Thanks James for the game. I really enjoyed your work.

Be well.

I wonder. DM might be taking a break. I'm still there and up for it.

Same here. Don't mind either way. Whatever is best for the story.

Djal throws his arms up in the air. That cute adept will just have to wait...

"Right. Let's get on with it then. We leave the artefacts here, kept safe, and we go smell some old musky tomes!"

Please note that I'm going on a short trip for four days, with very little Internet access. Please bot me as needed.

"I still say we head there tomorrow. It’s near, I know, but it’s night, or nearly so."

Djal averts his eyes. Swearing oaths was not his preference. Plus, he knew very well how often oaths got broken. Still, these guys seem to mean what they said. A dangerous thing, really...

"As long as they are within our possession, we swear to seek their destruction!" he swears back.

"Well, we rest first, then head for the Scriptorium, right? How far is it? Remember we have a target on our back..."

Djal thinks of the young apprentice with a sigh. The barracks made more sense, but...

"Yes, as Brother Theodor says, the gauntlet is of massive size. In fact, it gave us quite a chill when we realized that we were searching inside of it. It is bigger than this fort! Just the gauntlet!" adds Djal for effect.

Djal follows the group, keeping close to Zdravko in case he gets them in trouble again, though he keeps agreeing for good measure with the berserker: "Yes... Right... Absolutely! Yes... Right? I feel the same way... If only! ... Oh look, here we are!"

As Theodor negotiates their entry, he light a pipe and takes a long pull, trying to relax, to no avail.

"Yes, let's hustle!" says Djal and starts jogging after Theodor.

"Madriel as well!" replies Djal, smiling at Theodor. "We leave them here. We need to move on and fast. who knows how many of those have been set loose upon us?"

Just to clarify for future fights (not sure whether you know, but from the description, I would assume no. Slashing flourish lets me do damage to two, despite having hit only one.

-Slashing Flourish. You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cause the weapon to deal extra damage to the target you hit and to any other creature of your choice that you can see within 5 feet of you. The damage equals the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die.

Djal winces at the sight of the paper or the pain in his side, or probably both, and says: "Kay...
There's a target on our back... Either we play defence and keep to shadows, or perhaps hard light instead? Or we find every Spiragos fan-Halflings out there and bring the fight to them. what do you say? Regardless, I just want to deliver this as soon as possible! And Theo? Could you please ask your god to show compassion for me?"

"Bloody Titans! You almost took my eye out, you miserable TITAN FANBOY with your fake swords!" shouts Djal, visibly shocked and intent on killing the both of them before they do him in.

Rapier: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 131d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Dagger: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 231d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Use bardic inspiration: Slashing flourish to deal an extra 1d6 ⇒ 4 damage to the two Halflings attacking me.

"You guys are some fans of titans? You all have nice coordinated suits! Where do you buy those? Do you get a discount for bulk buying? Or perhaps your mothers sow them for you? these patches look flimsy, and there is a gap- HERE! in the leather. Perhaps they don't love your cute faces as much as they should?" taunts Djal as he dances back and forth, while stabbing at the two.

Rapier: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 181d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Dagger: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 151d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Use bardic inspiration: Slashing flourish to deal an extra 1d6 ⇒ 1 damage to the two Halflings attacking me.

"Fair enough..." says Djal at Heroiel, then turns to Zdravko and adds with a calmer voice: "Sorry about the temper flare. I'll just feel better once our delivery is done."

Djal follows in Zdravko's wake: "You know, perhaps I should start charging you for all these times I have to get you out of trouble. I mean, try to aim right at least, and not in sight of the Law, if possible. You're some kind of brain, aren't you? Well, make a better show of it. You're having me fooled..." Djal nags, not too happy at the tension in the city and focused on getting rid of their negative cargo.

Please note that I'm going on vacation starting tomorrow, with much fewer opportunities to post reliably. Please bot me as needed.

"My kind of people!" says Djal with a grin and, curious, checks with a wave of the wrist whether these troubadours used magic.

