Delmar calls out the crews with a good dash of tongue in cheek "You heard the captain, now get to back to work slackers. The world seems much the same on this side as the other they even have seagulls here." Grinning Delmar starts moving amongst the crew giving the sense of confidence.

I am happy to continue but have to say I am having trouble getting motivated with the speed things are going. I have to admit that is as much my fault as anyone else's. I had been waiting for the captain to say something regarding the current situation, but probably should have given up and posted anyway.

Having finished writing Elwood's last will he hands it across for him to make his mark and collects his own giving it to a crew member to take ashore. Last Will: I, Delmar, do hereby loan all my worldly possessions to the ship and crew I was aboard when I died. Further I would ask that when these possessions are finished with that they are returned to their true owner the Great Ocean, Maitre Mer. The only exception is that I ask that the letter in the bottom of my backpack is delivered if that is possible. "Now Master Markley are you ready to jump into the water?" Once Elwood give his consent Delmar will cast 2 spells first resulting in Delmar's feet becoming flippers and webbing between his fingers and second doing the same to Elwood. Touch of the sea. Delmar then dives into the water and checks the bottom of the ship for any damage or potential problems.

Delmar continues without expecting Lucille to reply. "The worst is I don't think it'll make any difference, Mage Swurn will be making excuses for everything in his head as we speak. I've met people like him before, nothing is their fault always have an excuse." "I have been on ships without discipline, and it is bad a ship like that can kill the whole crew. I just wish there was a another way." "That and now I'm first mate. I don't want to let anyone down. I don't know how long I can stay. Maitre Mar may call me away at any moment. Although I think I might be here for a while until IT comes from the depth, I think that is why I'm here." Delmar falls silent looking across the waves into the distance.

Just made a couple of observations. Firstly I seem to have made a character with little motivations or goals other than being nice. Leading to little conflict and thus not adding to the story greatly. Any advice on fixing this is welcome but I'll try to address it myself. Secondly Lucille Bluth is not getting much airtime, largely because she isn't near anyone else and isn't a very social person. That said I think she would make a great barman or priest like character to talk to about what is frustrating Delmar and confess sins to in here confessional in the sky. Lucille if you have a problem with this let me know.

Delmar sighs and picks up the whip a turns to Gjurn and aims carefully at his back. I am assuming that I don't have to roll to hit an unmoving target, if I do I can recon this. Also I believe a whip does 1d3 nonlethal + strength but I don't have my books with me currently. Non-lethal whip damage 1: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Total:4 After each whip Delmar will look to the doctor before applying the next. I'll roll damage until he is down to 4 hp or less left, tell me if you would dirrect me differently Non-lethal whip damage 2: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Total:8
"Now Mage Swurn you had better get your self cleaned up and then get to preparing your magic and coming up with strategies I expect to see you back on deck with in 2 hours." Delmar waits until Gjurn leaves deck before going to Elwood and handing him the whip. "Yours I believe Master-at-arms." Delmar then turn smartly and goes to the main mast and starts climbing the rope ladder. When he gets to the crownest he climbs in sits next Ms Bleth his head in his hands.

Delmar steps fowards "I would like to speak both for and against Mr. Swurn if that is alright Captain?" "Firstly I have to say that Mr. Swurn is one of most knowledgeable and finest sailors I have sailed with. There is much I, and I suspect several others, could learn from his experience. He has been used been used to be captain of his own vessel it may take him time to adjust to his current position." "His past position should have given insight into the importance of showing the captain the respect he deserves. A few days ago I would have agreed with Mr Markley's assessment that Mr Swurn was a disrespectful but well meaning crew member, however he has been warned repetitively and patiently, in difference to his experience, that his actions were out of line. This moves his actions to me from merely poor social skills to open insubordination." "Mr. Swurn responses this morning have disappointed me, or more to the point his attitude has. Rather than spending his time thinking about where he has gone wrong he has come up with flippant excuses." "As to punishment, I believe Mr. Markley is quite right that a lashing is unlikely to change is attitude however the purpose of punishment is not just reforming the punished but also to deterrence. The choice of punishment is of course your Captain."

I would suggest that his problem appears to not knowing his place or his fellow crew. He believes himself to be better than the rest of us put together. I would suggest reducing him back to an ordinary sailor. Working along side the rest of the crew and sleeping with them he might learn how excellent they are."

Additionally I am going to be away at a conference this weekend so might be little out of communication. I give the GM permission to run Delmar if required.

The rest of you bring out the fishing lines." Delmar will supervise for a little to make sure everyone knows what they are doing. Then disappears into his cabin and returns with a spear. He then climbs down onto the water which he stands on as if it were solid ground. He waits patently for a fish come near the him at which point he lashes out the spear, sometimes hitting and sometimes missing. After the fishing is finished Delmar supervises them storing them in the hold. He will stay down there for a while casting Purify food and drink on the stores.

The best way I can increase our speed is to upgrade the sails. Now that will take to bulk of the funds I have been assigned. With the remaining finances I plan to buy tar, timber, nails, rope, tools etcera for repair work and potentially further upgrades that I am able complete myself if dock somewhere quiet later. Delmar has been scurrying around the ship making nots and making measurements. After hearing the comments from Graskkator, he waits for a moment to talk to him privately Graskkator One-Eye: and then a little louder Sir I am no expert at naval combat so I would like your advice. Would attaching a ram be of benefit to you? May I suggest Captain that light can be provided by spells and an ever burning torch or 4 and we save oil for cooking and heating this should save us quite a lot of weight for only a little more cost. That said we will need a lot more oil for cooking and heating

I'll look in what the local artisans can do to the ship. Delmar turns to Gjurn You are a Mage sir? There is a low levelled spell that might be useful that increases a artisan's skill. Are you able to learn it? If there is a cost involved I am happy to assist in this.

Having now written the background I like the idea of him being haunted by his real parents who are trying to help but really get in the way. which would explain why it becomes a benefit latter. So I'll make the switch particularly because I can see being deaf a huge annoyance.
   oops correct account now

Maitre Mer has brought me to the RSS Paradiso to serve where I can. I am an experienced captain but understand that some might have problems with a deaf captain so will serve on such a trip as Botswain or Ship's surgeon/Carpenter if that is what you need
