Hello friends,

I live in Reading, PA and have been looking for quite some time now to start or join a regular Pathfinder Game which I hope will be long running. I've been gaming for over 25 years and have played every version of D&D from the blue cover Holmes edition to 3.X. Haven't tried 4th edition. I have the Pathfinder RPG and a host of support materials for it including a HUGE 3.X collection. I'd like to host the group and have the space to do so, but I'm willing to travel if I can find regular game with fun people who enjoy a good time playing RPG's. I play other RPG's like GURPS, Traveller and a host of others as well.

Hope to hear to from you all soon.

Thank You.

Still here friends.

Now, I love the Pathfinder Adventure Paths, and the Pathfinder Modules are cool, too. But don't you think there's a market for a monthly (or bi-monthly) magazine with three or four shorter adventures for differing levels of play? Many of these could be written by freelancers or newcomers (giving another way of discovering new talent, in addition to RPG Superstar). I'm sure Paizo has the skills and experience necessary to produce such a publication, and I know that I'd subscribe from issue #1! Perhaps it could be called Paths Magazine?

How about a bi-monthly online pdf magazine you can download. It can be called, Gamemaster, targeted at DM/GM's with 3 or 4 short adventures and GMing advice the GM who's short on time but long on passion.

Are you still looking for gamers?

I'm in Reading, PA

Have you not seen this?

I'm absolutely looking forward to the TV series. I'm just worried about the game. Maybe it'll see new life once the tv series comes out....in 2009 (God, I can't believe I have to wait that long).

It's now 2010 and we're still waiting.

If you like I'd be more than happy to provide that proof, but this board is not the appropriate venue (don't want to be accused of thread jacking). But if you like I can send you my email address and we can correspond. I'd be more than honored.
Sure, my email address is newmanb2@hotmail.com

I was addressing Xpltvdeleted but okay Lilithsthrall I'd be honored to share the Gospel with you as well.

:D

Your holy book calls homosexuals "abomination" and calls for them to be stoned to death. I would say that that falls into the category of hate speech and should be censored.

Here's a thought, lets have the Bible burned, as a matter of fact let's burn any book that even mentions the word God in it or Jesus. Is that really what you want?

Xpltvdeleted wrote:

Until then stay out of my space and quit trying to indoctrinate my children by way of public schools...religious views should not be endorsed in a government sponsored forum...period.

Then you'd better go to Washington, DC and start tearing down every religious reference to God on the monuments and buildings down there. And have you looked at your money? It says....drum roll......in God We Trust.

When I mentioned earlier about the intolerance and ignorance of some gamers, I wasn't kidding. This is not an attack on you friend, I'm just trying to make you see that the bogeyman Radical Christians coming for your children does not exist. If it did, there wouldn't be anything you could do about it. The way said movement is described by some we would all have a real nightmare on our hands with a well funded, well armed and fanatical group which is backed by millions who would turn this country in a real theocracy. But rest well, that "movement" only exists in the minds of those who line their pockets daily with that kind of fearmongering.

Fear for profit is nothing new.

I have no problem with anybody practicing whatever faith they want. It's the proselytizing that evangelicals are so fond of that I have a problem with. Christians have waged war against non-believers for centuries and now that society has reached a point where non believers can voice their dissent, it has become a war against christianity.

Believe what you want, just keep it out of public school, tone down the hate speech, and stop trying to convert everyone you come across.

"proselytizing" or should I say the preaching of the Gospel is not the same as making war. And as for keeping my beliefs out of public schools (funny how you believe it's only public for some) you first.

As for so-called "hate" speech, now there's a phrase often used to censor people some don't agree with. As as for trying to convert everyone we come across?? What would you do if you believed in something that could not only help people but save their very souls. What good is it claiming to believe in something that benefits all mankind and claiming to love humanity and then selfishly keeping it to yourself. Would you do that?

LilithsThrall wrote:

As a gay man, I've always found it funny when evangelicals talk about how people aren't open minded towards them.

People in your camp are a big reason why people like me are second-class citizens.

As an evangelical I can tell you people in "my camp" have nothing to do with you being considered 2nd class citizens. An honest look on your part at history and the Faith would clarify that for you.

Decrepit DM wrote:

In the eighties Dnd was assailed as the gateway game that would lead us all to devil worshiping. For those of us who were unlucky, we not only played the game, but also happened to listen to the second threat to our souls, Ozzy Osbourne. The rarer few like myself, who listened to even worse bands like Slayer, were considered damned beyond all hope.

I know it sound like a joke now, but for the fervent of the time, it was a full time business. Those of us who were identified as RPG'ers and listeners of such foul music were really unfortunate because we were constantly assailed by people wanting to save us. We did our best to avoid them, but in the end we had to endure endless lectures denouncing our deeds and pressing us to help them find their savior.

So I was just pondering with a smile... Now that I play pathfinder am I redeemed? Is part of my soul cleansed now that I do not play Dnd?

Now that I'm thinking about it, do any of you feel any holier now that you play pathfinder? How many of you managed to play Dnd and not fall victim to Satan? Or, maybe, just maybe, is this some grand devils conspiracy meant to rope in another generation of youth?

Hmmm… I think I will have to go consult some goat entrails and my Ouija board to find out =)…

While I did experience some who saw D&D as Satan's Game there were far more people who felt it was just a game and nothing more. But what I've found surprising is how many gamers who are supposed to be so open minded and intelligent turned out to be more narrow minded about the Christian faith we evangelicals practice without giving us so much as a chance to explain it. Not for nothing, as they say in my neck of the woods, New York City, but I think if one claims to be oh so awfully open minded one should listen and not judge before one has heard the whole story. Otherwise one is just and "intolerant" and ignorant as those one is pointing at.

Just my 2 cents.

Pathfinder Movie??
For what??
Has anyone seen the D&D Movie!!!
Talk about awful!! And they had the nerve to make two of them.
Naw, some things are better left undone.

There's a 3.5 and Pathfinder version if I remember right.

The thing is I remember seeing something a bit more basic a few years ago. It was like one or pages.

Hey All,
Recently I found myself drafted into running an off the cuff D&D 3.5 game for my daughter, her husband, my niece and her fiance. It was supposed be a one shot just for the helluvit game. But now they're hooked and they want to play more. Now except for my daughter they are all rookies. So I was hoping you guys could direct me to a D&D 3.5 Cheat Sheet. I know there used to be one but I can't seem to locate it. And I remember that cheat sheet being very helpful. Can you guys help me out here in locating it?

Thank you.

How cool is that and as has been mentioned. Not riddled with cliches. It might help cast the hobby in a new light. I hope.

There are reasons, why cannibalism, no matter the justifications is considered despicable by just about every culture on Earth that managed to drag itself from savagery. From strictly utilitarian and morally relativistic standpoint, the reason is such: customs or beliefs that endorse ritual cannibalism or, moreover, attribute some benefits to it (such as "transerring eaten's heroism") create additional incentives to, you know, kill people around you. Therefore, while I cannot speak for other people's settings, in my own eating sentient beings is evil, period. Religions that aren't outright evil condemn such practices (evil religions quite often specifically encourage eating enemies, and promote beliefs about absorbing their strengths by eating them, because hey, making your dupes damn themselves by committing atrocities, and chaining themselves to you by adopting universally feared and reviled customs is like killing two birds with one stone) as do major cultures.

This is frankly over simplification.

A foundational element of one of the largest religions in the world is a form of symbolic ritual cannibalism. It is catholic dogma that the waffer and wine of the Eucharist literally transubstantiate, becoming the flesh and blood of jesus. While other christian sects may not beleive in the literal transubstantiation, they mostly do still perform the symbolic canibalism of jesus when undertaking the Eucharist.

I have to agree with FatR, cannibalism is evil. Sometimes the truth is that simple. Nuff' said.

Interested??

Dude,
I am sooooo with you on this. I just wish more of us had the guts to speak our minds on this matter. I'm sure you and I are not the only ones who've taken issue with how Kumbaya'd D&D has been made.

Steven Tindall wrote:

I just want to rant for a quick moment about how sick I am of Politically correct D&D.

