Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

that'll work

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

just looked at all the sheets. no ones trained. just use my roll.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

in that case someone that's actually trained in diplomacy should make a check to gather intel. i'll assist
assist: 1d20 ⇒ 13

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

It's diplomacy to talk to people in town and gather information right?

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Maybe we should talk to the laborers. If that doesn't help, there's the tried and true method of hanging around after dark. The trouble always comes with the dark.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Deck walks the perimeter with Ikkath
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

We were hired to protect this place my good man. A job like that typically comes with some trouble. Would you be so kind as to point us in the direction of the person in charge?

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Deck follows Ikkath to the presumed authority figure.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

*cough*

2 people marked this as a favorite.
Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Couple questions before we get where we're going:
Who are we meeting anyway?
Do we know how far along the construction is?
Was there a previous security team that we are replacing or are we the first guards they hired?
If there was a previous team, what happened to them?
If we're the first team, why did they decide to hire us now?
Should I make knowledge rolls for any of those?
Will Batman and the Boy Wonder be able to escape the clutches of Mr. Freeze?
Is it still funny to end a long list of questions with a Soap reference?
How long can I keep this up before someone tries to punch me through the internet?

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Deck sighs and shakes his head. He shoulders his rifle and thinks, some people have no sense of wonder.

Not sure what's waitin for us, but I'm pretty sure it's that way, and it'd be rude to keep it waitin.
geography: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Deck packs up his gear and hops down from the tree. He checks over his musket and wipes it down with a cloth.
So Kryd, how'd you like your first night under the stars?

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

When Deck's watch comes up he'll stay in the tree
stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 crap
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 bugger

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 To pick out a nice campsite

To Kryd- Well then you're in for a treat. Nothin quite like sleepin in the open air, with all of creation spread out in the sky. Sounds of nature singin you too sleep... He keeps rambling on like that for a while.

When they decide where to camp, Deck sets a hammock up 10ft off the ground and drapes his poncho over it for a make shift tent.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Aint a question of bein scared friend. Humans don't see so good in the dark. You want everything in the haunted forest to see my lantern and make a bee-line for us? Sounds like askin for trouble to me.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

I suppose wanderin through the dark don't bother the rest of you, but why don't we camp on the edge for the evenin. No good comes from wanderin in haunted woods at night.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
I don't know if you want knowledge local, geo, or nature but a roll of 7 (1 if its nature) aint gonna get me much anyway.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

14 each sounds right... assuming I'll give you anything!!! BUAHAHAHAHA! Really though, everyone gets 14 gold

As Deck walks down the street rambling on about his rifle, he casually reloads it, seemingly oblivious to the strange looks he is drawing from the pedestrians.
I've never had a bad thing to say about the bow. But this is the weapons I've trained with since I was a child, and is as much a part of me as I'm sure your bow is for you.

Deck slings his rifle over his shoulder, lights a cigarette, and looks around.
This is a nice little town. I wish we could stay a bit longer. Make sure those Gorum goons don't do anything stupid after we leave.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

He may not have been the best of men, but there's no call for desecrating his remains. If not for him, for them that care about him. They deserve a proper burial and proper closure.

Deck removes the dead mans equipment and hands the crossbow and chain mail to the bartender.

Sorry for the mess friend. Selling the crossbow should cover the clean up and you can hang the chain mail above the bar as a warning to those that come looking for trouble. Any of his buddies come lookin for me, you let them know where to find me.

He slings the great sword over his shoulder and walks over to Ikkath.

Ready to go when you are friend.

I assume we hit the old dusty trail. How much can I sell the sword for?

If we leave:
Now, as I was sayin, this here's called a rifle and it works by... as they walk Deck gives a detailed history of firearms, and their basic function to anyone who cares to listen

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

I vote we sell the weapons, if nobody wants them, split that money and the gold in his pocket between us, and I'd like to give the chain mail to the bartender so he can hang it over the bar as a warning to the other jerks. Also before we leave I'd like to finish my exchange with Kryd about corpse desecration.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

to Ikkath
Thank ya kindly. My name's Deck. offers hand And this, indicating to his musket is called a...
Deck trails off as he notices Kryd starting to melt the holy symbol.
to Kryd
Beg pardon, friend, but is that necessary?

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

I'm gonna wait for the others to post. I don't wanna monopolize the board

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

I figured on him having 12 hp. I therefor retract my previous disappointment, that went exactly as well as I wanted it too :)

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

outstanding
The instant the leader's hand touches his sword, Deck levels his rifle and fires.
rapid shot 1st: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
rapid shot 2nd: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
both attacks are vs touch ac and I believe those will both hit
damage: 2d12 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10
damn, I was hoping I could put him down in one attack

I'm hoping I can count this as a surprise round, but I'll hafta roll initiative soon enough anyway.
init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Can I safely assume I'm within 40ft of this guy since most conversations (even threatening ones) don't happen over long distances?

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

For his sake I hope he plays nice. The alternative is a double tap to the thorax, and that has a 50% chance of not ending well for him.

charm is insta friend

It only makes them an insta friend to you though right?

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

I'm gonna wait till Kryd posts so we can see how his charm person works. Otherwise my next action is gonna be to shoot this guy twice in the chest.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Deck tosses his cigarette away
I aint about to let a bunch of loud mouth bullies kill a man in cold blood. I suggest yall get movin before we have a problem
Deck cocks his rifle.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

And what evidence do you have to back your claim?
"They think of themselves as the 'true law" seems to imply that they have no actual legal authority. Would that be accurate?

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Kn: Local: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Do I know anything about these guys?

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Whispering too the table You'll get my back if this goes sideways right?
Deck gets up from his chair and turns to face the leader.
What seems to be the problem my good man?

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Deck raises his mug to Ikkath.
In Common: To the thrill of the hunt.
In Orc: Cheers!

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Deck lights the cigarette.

To Moria My apologies darlin'. No offense intended.

To Kryd I know it sounds a bit corny, but I'm here for the adventure. I've heard stories about this place and I'm lookin' forward to seein' if they're true. The chance to help build a new village is appealin' too. I've been wanderin' a while now and I wouldn't mind a little permanence back in my life.

When the server comes over to refill Deck's drink, he asks her to bring a drink over to Jathal at the bar. If she turns around he waves her over to the table.

Male Human Gunslinger (Musket Master) 1

Deck lounges in his chair. He so often finds himself sleeping outside and has learned to enjoy the little luxuries to the fullest when the opportunity arises.

Այսպիսով, ինչպես եք անում, որովհետեւ այս մայրամուտն.

Elven:
Very well, thanks

This lovely inn offers much better accommodations then I'm used too. I'm almost sorry we'll have to leave. Do you believe the stories they tell about these woods?

Deck waves over a server to top off his mug and starts rolling a cigarette.

I got my character done faster that I thought. Say hello to pocsaclypse's gunslinger.

background:

Deck grew up in the woods. He was raised by his father, Leed, who had
traveled from the east, and settled in the area when he met Deck's mother, Wynn. When Wynn died in child birth, Leed moved into the woods with Deck and taught him how to hunt and live off the land. Together they lived a semi-isolated life in their cabin deep in the woods and only made occasional trips to town to trade for supplies.
About a year ago, Leed died in a hunting accident while Deck had gone to town. Not wanting to live alone, Deck burried his father, gathered up his few possesions and started traveling from town to town looking for a new place to call home.
It was in the latest town he came too that Deck heard about a new villiage being built. Seeing an opportunity to build a new life for himself and settle down, Deck signed up to assist and was assigned to the protection detail. He uses his position to familurize himself with this new area that he hopes to one day call home.

My character sheets on my profile. Let me know if I forgot anything.
