Liberty's Edge

Awesome! Thanks for the replies and I will look into maybe multiclassing

Liberty's Edge

I know it seems like a strange question, but is it possible to make the Savage Technologist work in a no guns campaign? Maybe with Elven Curve Blade and Composite Longbow?

The str/dex raging really fits my character backstory but I can't change class features per GM so if I take it, I take it as is in a gun less world.

Liberty's Edge

Great! Thank you for the explanation!

I guess that means no urban for me. I liked the idea of magus and bard spells, dex raging, and giving the extra save dc to others in an area of effect, but increasing the save dc by 2 and getting the str bonus still makes this much better.

Thanks!

Liberty's Edge

I'm sorry if this was already answered since I could not find it.

I am wondering about how a temporary Stat increase would affect an ability with a saving throw dependant on that ability.

Specifically I am wondering about Bloodrager's rage and Staggering Strike from the Aberrant Bloodline. Does the save DC go up when you are raging or is it based on your base constitution bonus?

I am wondering because I am torn between regular Bloodrager and Urban Bloodrager.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Liberty's Edge

Hello everyone, I posted this in the Pathfinder Reddit group also, but trying to solicit as many opinions as possible!

I am making a new character and I could use a little help. I am making a goliath druid and we are starting at level 10.
Now more than likely I would use dwarf because I like the idea of a giant slaying dwarf, that turns into a giant to infiltrate the enemy. I am also open to other races that might work, like Half-Orc, Oread, or Half-Elf(cannot be human)

Besides the race, my biggest problem is weapon and possibly multiclassing. I was considering adding a level of Ranger with Shapeshifting Hunter because my character has a deep seated hatred of Giants, and thematically favored enemy would seem to work. The problem is that I need to wear stoneplate, so would fighter be a better choice for the multiclass? Just 1 level gets me heavy armor prof and an extra feat. Maybe Barbarian because I was considering the Rage Domain anyway(no animal companions)?

I am also lost on weapon. Since my size will be increasing, is a regular 2 hander fine a la falchion, or should I still be considering a reach weapon?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Really, the only four requirements are: Goliath Druid, Non-Human, Stoneplate and no more than 2-3 levels outside of druid.

P.S. I cannot take monk since the Stoneplate is a baseline requirement for the build.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick response. I told you I am terrible with specifics, I completely missed that part! Thanks for the heads up!

Liberty's Edge

Epsilon, I appreciate your explanation, but I have difficulty with specific rule terms, I just want to ask 2 quick questions as a follow up to your post.

If I take 1 Wizard(Illusion)/7 Arcanist, then I would have the swift action invisibility available normally at wizard level 8?

Also, does this negate the School Savant archetype(since you'd need to pick the same school?) or make it stronger by allowing you to pick a different school from the original? (wizard illusion 1 and arcanist 8 school savant shadow) getting both level 8 powers?

Of course all above questions assume you take school understanding.

Thanks in advance for your time and help!

Hello everyone!

I have a character I have been playing and I love him, but I am a little unsure what to take for his next feat!

He is a Crossblooded Sorc 1(Elemental-Water and Efreeti)(mainly for the character flavor and concept)/Dual Cursed, Spirit Guide Oracle 6 of the Dark Tapestry.

I took Consumed and Blackened as my curses, and I have Gift of Madness, Many Forms, and Interstellar Void as my Revelations. (not counting my spirit guide)

My current feats are Divine Protection, Noble Scion of War and Extra Revelation. My traits are Northern Ancestor and Reactionary.

My main stat is Charisma at 23.

I was thinking I could grab another extra revelation and get fortune/misfortune, or maybe a metamagic(likely Silent or Still) or maybe even spell focus. I didn't think I would need improved initiative since I am at +16 right now.

Any suggestions? From the feat list or from my list above?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I can improve my trip ability with Maneuver Training too to make it better. I had picked that spear because it was finessable, but maybe I could use the feat I was going to use on EWP on reach instead and trip with my unarmed attacks?

The only thing I worry about with trip is that I am a small size and that will make it very tough for larger enemies, and I don't want to enlarge because that hurts my dex and attack. I had planned on disarm, sunder and grapple instead.

But reach only works when I'm attacking so now I'm back to square one. I hadn't really planned on worrying about reach as much because pummeling charge would get me to the person right away, but I do see it can be super valuable for AoOs.

Liberty's Edge

I'm using an agile amulet of mighty fists for my unarmed strikes. I already have weapon finesse as my lvl 1 feat. And a +1 agile elven branch spear can be used for my AoOs.

Im going with dex because of goblin racial adjustments. Highest dex I can have is 22, but highest str I can have is 16 at lvl 1.

Liberty's Edge

That's a great idea! Add 1 Elven branch spear and combat reflexes for great AoOs!

And as wonderful as steel breaker sounds for DR, I'm going to skip it since Pummeling Charge should help me get past DR.

I agree that Mutagenic Mauler seems like the easiest way to go, but I agree with Secret Wizard that hurting my will saves is the last thing I want to do. Especially since my DM loves will save effects.