First it was Wizards are over powered and they make the butt hurt fighter class feel bad, then it was the clerics that were overpowered cause they could cast spells in armor(OMG!!) then so as not to leave well enough alone lets make sure the druid is nerfed as well cause they can shape change and they make fighters feel bad too.
Maybe it's just my group but we have players that enjoy playing johnny swing-stick and UGH-smash fighters simply because they do not have to have a complicated character such as a wizard or spell caster.
Now that the new Master craftsman feat has been introd. they are chomping at the bit to play a fighter that can do what brunar battlehammer did and make their own ageis-fang type weapon. I would like to say as a player of spellcasting charecters how nice it is to no longer have to take craft arms and armor to keep the fighter types happy.
The language of the game changing to make female pc's feel more welcome was one thing even though the druid in our party says she cant let her daughters read the books because they teach incorrect English, the male pronoun of he is the correct generalization in literary terms.
I can understand some modernization of the game, gone are the days of the bare breasted succubus in the game books or the fully anatomically correct incubus. I am just sick of the fantasy being co opted by political correctness that says everyone MUST be equal no matter what.
I want items that are class only again, with the right feat my mage is wielding a holy avenger and with the right feat the rouge is using the staff of power or the staff of the archmage.
I guess that I can sum up my rant by siting the old adage "if everybody's special, nobody's special" or something like that.
Anybody else wanna rant and rave about PC D&D go for it.

Where is it???

I can't seem to find it.

Can someone post a link?

Thanks.

I guess you are right. I don't hate Paizo or the guys there for what's happened. But once Dragon and Dungeon are gone I'm done. And as for WoTC and D20 I've had it as well. There's only so much crap one can swallow before it makes you sick. My patience has finally run it's course. I've had other issues with WoTC (not Paizo) some having to do with their writing and editing decisions.

But best of luck to Paizo and all.

Deimodius wrote:

DoctorRomulus, I'm sure when you made your post above, you were as upset as I when i started this thread. However, I also recently recanted a little and apologise (hat in hand) to Paizo. this is not their fault, this mess lies squarely in the laps of some nard at WotC.

Paizo _could_ have thrown up their hands and called it quits completely, leaving us only with whatever drivel WotC spews out of their gluttonous gut next (maybe we need a WotC monster for the new Pathfinder series?).

Though I regret what I said in my first post about Paizo, I should think that the extent of my anger only demonstrates how in love I have become with the magazines. Paizo took something that was already an institution in the D&D world and made it flat out more amazing that we could have imagined. THAT is probably the real reason that I am so angry with WotC, not just because we are losing a piece of D&D history (did WotC just bring out a big book celebrating that history?) but because the content, artwork, editorials, and graphic design of our favourite mags has been top notch or more for the past 5 years.

So, Doctor Romulus, don't hate Paizo, hate WotC.

In fact, I suggest we all use our accounts on the D&D boards to encourage all the noobs (and WotC regs alike) to come over to the dark side and check out Paizo, where the _real_ talent lies. Players who appreciate all the talent (whether it be fluff or crunch) from Paizo will convert, those who don't, well, they will likely leave WotC for whatever the next great MMORPG will be.

I am going to DL the submission guidelines for GameMastery and give them a look. I was all ready to write an adventure for Dungeon, but now I will have to turn that creative drive (potentially) to this new product. And as far as monsters go, really, the list of monsters we _can't_ use is rather short. Besides, as a community, I'm sure we can come up with something better than WotC.

Up with Paizo!
Down with Wizards!

Deimodius wrote:

WotC can kiss my &%%. Paizo, you suck too. I will NOT be following this new Pathfinder crap, I don't care who is writing it.

Dragon and Dungeon are institutions, for Pelor's sake!!! How could you all do this?

I will keep playing D&D, but I will not buy WotC products again, nor will I buy anything from Paizo.

Over-reaction on my part? Some will say yes, that's their opinion, but this is just horrible.

This is a sad day.

I concur 100%.

I have had it with WoTC, Paizo and Hasbro.

My money will now be going elsewhere. And I don't think it's an overreaction at all. And WTF is "Pathfinder" a sad ass attempt to cover their asses. And as for going "online" they can shove it where the sun don't shine.
