About Dominic Pizzaro

Character Profile

Spoiler:

Italian-American, 25 years old
Church Scholar and priest
Drive: Duty

Occupational Benefit: Special: By using Theology or Reassurance you can gain access to church records not generally or easily available to the public. Mere clerical status does not guarantee you access to the “Z” Collection in the Vatican Library or similarly secret archives, of course, although a sufficiently grandiose spend and a kindly Keeper might make such a thing possible.

If you identify yourself as a member of the clergy (or are wearing your traditional garb), once per game session you may freely refresh any Interpersonal ability pool by talking to one of your co-religionists (though not a fellow Investigator).

Psychoanalysis is not one of your Occupational abilities. You make Psychoanalysis tests for Psychological Triage (see p. 79) at a Difficulty of 3, instead of 4.

A priest can bless holy water, save the souls of the dying with extreme unction, use crucifixes to fend off vampires, and even
exorcise demons (though not the entities of the Mythos) in a contest of Stability against the demon’s Health. Other clergy may have similar ritual powers. This benefit is dependent on the campaign frame (see p. 204).

Pillars of Sanity

The Roman Orthodox Church is everything to me

Crespo Valdali tooe me from the streets and made me his son.
My Grandmother Lousia's stories kept me grounded and fascinated as a youth.

Background

Spoiler:

Had a nice history all typed up, but the character creator ate it. In summary...
*Moved to NYC as an infant from Sicily
*Parents were ner-do-well alcoholics, and connected with the mob
*Grandmother Louisa was his home guiding force
*Anatoly Dudko, stood up for him in a neighborhood scrap, and became his mentor.
*Met Father Dudko through Anatoly, who introduced him to the church.
*Dominic snitched on his folks for a petty crime, and his Grandmother took the fall. His parents sent her back to Italy, and young Dom was left to fend for himself.
*Through Father Dudko, Dominic was taken in by a disabled policeman, Cresop Valdali, who raised him as his own son.
*Dominic became a rising star in the church, and was sent to serve an apprenticeship in the Vatican Library.
*Dominic just finished his 5-year appointment, and was trying to decide whether to devote his life to the scholarly pursuits of the Church, or take a more hands on approach, and enter the priesthood.
*He received a telegram from Father Dudko, mentioning that he hadn't heard from Anatoly for several days, and he was concerned about the company his nephew was keeping... and even the status of his soul.
