"Well, I got my vest, but just the sidearm." Dana shrugs acting nonchalant, but secretly wishes he looked the part better. "We might need to make a stop somewhere. I don't suppose someone has a spare shotgun?" Yeah, Dana might need a camouflage pattern coat and a fishing rod or shotgun to complete the disguise lol.

Once back at the car, Dana answers Joey. "We should watch for a minute. I want to know if that old lady is going to gossip to someone and make sure no one was staking the place out. However," he scratches his head, "We can't just sit here sticking out for miss gossip to spy on."

Figuring Joey's play was to pretend they were distant relatives packing up the apartment, Dana stands near the kitchen and casually asks no one in particular, "Can you hand me that newspaper? I need to wrap these dishes." He then works to control his breathing and listen to Joey work the neighborhood gossip.

Yup. There is always a nosy neighbor, Dana thinks to himself. He looks around at the others wondering how to expert interrogator is. He whispers to them, "She's guaranteed to have useful information, it never fails. The trick is keeping her from getting extra grist for the rumor mill. We have to play it close to the vest."

Accounting 10%: 1d100 ⇒ 50 "Not much to go on in the bathroom. A previous law enforcement agency has already processed the scene. I can confirm a corpse was present for a significant period of time, but I'm afraid that's it." Dana glances about the office. "I'm not much of a paperwork guy, more the biology and chemistry. Have any of you turned up anything important? Has anyone checked the bedroom yet?" Speaking of chemistry, any interesting or unusual medications or prescriptions in the bathroom? I'd guess anything important would have already been collected, but may as well ask.

Dana knows where he is needed the moment the signs of struggle are spotted in the bathroom. Without another word he sets his evidence kit down just outside the door and gathers his tools to conduct a thorough examination of the scene. Forensics I swear I thought I upped it but it's only 30%: 1d100 ⇒ 60

After the brief tour with Mr. Jericho around the perimeter, Dana joins Joey and Ms. Law and follows them up the stairs. He frowns as they climb the stairs and thinks about how many eyeballs could be on them, and would have been on the principal, at a time. Everyone has a peephole, and the sounds of shoes on stairs can echo in the stairwells and landings, drawing attention easily. He shakes his head and at the door to the apartment, pulls a pair of rubber gloves their dispenser in his evidence collection bag. He considers booties, but knows this isn't that sort of investigation. No defense attorneys are arguing against the evidence he analyzes in court for this one. He scans the door and frame for any signs of damage and takes note about the state of the doormat, if any. Attempting an alertness check, want to make sure we aren't walking into a trap of some sort! "Sounds good, Ms. Law has you covered Joey. Mr. Jericho? Let's take a walk around the perimeter and when we get back the four of us can secure the residence." Dana says checking his firearm before exiting the vehicle then waiting for Joshua to join him. "Always keep a buddy in sight." once ready, he walks slowly around the building, keeping an eye out for anything unusual, especially around the windows of the subject's apartment, and the ground beneath those windows.

"We have the apartment key, but can anyone pick a lock? Typically a building like this has smaller mail boxes right by the entrance and it might be in our interest to check his most recent correspondence." Dana scans the scene. "Let's wait for the kids to head down to the playground or whatever and someone should do a quick sweep around the building itself."

"Are there suspicions that he violated security protocols?" Dana asks as he reaches for the file to skim it. He has a dozen other questions, especially about the apparently late Mister Clyde Baughman and how he came to be a corpse, how the company was alerted to the status, where the body is now, and many more. "Was he working any current cases, I mean, missions?" Dana skims the file, and will go back and read it fully in-transit to the site. I'm assuming the address is in there.

Dana just shakes his head no and waits patiently. He is used to sitting quietly and just observing. Hong Kong, perhaps? Given her accent? Not much to go on, but it's a start, he thinks to himself. Employer or not, he always wants to know everything about every principle in an investigation.

