About Derden
Mikael ‘Nail’ Downder is a great grandson of one of Galt’s deposed lords. Living on the outskirts of what amounts to ‘civilization’ in Galt these days; his family made their way as bandits and sellswords, proudly wearing the parade armor of their fallen house and always staying one step ahead of the ‘revolutionaries’ who never stopped hunting them. Nail’s father was amongst the first of his family to tap into the legacy of rage that had lain dormant in their line since forgotten barbarian ancestors had carved out lands and titles in what would one day become Galt; the man was berserking a terror with his horsechopper and young Nail practically worshipped him. The family prospered and even dreamed of rallying enough enemies of the current state to take back control of the country, hopes that were dashed on the day of rage. Baited into an ambush by a particularly canny Galt militia captain, Nail’s family --man, woman, and child-- were slaughtered; leaving Nail alone to rage hopelessly against his foes’ overwhelming numbers. But in his fury, Nail called out to something from beyond the material plane, a faceless being baring the distinct pattern of his family’s parade armor appeared on the battlefield and fought at Nail’s side. Between the new summoner’s rage and the unexpected arrival of the summoned eidelon, the pair were able to defeat the ambush. Never particularly clear about its origins, the newly arrived being simply called itself ‘Hammer’ after the first weapon it had ever wielded. With the rest of his family dead, there was nothing to keep Nail in Galt any longer. So, with new powers, his father’s Horsechopper, and the deliberately uncleaned parade armor splattered with the blood from the day of rage; Nail and Hammer set sail for Absalom to find their fortune and worthy battles. What they found, was the Pathfinder society.