Cast Detect Magic

Djal offers to carry the small sword, quite happy now and looking forward to the evening. "Right. Let's deal with those first. No point in getting money if we can't spend it, yes?"

"Yes. That's the thing. We noticed those artefacts have a corrupting influence on their owner, or carrier in our case."

"Theoder, now you look like a proper defender of the faith! What a nice gesture!"

As they prepare, Djal keeps an eye for the novice he made blush the day before. If she shows up, he'll have a chat with her and offer to meet with her for a walk later today.

Djal nods and rises with the others: "Very well, we will follow your wise advise. As soon as the letters of change and introduction are drawn, we will be on our way. How far is it? Will we have time to reach it and will they let us stay the night? I noticed the gates are pouring and we might have a hard time securing lodgings. Could we impose on the church for the night? We could go at dawn, after prayer..."

Djal blinks incredulously at the Curate, then at Theodor: "Look. It's been hard; finding and bringing these artefacts here... Can we not leave them to you? I mean, you could go and see the Commander, no? ... Wait. I'm- I apologize. Yes, we will go see the Commander. With the item. After you've given us the letter of change."

Djal smiles: "Sounds good Zdravko, but please just wait a bit. Perhaps the Curate has suggestions as well? I was under the impression that you guys would know what to do with these items, perhaps take them from our hands? And perhaps even reward us for our efforts?!" and he turns to Theodor, whom he believes alluded to this possibility.

Insight: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Djal notes the hesitation, but otherwise remains silent, wondering what the Curate could have meant by it.

He watches the Curate's face intently, for the pleasure of watching it unfold with disbelief when Theodor will drop the punchline about the Gauntlet...

Djal followed Theodor. This was too critical a task. He acted as the priest's bodyguard on the street, keeping an eye out for trouble. When they reached the church, instead of relaxing, he got more anxious. There was a new arena he knew nothing about, not the rules, not the players, and not the stakes. He hated it, felt exposed.

So when Theodor spoke, he just played nice and tried to look at ease, flirting.

The Curate put him on edge; a man of power, dangerous, in his own ways.

Thanks for the heads up. Have fun!

Djal smiles at Sister Bernice as though she was the last woman on earth.

"Great! First church then drinks."

Djal looks at Lhienne, gives her a warm smile and embraces her: "You've done more for this cause than any of us could. I cannot imagine the toll this has taken on you. I can only hope that our paths cross again, in better days." he tries not to cry, but his eyes go wet.

He turns to the others: "Zdvrako, Heroiel, it is time we let you know what we've really been about. To be honest, what we do is lucrative and works towards making this world a bit better, but it is high risk and taxing. We could use your help. If you're intrigued, then we can meet once our task is complete, over drinks perhaps, and we can tell you our tale, and our purpose?"

Returning to the city were he was born brings Djal into a shiny-eyes kind of mood. Nostalgia creeps in and he quickly forgets the wonders of the outdoors in favour of the smelly bustle of the city.

He quickly realizes that, even in the short span he had spent away, fashion at shifted slightly. He made a mental note of going shopping very soon.

He also wondered about Lady Dulcine, and about the wicked Valan, those who made him, in a devious way. He would look for the latest rumours about them shortly.

Finally, there was the weather they had encountered and the influx of refugees.

He needed to find the center of the web of information of the city, and soon!

But of course, there was the urgent matter of those ignominious artefacts. The rest needed to wait, a bit.

"Right then! To the church? Or is it more complicated than that?" he asks.

"Ahahah! Zdravko, you sound just like the guard- Wait, you sound EXACTLY like the guard! Can you sound like Brother Theodor?!" laughs Djal, happy he's managed to cut the price down slightly.

"Still, fifty is hefty..."

Djal, getting the drift, gets into a very tenuous arguments about every single small fee invented for the guards' purpose, while in truth, what he's doing is negotiating the price of the bribe down.

Persuasion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Djal follows the others for now. He thinks of what has just happened. But a few days ago, he would have been unable to just walk up to the front, let alone fight his way forward. How much adventuring had transformed him!

As the questions are fired, he turns to Theodor, the most authority-like figure among them.

Calm emotions has a 20-ft radius, so others may have to save.

"He's with us, and we'll take care of him. I assure you, let him go and we'll make sure he stays put."

"Everybody Calm Down!" shouts Djal and he uses his magical voice to good effect.

Cast Calm Emotions, Chr save DC 14: you can make a target indifferent about creatures of your choice that it is hostile toward. This indifference ends if the target is attacked or harmed by a spell or if it witnesses any of its friends being harmed. When the spell ends, the creature becomes hostile again, unless the DM rules otherwise.

If the spell seems to work, Djal tries to get the group to hurry forward. "No shoving!"

"I can't believe it... I was so certain that damned rain was only falling on us! But look at that. Are all those people victim of the rain? I could go and talk to a few people, see what the story is..? Anyways, I'm so glad to see those walls again. FEELS GOOD TO BE HOME!"

Zdravko wrote:
In the same annoying nasally voice "My mom always said I was really good at making friends." now that he mentions it, it looks like his mom dressed him too...

Lol!

"Right then. Let's pick those up, mend our cuts, then be on our way. Brother, I can help with the healing..."

He then hums a soft ballad that reminds you of home and loved ones. His cuts mend somewhat.

Cure at lvl 2: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (1, 3) + 4 = 8

Djal blinks at the others, trying to take in the new information: "Well met! I think this beast would have been the end of us... To answer your question, Heroiel, I guess it's the middle of the wilderness that brings us so well-armed and armored?! As for you, Zd- Zdk- Zdravko, I'm sorry for your notes and your abacus, oh yeah, and I guess your friend as well..." He makes a mental note that the man will likely come to the rescue of his belt buckle before a companion...

"Right, Brother, I could use your healing! And as Zukhan has said, Fangsfall is our destination. We wouldn't mind sharing the trail and its deadly dangers with the two of you!"

"Good timing, friends! Looks like your might is what may turn the tide! Now, let's kill it quick, for I already miss my dagger dearly!"

Using Defensive flourish: +1d6 ⇒ 2 damage and AC.

Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 201d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6

Hi guys! Welcome to the game!

"Damn it, I said fast!!?"

Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Dagger: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 61d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Makes sense. Do you want us to ask in our other games?

"Bloody Hell!!!" curses Djal as the Titanspawn proves to be the most lethal reature he's ever faced.

Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 61d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Dagger: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 131d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

"We need to bring it down fast!" he shouts to Zukhan, imparting him with inspiration.

Zukhan gains bardic inspiration for a d20 roll (+1d6).

You could recruit for both, leaving options for potential candidates?

Djal's eyes grow wide, witnessing the beast's savagery. He knows there is only one way to survive this...

Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Dagger: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Please note I'll have very few opportunities to connect in the coming days. Please bot me as needed.

Djal has mixed feelings during the trip. For one, he loved being outside, far from cities, keeping it as simple as possible. But then he also hated what the elements had been pouring over their heads.

After four days, he has had enough. This was not The Wild, as he imagined it. It was Titan Country. The land had been changed. He wondered whether nature would one day be able to claim the land back. Perhaps through their work...

When the creature attacked, he was lost on thought and failed to react in time. Cursing, he shouts at Lhienne for support while drawing rapier and dagger to attack the monstrosity.

Bardic Inspiration for Lhienne. She can add 1d6 to a d20 roll of her choice within the next 10 minutes.

Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 161d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Dagger: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Agreed. I feel the same way.

"Can't believe I'd once feel glad for rain. Whoever said that everything is relative had sure spent some time under the Bloody Rain! Say, Lhienne, your mounts looks like a titan's riding it..."

"Be well, travel friends! We'll take you up on your offer if we pass by the inn." says Djal as he lifts his kit and prepares to set out once more.

"Right. Let's clear some distance before this nasty rain resumes!"

Can we consider this a short rest? If so, Djal will use his ability to give an additional 1d6 ⇒ 2 hp to everyone.
