Warpriests are not proficient with whips, and at 1st level they can't take the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat as it requires BAB +1. So a 1st level warpriest using a whip, a weapon with which he is not proficient, takes a –4 penalty on attack rolls with the whip. Yet, at 1st level a warpriest receives Weapon Focus as a bonus feat, and he can choose any weapon, not just his deity’s favored weapon. So, what happens if he chooses whip for Weapon Focus? Do the –4 penalty for not being proficient and +1 for Weapon Focus add, for a total of -3? Also, whips deal nonlethal damage, and no damage at all to any creature with an armor bonus of +1 or higher. What if the warpriest designates a whip as his sacred weapon? The weapon damage should be based on his level and not the weapon type; but is it still nonlethal damage?
Apart from the Pathfinder Module "The Harrowing" and the Pathfinder Society Scenario "Portent's Peril", are there any other modules where the harrow deck (or a special deck of cards, for 3PP modules) is the main part of the adventure? APs that use the harrow deck as a optional subsystem do not qualify.

I know. But I plan to adapt this scenario for my campaign, where my PCs are supposed to see it, instead.
I'm a bit confused about "The Hunt". Encounter Metrics says the encounter distance is 3d6 x 100', which means minimum 300' (page 38), and initiative should be rolled immediately and no surprise round happens (page 37), so I assume no chance for the PC to get closer to the elk using stealth. But if the elk is 200' away from the PC, then it will have succeeded in escaping (page 37 again). So the encounter is concluded even before it actually began... What am I missing?
A pinned creature can still take verbal actions, he just cannot cast any spells that require a somatic or material component. But the combat maneuver is not meant to grapple the spellcaster (so no –4 penalty to Dexterity and –2 penalty on all attack rolls, for instance), just to shut him up to avoid him to speak (so not only he can't cast, but he can't even call for help). How can you do this following the Pathfinder rules?

There are also no rules to teach feats, magus arcana or inquisitions, yet this is what some of the sellers in this book do. And since they are sellers, I assume they sell their knowledge. Sadly, no price is defined.
I'm a bit confused about the Greater Status spell from the Pathfinder Chronicles - Campaign Setting. According to its description, it is from the Community domain only (no other cleric can cast it!), but the Community domain as described in the Core Rulebook doesn't even mention it. I am failing to understand if the Greater Status spell is an "official" Pathfinder spell or not. Any insight is much appreciated.
Paulicus wrote: it protects against extreme temperatures, but it mentions Endure Elements. That's exactly one of my points. Endure Elements protects from hot environment up to 140° F, but according to the environmental rules the damage you get from Sirocco is from very extreme heat, with air temperature definitely over 140° F.
And I am the one GMing both of them, and I keep on claiming that harmful vapors and gases are, for instance, those from cloudkill and stinking cloud effects, as well as inhaled poisons (see Necklace of Adaptation). Sirocco is just furnace-hot wind that deals fire damage. Even the list of highly toxic gases on Wipikedia does not mention hot wind among them! :-)
Thanks for the excellent suggestions. I did not even think about implementing the Dance of the Burning Blades, which is definitely a must. I had thought to have a feast with some stalls, including beverage and meals, but I have to admit that providing Burning Beer, cookies shaped like scimitars and meals with fiery spices is a great idea that will add the right flavor. Maybe I will add few games for the PCs to occupy the time, and a puppet show detailing Sarenrae's defeat of Rovagug (my only other previous idea). The release of hundreds of paper lanterns will close the celebration, I really like the symbolism you suggested. I was quite afraid about the celebration, but now I'm sure my players, and the demanding cleric of Sarenrae, will love it. Thanks again.
One of my PC is a cleric of Sarenrae. They are currently in Magnimar and the 10 Sarenith is approaching... The cleric player is expecting great celebrations for the Burning Blades, the religious holiday held on 10 Sarenith in honour of the goddess of light. Which roleplay activities I could prepare? How to involve the other PCs, too? Also, I'd like to (slowly...) introduce my PCs to the Dawn of the Scarlet Sun module (they already know there is a succubus in Magnimar). Any suggestion is more than welcome. |
