, Don't want to be late.

As they slipped out the alley entrance (the front entrance was for patients) his microvision still showed him signs of where the Eviscerator had been shot three days ago. Visible signs of the bleeding had been cleaned up, but he would need to get some nanobots to take care of the rest. *(For full details of the Eviscerator story arc, see "Dr. Quark" solo title numbers 4 and 5, on stands and ready for download now!)

Derek held the door while Aurora slipped into the waiting cab and hopped in after her.

Yeah, Waveform, just got a little light headed and lost control of the size change. Completely embarrassing, but no need to make a big deal of it. Everything seems to be intact.

Quark rinses and spits onto the ground as he stands back up. A last shimmer of energy washes over him.

Next Gen, we were just discussing whether this might be some sort of diversion from what VIPER is really after.

Dr. Quark turns toward the newcomers, taking in their look and attitude. This is as close as he has been to any of the teen heroes if you don't count the posters in his daughter's room.

Well, we hope to be a team that uses our brains as much as our brawn to ...

the good doctor's words trail off as he begins to wobble disconcertingly at 40 feet tall like a tree in high winds. His suit and skin seem to drip off of him like melting wax as the mass he has added to increase his size becomes unstable. As the goo sloughs onto the concrete, it boils like ectoplasm, disappearing into a cool mist. When the cloud clears, the doctor is on his knees vomiting embarrassingly as his form is crisscrossed with a yellow light that seems almost to stitch him back together.

Hold on a minute, Invictus, if we are just trying to restrain the guy, there is something I have been wanting to try. Where is this guy exactly?

Quark rushed out of the hangar into the bright afternoon. Moving toward Invictus and Golem, he relaxed the spot between his brows where he imagined the tension of shrinking. He knew that his mass changed when he changed size, and that mass had to go somewhere. He had felt out that connection, and believed he could draw mass from wherever that was.

Reaching into another dimension, he pulled matter forth, carefully building his form larger and larger as he moved toward the carrier. Grown to great size, he reached into the transport to grasp the containment pod.

Shadowcaller is a bit of a beast with his teleportation and minions, but is somewhat soft in person. He has a bit of muscle back up in a Genie who is bound permanently into solid form. That guy will be a fire and air brick with a vulnerability to water.

The two of them should be useful in lots of ways. Waveform would make a nice counter to the Djin. Shadowcaller is a servant of Darkness, which ties into Quark's origin and powers. Shadowcaller is the source of The Dustman's origin. The magical aspect might tie nicely into Guardians resident magician once we get him.

Also kids in the sex trade/human trafficking. So that might provide some local villains. Unless that is a trigger issue for anyone? It is an important issue to me in real life.
