Deirdre glances around the corridor. She is concerned for the missing guard, but she knows better than to try to go off on her own in the middle of a prison break. Hoping they’ll be alright, she turns and hustles to rejoin the rest of the crew,
Yes, a big GM post indicating where everybody is would be helpful. I know my flashback roll was a failure, so I'm assuming the guard just doesn't show up, but there may be further consequences.
”1138 will meet us by the safe. I hope,” Duchess mutters as she follows behind Zen.
Flashback:
Deirdre pressed up against the bars to her cell as the guard patrol walked by. One of the guards lingered behind as the others turned the corner, their face completely obscured by the black helmet they wore. They stepped a little closer, allowing them to hear Deirdre’s whispers.
”Did your sister switch to the new medication I recommended?” Deirdre asked. The guard nodded. ”I’m glad she is doing better. Now, I need you to do something for me. Sometime soon, the lights are going to go out. Wait for me by the safe where my supplies are being held. I promise, I will make it worth your while.”
”No, we cannot stay here,” Deirdre agrees. The lithe woman reaches up to tie her red hair back into a ponytail as she prepares for action. ”We need to find Guard THX-1138. They owe me a favor, and I’ll use it to get them to open the way to the safe where our gear is being held. Let’s move.”
As mentioned in Recruitment, I'm good with the selected ship qualities. Forged in the Fire or Hearts & Minds are my vote for special ability, and as for reputation, let's do Daring and Ambitious.
One thing to make the jailbreak easier: a sympathetic guard. Perhaps they have a secret crush on one of the characteres.
One thing to make the jailbreak harder: a Precursor urbot guarding the hangar.
Guess I'll take on Tiko Lux, too. Tiko is a thirty-something woman who will talk your ear off but is dynamite at the helm of a starship. Of course, she knows it and won't let you forget it!
The complication is that her abrasive attitude has made a lot of enemies in prison, and some of them aren't about to just let her escape without settling the score!
Deirdre has some minor social skills, but it's not her focus. Depending on what playbook our fourth player chooses, I think Hearts & Minds would be a good choice. If they are socially focused, then Forged in the Fire would be my pick.
I like Tiko Lux for our pilot, and Daring for our crew reputation.

As for brief backstory, Deirdre is the daughter of a minor noble in the Imperial government. She attended a highly prestigious medical school, but while pursuing her doctorate, she was exposed to various "radicals," including her on-again/off-again lover, Juda, who opened her eyes to the true cruelty of the Hegemony. After graduation, she used her position as a medic to move throughout the clusters and provide surreptitious support to the rebels fighting back against the government. Unfortunately, her cousin, Ditha, learned of her treachery and sold her out to the authorities. She now languishes in prison, but she has vowed that if she is ever able to escape, she will take her fight against the Hegemony out of the shadows!
Yes, it's been a lot of fun. I'm going to mark this one as inactive on my list. If by some chance it starts up again, please send me a PM and I'll check back in. See you all around! :D
"Not usually," Deirdre says to Ashton. "It was like... When I had those gummies at the party. I guess there really was some ghost residue on this thing..."
Marking XP, and somebody gets a String on me--most likely Xavier.
"Argh!" Deirdre doubles over and puts her hands to her head as if in intense pain. She squeezes her eyes shut. "So angry... L-lakeside! Nursing Home!" she gasps out.
I will be on a cruise next week from 4/1-4/6 without Internet access. It will likely take me till the following Monday or Tuesday to get caught up and resume posting.
Deirdre follows Hayden to the door. She takes her hands and looks into her eyes. "I don't care how scary they are. I'm your girlfriend. I'm going to stick by your side, no matter what. If you're going to do something dangerous, you shouldn't have to do it alone. I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere."
Deirdre lowers her eyes, properly chastised. "Alright, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. I just... I guess I don't have a lot of experience. With a lot of things."
"I don't know. We were so swept up in passion that first night together... I mean, it was surprising but it felt really good..." Deirdre blushes. "I just didn't think to ask about it."
"Oh, okay," Deirdre says, apparently nonplussed. Ghosts, demons, vampires, fey... Each new revelation of the supernatural is less and less surprising.
"What was it like over there? And is that why... Um, you know." She gestures vaguely towards Hayden's pelvis. "We never really talked about that, did we?"
"There was some sort of compulsion on me. I think it had to do with the character sheets they gave us? I just felt like I would be very badly hurt if I tried to run."
Deirdre returns the kiss with passion, then leans her head against Hayden and starts to sob. "I'm sorry! First Blaze turned all monstrous, and JJ and Ashton were trying to stand up to him, and I ran to try to find you but I got turned around and there was Sonoko feeding on Isaac... And she did something to me, and I tried to fight it... But I couldn't get away. She drew me to her and... She was going to..."
Deirdre smiles back at Eva. "Well, you don't actually stand on the table. Instead of acting things out, you use your imagination and just describe what your character is doing."
Once they reach the car, Deirdre gets inside and starts it up, eager to get back to campus. Fortunately, it's big enough that everybody can ride back together, Hayden included. Deirdre waits patiently as her girlfriend chats with everybody, eager to get back to campus.
"Let's find the rest of my friends first," Deirdre says. As she walks, she glances at Isaac. "It looked like you've been through whatever that was before. How long has this been going on? How did you get mixed up in all of this?"
Deirdre gasps and falls to her knees, shivering. She touches the blood on her neck with shaky hands and stifles a little sob. It takes her a few moments to regain her composure, but eventually, she looks up at Isaac. "Th-thank you," she stammers.
This likely triggers Can't Save Myself. I'm not sure if it would be Hayden or Isaac who technically saved me, but whoever it is, they'll mark XP and I'll gain a String on them.
