I just wanted to report back to you guys that gave me some advice on my build for the Jade Regent.

I changed Toughness to Combat Reflexes and went with the rest of it. I've been very happy with how he's turned out. He's no power house of damage but he's very difficult to put down. i avoided the power attack and dazzling display since our resident Barbarian is doing that route and i didn't want to step on his toes.

At 5th level i'm running with a 25 AC before Combat Expertise and around 60 hps. He doesn't really do much damage but he's able to stand in the fight and hold the line while the Ninja and barbarian run around crushing everything. when 6th level hits i cant wait to take improved disarm, we seem to be fighting a lot of things that wield weapons and i think disarm will help the party even more.

It's been a real challenge since our group has no dedicated healer but we're making it work.

Aside from enchanting a weapon for an element, is there any other way to get flaming or shock on a weapon? I mean with an item or spell? We're finding that we don't have a ton of cash right now to upgrade items and were looking at smaller daily or one time use items. I can't seem to find any in pathfinder.

Also, is there a weapon enhancement that will increase my CMB for disarm attempts?

thanks

Thanks guys!

One reason i went with CON over strength is we have a greatsword wielding barbarian in the party. So even with weapon specialization there's no way i'll come close to his damage output each round.

STR Ranger....this is exactly the path the barbarian has taken! we are 3rd level and he already has a few of the feats you mentioned and has been using the intimidate thing pretty well so far.

I thought the disarm would help against wielding opponents but no one has really used this before in our group so i don't know how effective it would be.

You dont think it's worth it to focus on crits with the katana that has such a high crit range? I was counting on that to help me do some damage in melee.

I was hoping to avoid save feats if i could since i can reroll will and fort saves but you may be right that it's worth it early on.

Hola all. I'm putting together a Samurai for a Jade Regent game and I'd appreciate your advice. I usually play rogues or clerics so this is kind of a change for me. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm going for a durable fighter type who doesn't deal as much damage but can really take the punishment. We were given the epic point buy for our builds. I'm planning on all samurai levels. My goal was high AC and a focus on Crits since i'm using the katana

Human Samurai

STR 15
DEX 14
CON 18
INT 13
WIS 10
CHA 10

Feats:
Bonus Human Feat- Toughness
1st - Weapon Focus Katana
3rd - Dodge
5th - Expertise
6th - Improved Disarm
7th - Outflank
9th - Improved Critcal
11th - Critical Focus
12th - Bleeding Critical
13th - Staggering Critical
15th - Critical Mastery
17th - Stunning Critical
18th - Improved Weapon Focus Katana
19th -

I took the improved disarm to help me against anyone who wields and is doing big damage to me. Hopefully disarm them and have them reduced to natural attacks or at least and extra attack as they pick up the weapon. My brother is playing a ninja and we're both taking outflank at 7th to help with hitrolls when i'm using Expertise.

I'm just kind of stuck on what to take at the highest level. I know i could the Fort or Will save feats but they seem wasted at the higher levels were i might get a buff from the party cleric or use a magic item.

How survivable does this look in the long term?
Are there any other feats that could help with my AC?
Any other suggestions on making him last in the fight?
Do you think the feat that gives +2 on rerolls is worth it for a Samurai? i have at least one or two abilities that allow me to reroll a dice.

thanks again