"Curses? What, like Jack Russel in Marvel Spotlight #2?" Dana chuckles, assuming Leona just likes to toy with people, or possibly play the cryptic mystic for unknown reasons. Attractive women sometimes like to play on stereotypes about witches. "The last time I was cursed, I was informed by a serial killer's taunting letter. A week later and we caught him. I guess his curse was a weak one."

Finding himself alone at first, Dana pulls out a copy of the latest Lancet and resumes reading an article about hip dysplasia he had started on the flight out of Toronoto. When others finally begin to arrive he notes his stopping point and feigns reading, preferring to observe a moment. Presumably, this is his new squad. The others make introductions, and he remains quiet as the others get comfortable. "Well," he says at last, setting the medical journal down. "It is nice to meet you all. I am Doctor Dana Tremblay. You can just call me Dana. I assume we all have some experience with law enforcement? Don't let my title fool you, I have plenty of field experience." He stands and removes his suit coat. Hanging from a shoulder holster is the standard sidearm of the RCMP, a S&W nine millimeter. Dana cracks his neck and returns to his chair. "I had a long flight, it would have been nice if they'd offered us coffee, huh?"

Eyes: Brown. Hair: Brown. Height: 1.8m. Weight 65kg. Dana is somewhere on the border between attractive and average and dresses professionally and appropriately whenever on the job, which is pretty much always. Dana is 34, almost 35, and is usually wearing a cheap suit and ugly tie, a lab coat would sell the doctor part.

I'm assuming Dana is pretty green overall, still getting used to a lot about this new assignment. I was also keeping him more east coast in background and history. Just in case that meshes with anyone else. Remember also that he was practicing medicine in Toronto, so if Joey, for instance, ever came in with a fresh stab or gunshot wound, then its possible to have met him there. I know the intro post specified the date as being before the meeting, but I jumped right to heading to the PO, hope that is alright.

Dana got off the bus in front of Courthouse Park and scanned the area looking for the post office. As was typical, he was about twenty minutes early for his meeting. He was wearing a simple gray suit with a hastily tied paisley-patterned tie in an unflattering color and carrying a common type of suitcase in black. Style was never much his thing, that was more his brother's forte. Dana entered the post office and approached a clerk. "Doctor Trmeblay for the Comptroller," he said presenting his most current credentials and using what his mentor termed, "your police voice," firm and clear and confident. He was slightly uncomfortable destroying his old ID badge and current orders, but a lot of this new detail made him less than comfortable, so this was not a new sensation. Besides, he was still a Mountie. He was just investigating far different cases than before.

BTW, that "Raccoons" show is available on Roku channel. I'll watch a few episodes sometime soon just to have an awareness of the cultural aspect of Canada in the 90s. Unfortunately, the biggest exposure I have to Canadian TV is "Corner Gas" and "Trailer Park Boys" lol. I've dotted into the GP thread, making tweaks to the alias. I copied gear effects from the sample characters, but made up an evidence collection kit. I'm assuming it would provide a bonus similar to the medical kit for forensics, what do you think GM?

Most of my numbers are updated and alias is more complete now. In the process of googling things like "Canada doctor education requirements" and "Canada east coast medical schools" to get fluff nice and accurate. Off work tomorrow, so will finish up everything fully then.

Mechanical stuff is done in my notes, I just need to transfer the rest to the alias. Otherwise, I still need to figure out gear, but that is pretty simple (sidearm, doctor's bag, maybe a vest I keep in the car). I have a rough sketch of the fluffier stuff (and motivations/bonds are in alias now), just need to expand it out and do some simple research.

This is dickie's still quite unfinished alias. Yes, I figured since it was a gender-nuetral name that I would stick with Dana to help remind me who the character is. Are we assumed to be new agents or veterans? In other words, are we required to take one of the traumatic backgrounds? Any other info you'd like in the class/race line? Finally, just to make sure I am reading it correctly, the profession skills replace the base percentages, but the bonus skills add to the base percentages? |
