Declan pulls out his floatation device and jumps into the water. Though he's not an expert swimmer, he figures he can easily maneuver these waters and fight these creatures. "You can breathe water?" Declan repeats, confused. "You know that's not normal, right?" When Tanjona reports back, Declan considers the information. "Alright. How well can everyone swim? Should we try to lure them out here to attack or take it to them in there?"

Farrina the Fabulous wrote: "Oh, you have got to be joking with me," Farrina declares, recoiling back from the drop into nasty water. "You expect me to go down there?" Declan turns to Farrina and asks "What's a matter beautiful, afraid of getting a little wet?" He then turns to watch Tanjona swim into the lower levels, doing his best to keep an eye on him should he run into trouble. When he returns, he helps him back up and pulls a blanket out of his pack and tosses it to him to dry off with. When Rose starts rattling off questions, he turns to Adolina and waits for answers.

Looking at Rose, Declan nods "Well struck. You're welcome." Helping Adolina to her feet, Declan says "No offense taken, my assistant and I understand your precautions. They are wise and we would do the same had we been in your position." Looking around, he says "We're pretty beat up. If there is no rush for time, perhaps it's prudent to rest and regroup tomorrow."

Seeing that this creature is not going to suffer from superior positioning, Declan instead slides adjacent to Tanjona to help protect him in the future. As he moves, he uses his rat quadrille effect with his tunes to get the words stuck in the creature's head. -2 to AC, -4 to concentration for ten 10 minutes. Will save for half, but I'm not sure of DC. 14? Once adjacent to Tanjona, he points out "Strike him there!" and points to an exposed area on the creature's left side. Looks like that ledge is rigged to drop into the pit as well. Someone clearly doesn't want us across this."

The Songbird pulls out his rapier and moves alongside Tanjona, as he does he begins to "sing". Where most traditional songs are soft and melodic, Declan's are not that at all. Instead of singing, Declan begins screaming a litany of words to is allies in measured phrases. In a loud harsh voice Declan screams "Those who died, are justified!" Declan staggers back a step at the mention of an opera three years ago and says defensively "I never said I was in the opera. Who told I was in the opera? Not that I was in the opera, per se." He waves his hands back and forth and shakes his head as he says "What? No-Nevermind! What. What is wrong with my mask? It is dark, like the night. From the shadows, I-" Declan leaps forward, jumping in front of ADolina "-burst forth to swoop in to protect my city! From the night!" Turning back to Rose he extends a hand and says, "Come, sidekick! By my side!"

Moving out from behind Emerald Rose is a man who is slightly taller than her, but it's difficult to determine much else because he's clad entirely in a dark green cloak with a matching hood and face coverings. Around his eyes he wears a black mask that actually doesn't do anything other than perhaps to enhance the secrecy look. He speaks in a forced harsh, deep voice that is obviously not his real voice. He waits for all attention to be on him before speaking, and even then adds a few seconds of dramatic pause before standing up stall and puffing out his rather unremarkable chest and declaring boldly "I am the Songbird ... Of The Night! I have heard your plea for help and will assist where I can." Still keeping the harsh voice he explains "My assistant Rose and I have been hard at work cleaning up this city since before the Night of Ashes. If it makes sense to join forces and combine our strength ... the Songbird shall SING!" He again continues with dramatic pauses and sweeps of his hand as he speaks.

Darling, he can sing but you'd be accompanying him I'm afraid. Though he tried his hand in the opera, it wasn't his cup of tea and he tends to be on the cutting edge of a "new style" of music with a bit harsher of an edge.

Declan is ready to go. He's not a very effective attacker, designed instead to help the others do their jobs more effectively. Though he won't admit it, he's best suited to a sidekick support role. He frequently attempts to perform the role of vigilante in the evenings, only to get himself into trouble repeatedly because he's not skilled enough to pull anything off alone. Gameplay wise, this is what he brings to the table: Helpful Bodyguard: While in combat, Declan will move adjacent to you and pre-roll 3 Aid Another actions to improve your AC by +3. Combat Advice: While fighting, he will lend his insights to how he thinks you should be attacking and providing an occasional +2 competence bonus to an attack. Controlled Rage: As a Skald, Declan will be inspiring rage in everyone. Unlike a normal skald however, he will use a variant while does not come with the penalties with accepting the rage. He applies a +2 morale bonus to his allies’ Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution. bonus can be applied to one ability score or split the bonus between several scores in increments of 2. rage grants no bonus on Will saves, imposes no penalties to AC, and does not prevent affected allies from using Intelligence-, Dexterity-, or Charisma-based skills.