Secret, I am only taking Dragon Style for the charging terrain and through allies, not the damage. With 8 of us in the party, charging through allies is going to definitely help!

Awesome advice! I got a no go on oversized goblin, but I am now focusing on the Pummeling style and just unarmed BF at the excellent advice here. Since we are starting at 6, I grabbed piranha and weapon specialization.

I was considering taking 2 levels of monk for moms for the Dragon charge benefits, is that a good idea? It helps will saves and makes it easier to use BF.

One other advice question is kind of something I read differently than another player. For steel breaker, exploit weakness says monk level, but martial training only says you're a monk for feats and items. By my understanding, that means my monk levels don't stack with my brawler levels for the ability, but my buddy was saying they did. It confused me to say the least.

Oh, I did actually have another question. Since I'm using a dex build, is mutagenic brawler a good idea over martial flexibility? I get great extra damage, but I'd lose the step up feats I was planning on taking with flexibility.

Thanks again for all of the great advice! I'm definitely using it.

@Cavall I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Wouldn't taking TWF just be one feat? Or were you considering down the line with Improved TWF? Since I would have to take that also since I wouldn't be using Brawler's Flurry? I definitely understand what you mean about it being a heavy investment for one attack, but the bonuses to that extra attack seem huge as I get down the line.

@CapDarling Since we have to take goblins, I was going to go with a dex build with piranha strike. And I thought if I did my attacks as Unarmed/Unarmed/Bite with TWF that I'd get full benefit since unarmed never counts as offhand?

And let me just say thank you very much for answering my post and for the advice you guys(or ladies).

Hmm, maybe I should ask if I can just go with another class, this martial stuff is way more complicated than straight spellcasting. It's the same reason I always avoided a Magus!

Liberty's Edge

Hello,

I was creating a Brawler character and looking for a bit of advice. I have never used a martial, almost exclusively being a spellcaster in the past.

I am using a goblin(goblin campaign) with a bite attack (Hard head, Big teeth) and I noticed you cannot BF and do your natural attack(bite). But you CAN TWF with unarmed strikes and then use your bite. Since you will always have that 1 extra attack(albeit at a -5) isn't it better for a brawler to use TWF and the bite than to use just BF?

At lvl 5, it'd be:

BF +3/+3
TWF +3/+3/+0

(if I am understanding the mechanics correctly)

I am putting this in advice because I am curious what the benefit to using BF is, it I am giving up an attack every round? Is it just the feat cost for having to grab the TWFing feats?

Am I totally heading down the wrong path?

Thanks in advance for advice, this martial stuff is complex!

Awesome! Thanks very much, I appreciate the answers. I considered the Mindchemist, but it'd need 2 levels (but oh boy double int to knowledge? Wow) and I really only wanted 1 level.

The best part about this is that it is like infuse mutagen without the int damage or 1000g cost. Plus having a quick 10 minute mutagen AND a more long term one has endless applications.

Thanks again for the help guys!

Liberty's Edge

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm guessing since there was no answer, this might be one of those grey areas no one is sure of?

Hello! I have an overlap question about an investigator with a 1 level alchemist dip. There was another thread about it, but it dealt only with extracts and I didn't want to ask a completely different question there.

If I have an Alchemist 1/Investigator 3, I know I only have a mutagen good for 10 minutes. But if I take the mutagen investigator talent, does that mean I now have 2 mutagen? 1 at 10 minutes and 1 at 30? Or do I have 1 40 minute mutagen?

I wanted the alchemist dip for bombs, but this question is bugging me.

Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question with an easy answer (like my last one) but I just wanted to be sure. Thanks in advance for any answers!

Liberty's Edge

That's too bad about elemental, but it would still be character appropriate to have elemental cold and efreeti. Marid definitely wouldn't make sense for his background.

Thanks for the answer! I really appreciate it!

Liberty's Edge

I'm sorry if this has been answered anywhere, I have been searching all day and couldn't find an answer.

I was wondering if a crossblooded sorcerer can take 2 elemental bloodlines? For example, elemental fire and elemental cold? It's for a character concept.

I'm making an ifrit who was raised in Irrisen by his mother (a winter witch) and he wants to follow in her footsteps. All the rest of his levels will be oracle (winter or waves), but when he casts a blast type spell there is a 25 percent chance it comes out as fire and a 75 percent chance it comes out as cold.

With both elemental bloodlines, it will ensure I can do that random roll every time, since the two arcanas support it.

Is this ok? And thanks in advance!

Liberty's Edge

Excellent! That's exactly what I was looking at and thank you very much for pointing out the difference. I was really confused when I saw that and that clears up everything!

Thanks Sniggevert!

Hello all, I recently played a pregen in a higher tier game and I am applying it to my lvl 1 character. I was told at the table that I will earn 500g, but looking at the PFS guide, it shows I should have earned a different amount.

My question is two fold:

1.What is the right amount when applying the xp to a lvl 1?

2.If it is higher than 500g, can it still be corrected or is it too late?

Thanks in advance for any help!
