Demidian,

Chavali looks pretty solid. Good job! I just have a couple nitpicks.

I don't see a languages spot...am I overlooking it? I'm assuming she knows Common and Varisian.

Her ranged combat section should have a +3 attack mod for thrown dagger, and please also add a line for her dart attack.

One other minor discrepancy...I figured Chavali would have 14 gp and 5 sp left over when her equipment was purchased. I think our 2gp difference might be on the cheap perfume. How much does that cost per dose (and what is the source? I only see Common and Exotic perfumes listed in the CotCT players guide.)

Other than these small things, she looks really good. Thanks!

Fixed everything. The cheap perfume was the common perfume from the Player's Guide.

Here is my character:

** spoiler omitted **

It seems as you haved used a 32 point-buy for your character, mittean.

In Cry's first post he said we should use 28.

Interesting character-concept by the way :-)

For Wellard:

Spoiler:

Better be friends than rivals -girls have to stick together ;-)
But I think it would be the best if we just know each other from sight without knowing the name or personality of the other at the start of the game.

Do not forget the half-orc barbarian! It is a very interesting and well-balanced party so far: a barbarian, a druid, a sorcerer and a rogue.

Ok, I've just finished my character.

Chavali Toroda, female human rogue 1

Stats and equipment:

Spoiler:

Str: 12
Dex: 16
Con: 12
Int: 12
Wis: 8
Cha: 14

Feats: Exotic Weapon Profiency (bladed scarf), harrowed

Trait: Love lost (her father Camlo Toroda), +2 Bonus on Perform (dance)

Skills: Balance +4, Bluff +6, Diplomacy +6, Escape Artist +6, Jump +3, Knowledge (local) +5, Open Lock +6, Perform(dance) +8, Search +5, Sleight of Hand +6, Tumble +6

Equipment: scarf (bladed), scarf (pocketed) (contains thieves tools and darts), scarf (reinforced), leather armor, thieves tools, dagger, darts (3), entertainer's outfit, belt pouch (contains flint and steel, small steel mirror, tindertwigs and perfume), flint and steel, small steel mirror, cheap perfume (5 doses), tindertwigs (5), vial of acid, 16gp, 5sp

Background:

Spoiler:

Chavali was born the second child of Camlo and Lymkala Toroda, a pureblooded varisian couple living in a small tightly-knit varisian community in the city of Korvosa. Camlo worked as a tailor and specialized in the colourful scarves that the varisian people are so fond of.
When Chavali was 12 her mother died in childbirth, leaving Camlo Toroda a broken man. The quality of his work also took a heavy blow and the family slowly descended into poverty. Three years later Camlo Toroda was knifed to death in a dark alley.
The three Toroda children, Chavali, her two years older sister Tauni and her 12 years younger brother Pais, were on their own. Chavali's older sister remained at home to care for their baby brother and tried to earn a few coins by sewing, but the main task of feeding the family was left to Chavali which she managed by performing dances, pickpocketing and con artistry (sometimes all three at the same time).
Recently her older sister was married to a promising young wheelwright named Catro, who also welcomed her brother Pais into his family.
Since now she had only to finance her own needs, Chavali had time to spare and began investigating her father's death. A few weeks ago she found a ring for sale at a local merchant that once belonged to her father. The merchant told her the name of the man from whom he purchased the ring: a man named Gaedran Lamm. Since then Chavali is obsessed with finding Gaedran Lamm and avenging her father.

Physical description and personality:

Spoiler:

Physical description:
Chavali is 18 years old, stands 5'7'' tall and weighs well-muscled 112 lbs. She possesses deep olive skin and long black hair that she usually wears loose and a fierce light in her dark eyes tells anybody looking at it, that she won't give up under any circumstances.

Personality:
Chavali possesses a passionate temper. She is swift to anger and holds grudges, especially if someone says something against her family.
Numerous harrow readings early in Chavali's life (while her mother still lived, who was skilled in the ancient art of harrowing) hit the mark precisely, leading Chavali to the firm belief that she is destined for a specific purpose in life and that this destiny will reveal itself through the Harrow.

For Cry:

Spoiler:

Is there a small varisian district in Korvosa as the one I have in my background?

For Andrea:

Spoiler:

Maybe Andrea and Chavali could know each other from dances?

I have decided to play the varisian rogue. Will the "harrowed"-feat from the CotC-player's guide be allowed in your game?

