About DharatatakBackground:
As a child of the slums of Sharn, Dharatatak’s youth was characterized by violence and the everyday struggle for survival. The first instinct you learned in this setting as a Goblin was to run and hide. However his keen wit and fast reflexes helped him to maneuver this dangerous terrain. A latent talent for manipulating magic to do his bidding helped the young Goblin in rising above the muck of lower Dura and establishing a career as a con artist. However as it tends to go for those who cannot get enough Dharatatak risked too much in a heist and ended up in prison. Awaiting a quick sentence on a noose Dharatatak found himself approached by an Agent of the Citadel offering a deal he could not refuse. The Dark Lanterns were seeking able men for a dangerous recognizance missions in Droaam and a Goblin seemed inconspicuous. After a short briefing Dharatatak was enlisted and sent off to Droaam, still in chains but an Agent of the Citadel none the less. When he returned to Wroat two months later and with detailed information on Droaam troop movements Dhartatak received a badge of office and was trained at the Citadel for almost a year to acquire the status of a full-fledged agent. While the Goblin already knew the ins and outs of thievery he received special training to better use magic both to harm and to obscure. His next mission lead him to Darguun where he was to aquire detailed information on the power struggle going on between two major Clans and perhaps help to tip the scales in favor of the Razektu. Coming to Darguun for the first time was quite the experience for Dhratatak. While he had heard much talk of the Goblin Empire in lower Durra he had never cared for matters of politics or developed a sense of pride in Goblinkind. While goblins were respected as specialists in Darguun it was still the Hobgoblins who commanded over them and the life of a mouthy Goblin was worth just as little in lower Dura. With his mission almost completed Dhratatak could not resist the temptation of acquiring a souvenir. Havkalaz a warlord of the Ratzatak whom he had been serving owned a special blade of black metal which he kept in a prized vitrine within his private chambers. Ever since he had first laid eyes on it Dhratatak had wanted it for his own. But the deed did not go unnoticed and soon Dhratatak had Silent Wolves on his heels who were hustling him through the outlands of Darguun. Somehow Dhartatatk managed to make his way out of Darguun in the belly of a ship; however once he was discovered there he was chucked overboard by the crew. After all a Goblin aboard is bound to bring bad luck! Unable to swim he was lucky enough to catch a piece of driftwood. When finally washed ashore weeks later, half dead, the Goblin special agent found himself on a remote island somewhere in the Lhazaar principalities. With no traveling papers or letters of credit to his name returning to Wroat was going to be quite the task. What made matters worse, there was a constant Goblinoid voice in his head babbling on and on about the greatness of the Goblin Empire. And Dharatatk has slowly started to realize that it has something to do with his new shiny black blade. Cinematic Background:
It was a humid summer night in Ironwork’s mansion. Only the Dwarven families soft snores could be heard when all of a sudden there was a crash. Metallic barks could be heard in the night and Berbas head of the house stepped into the hallway his massive crossbow loaded. There in a corner of the room a small spindly figure clad in dark leathers was being hassled by his newly purchased wardogs. A sense of pride fulfilled the Dwarf as he yelled: “BRUNHILDE! CALL THE WATCH!” --- The badly battered form of a small creature with large ears hung limply at the wall as Major Stort stepped into the cell. A lesser man might have turned back at the smell but he’d seen the battlefields of the last war for many years and nothing would ever shake him easily. “Da…ar…at” the man attempted to pronounce. “DRA-TA-TAK. It’s not that hard. Last thing you can do for me is to pronounce my name right on my execution.” the limp form replied with vigor as it raised its head beady red eyes eying the Major in the gloom of the cell “I’m afraid that will have to wait. Your country, BRELAND needs you Dra-ta-tak!” --- Personality:
Dharatatak is a greedy bugger. Striving for material gain and status is what motivates him. He took great pride in his work as a crook but now is equally proud of his status as a Dark Lantern. While nominally he serves Breland, and Dharatatak is of the opinion that it's a better place than most, ultimately he serves himself. While there is no place for cruelty and malice in his soul Dharatatak is ruthless when it comes to achieving his objectives. He knows that those who do not seize opportunity when it presents itself get stepped on who do. Having grown up in lower Dura he has learned that for a Goblin to achieve anything in life being deferential to everyone is a necessity and being a smart little Goblin he has learned how to play nice around the big folk. Dharatatak possesses good manners and a command of language that denies his humble upbringing. Around big folk he will usually let them speak first but will speak his mind clearly and enjoys getting into arguments as he has learned persistence pays off. Appearance:
Dharatatak is of average size for a goblin. Meaning a bit taller than a Halfling or Gnome, but still small even by Dwarven standards. He is spindly but moves with the grace and speed of a cheetah. His skin has the standard ruddish green brown tone typical of Goblins and his hair is an unkempt mop of scroungy black. His truly defining feature is a set of especially long ears that hang from his large head as do those of a dog. Dhratatak's garb is guided by necessity. He tends to wear dark tones under which he hides a shirt of fine mithril, a gift he received as part of his promotion into the ranks of the Dark Lanterns. Crunch:
