Hi, guys. To all my games: sorry I've been such a butt lately.

Basically, I was away from the internet for a while, but before and after that, I've been writing so much for work that PbP just felt like a chore. And I've come to realize that while I love my job, right now it's just not leaving me the time and creative energy I need forPbP, so, while I've sort of been sliding down that slope for a while, I figured I should actually tell all my games that I've gotta drop out.

Sorry to disappoint and potentially leave a bunch of people hanging at the end there, and I hope I was generally fun.

Oh! Dang! Ridley's ready, though he might stand/swim a few feet behind the others.

I'm pretty pierce-y... not amazing at swimming, but if the water is calm it should be fine

Oh no, I don't know the spell. It's on Umbriak's list.

I'd pop up an Air Bubble if you've got the slots, just as insurance...

"Well... I'm no eager swimmer, so I'll defer to you two on this."

Our best bet is Air Bubble, but that's only 4 minutes of breathing, which is not much.

"Surely, some of the local water fey might offer assistance, no?"

Ridley thanked the dryad as well.

Oh! Indeed, I have missed this one.

If it can resize, I can wield it pretty decently as a tiny shortsword at a -2 penalty...

It's a stick, though. If it functions as a quarterstaff, Farod might be able to use it (and Umbriak can't use a 1H sword nearly as well as his axe). Hence: asking

"And this is a minor afterthought, but how big is the sword?" Ridley added, wondering who in the group know how to handle such a weapon.

"Ah. That's... good to hear? Although yeah it sounds like a real crappy move to take this magic sword and not try to save the forest with it."

"Er, just thinking ahead... 'forging a pact to spend your life fighting a nightmare demon' sounds like a bit of a mixed blessing, is all."

Yay! Now it all makes sense.

"So, uh, thank you a great deal for explaining all this," Ridley replies slowly. "Are you saying all that needs to happen to save this forest is for one of us to take on the curse of this sword?"

Ridley, finally including himself in the conversations again, nodded, as the others spoke for him as well.

Ack, across all games: my bad!

Ridley nodded, trying not to look too weird as the party fished through a cloak for some stray hair.

Ridley, realizing this might be quite an important conversation, cast Tongues on himself as soon as Umbriak began talking.

No worries! I have trouble remembering which players are in which Rednal games, since there's a bunch of overlap

And Umbriak has Fast movement. Although if someone wants to carry Ridley, he won't mind...

Ridley shook his head, and kept his eyes idly open for forest monsters. Maybe there were tensions in this forest, but a few days was nothing compared to the centuries of whatever had already happened.

Ridley appreciated breakfast well enough, though he was beginning to grow a bit tired of the forest.

"Well. This seems to be a pretty uneventful week, but I suppose I can meditate some more if you'd prefer to go tomorrow."

"Neat. Let's go talk to some trees, then. And let me know if I need to cast tongues again."

Ridley stared just a bit too hard at the lock of hair, wondering just what the others had asked for.

Ridley nodded alone, hoping Umbriak wasn't saying anything too embarrassing in Sylvan (with any luck, perhaps, he hadn't learned all the necessary words yet).

Ridley waved helpfully, hoping that the others would indicate if he needed to cast tongues again.

"Right, then. No rush to leave this forest, though, if they'll keep feeding us..."

Oh uhhhh yep gotta add that stuff...

"Right, then." Ridley shrugged.

"I don't think we're going anywhere quickly," Ridley says to the others, "And I think too much conversation in Sylvan's got you two speaking in metaphors. But maybe we should scout around for food and lodgings, if we're going to be here a few days."

It's real dumb, he only has one keyboard. When he goes to sleep, I can take it from his work desktop and move it to the gaming rig, but it's also hard to think as much right before I go to bed..

Ridley's spell of understanding was already close to ending, but figured the others could teach him the song once they knew it.

The laptop is in the shop for like a week, the old laptop is at my mom's house. The gaming rig hooked into the tv is my roommate's and doesn't have a keyboard. Currently on a laptop with a broken screen but because of cable configurations I can't type and look at the screen at the same time.

Update: computer is now significantly more broken, as the power button is malfunctioning such that the computer shuts down after 30 seconds of use. I'll be offline for a few more days...

Oh! Didn't realize this was another round of party posts, dang. I respond well to being poked.

Ridley had no interest in songs or history, but as long as the others were interested, he was willing to oblige, for lack of better plans.

Hey guys, I'm going to be at an astrobiology conference until friday and can't bring my portable keyboard with me (laptop keyboard is functioning only intermittently). Feel free to bot me as necessary.

We might be a match for a dryad; I don't want to try and fight a nymph.

I think we need to end the status quo, though. If we can do it in a way that gains us a powerful and trustworthy ally, awesome, though that's probably not going to happen. "Kill Indomitability for good" was another option described that seems unlikely to work.

Anyone have thoughts on what to do next? We gotta figure out how we're ending this situation, and I'm not sure whether we have or haven't learned everything about what the different options mean.

Ridley... had some difficulty understanding just what the creature was actually trying to say. As a leader of the Fey, sure, it might as well be the most metaphorical and confusing of the things he had talked to today.

Ridley agreed with Umbriak's questions, and waited for an answer.

"<Die, how? This 'Indomitability' thing seems to be offering great rewards to anyone offering to release it...>"

<"What do YOU believe would happen, then, if you stopped singing?"> Ridley asked, growing slightly annoyed with the deflections of the fey.

Uhh okay, back.

Ridley seemed visibly deserved by Umbriak's level of honesty, especially the part about being actually approached and given instructions by Indomitability (though he was satisfied by omission of the Devil), and shook his head, waiting to see the fairy's reply.

Oops, I think this one's on me.

"Well uh... guess that's the singing everyone's talking about..." Ridley mutters to the others. "Must get real old real fast."

"Eh, not *quite* what I was hoping for. What exactly is the fire-thing, what's it doing in a deer, and who are the political parties debating how to kill it?"