Thanks! So the party composition looks like this at the moment:

mittean-(human)knight
Demidian- half-orc cleric
Lazaro- half-orc barbarian
Wellard- half-elf sorcerer
metagia- half-orc druid

Lots of half-orcs and no rogue. Is anyone going to change their concept? If all the others are going to stick with their concepts I think I will change my character to a female varisian rogue with a bladed scarf :-)

It's be amusing not to have a rogue in the group. But I also think a party made of half-orcs is amusing too. Maybe a half-orc rogue?:)

Well I wouldn't mind playing a half-orc rogue, but I think in an urban setting it would be good for our group to have someone with good social skills. And somehow I cannot picture a half-orc smoothtalker ;-)

But I'm open for suggestions.
Since there is more than one half-orc anyway maybe they could have a shared background or even be siblings (... mmh half-orc twins...).
I think I will wait for the response of metagia and mittean until I make the final decision what character I will play :-)

On second thought I would like to play a dumb-but-brave half-orc cleric of cayden cailean :-)

I am also very interested in a PbP in either Golarion or a Sinister-Setting. I have never played this way before but I'm willing to learn ;-)
There are two character-concepts I wanted to play for a long time, one a frail human sorcerer, the other a halfling fighter but I'm willing to play anything that fits with the rest of the group and the setting :-)

My sidecart reads like this:

You have 2 items waiting to be shipped when Pathfinder #10—Curse of the Crimson Throne Chapter 4: "A History of Ashes" (OGL) Print Edition arrives at our warehouse:
• Pathfinder #10—Curse of the Crimson Throne Chapter 4: "A History of Ashes" (OGL) Print Edition
Paizo Publishing, LLC 1 @ $19.99 $13.99
• Pathfinder Module W3: Flight of the Red Raven (OGL) Print Edition
Paizo Publishing, LLC 1 @ $12.99 $11.04

I have selected "Wait for my pathfinder-subscription" for shipment. I had the same problem once before. Thank you for helping :-)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If the mechanical aspect of this scene is so important to you, just hint at the PCs that the commander of the Sable Company gets a special gift from his predecessor when receiving his bagde of office: a greater slaying bolt (human) that was first gifted from Waydon Endrin (founder of the Sable Company) to the commander that came after him together with the words: "If evil will ever claim the throne you'll know what to do."

A low- to mid-level aristocrat or bard should not be able to make the 23 Fort save, so your PCs will hopefully come to the right conclussions.

We have a female halfling ranger in our RotR-campaign that is a real "killer queen" (maxed out favored enemy "giants" and giant bane longbow).
I don't think the 3.5 ranger needs a large power up. Especially the archery combat style is extremely powerful since a D&D-archer is more versatile than melee-combatants (just keep a few bane-arrows of the most common creature types in your quiver).

My sidecart reads like this:

You have 4 items waiting to be shipped when Pathfinder #9—Curse of the Crimson Throne Chapter 3: "Escape from Old Korvosa" (OGL) arrives at our warehouse:
• Pathfinder Chronicles: Classic Monsters Revisited (OGL)
Paizo Publishing, LLC
Preorder - expected April 2008 1 @ $17.99 $15.29
• Pathfinder #8—Curse of the Crimson Throne Chapter 2: "Seven Days to the Grave" (OGL)
Paizo Publishing, LLC
Preorder - expected April 2008 1 @ $19.99 $13.99
• GameMastery Module W2: River into Darkness (OGL) Print Edition
Paizo Publishing, LLC
Preorder - expected April 2008 1 @ $12.99 $11.04
• GameMastery Module D3: The Demon Within (OGL) Print Edition
Paizo Publishing, LLC
Preorder - expected April 2008

I selected the "wait for pathfinder AP-module"-option and would like to get PF #8 as soon as posible, so could you send the 4 items in the sidecart now?

I have one question regarding the crossbow mastery feat: Does a ranger that takes the feat instead of manyshot at 6th level need to have the prerequisites of the feat or not?

Btw: Great product :-)

I'm really interested. Ranael@gmx.de
thanks :-)

The whole adventure is fanastic! I would even say: This is the best adventure I've read up to date.

My goup will start next tuesday:

-Chaine, male human beguiler (varisian)
-Mordar, male human rogue (varisian)
-Restlin, male human duskblade (shoanti with fey heritage)
-Iason, male human cleric (chelaxian)

Still Waiting. I'm from Germany.

I have no access to the pdf either.

Any thoughts on making the cover-art of Dungeon 150 into a Dungeon Memorial Poster? I would buy it without a moments thought :-)

Just read through the PDF-Version of Crown of the Kobold King. A very fine adventure with many remarkable encounters I think my players will never forget (especially Jeva and Glintaxe). Brilliant work Mr. Logue!

Will there be Blog articles about the two missing iconic characters (elf rogue and human cleric if I remember correctly) before D0 and D1 are shipped? My Players will be using them for D0 and D1 and are anxious to see the storys (and pictures!) of the missing two. Especially: which gender will the elf rogue and human cleric be?

I second that.
I'm planning to run Rise of the Runelords via the fantasygrounds-software and player-maps like those in the dungeon online-supplements would be of great value to me.

Will Hollow's Last Hope include pregenerated characters?
