Apologies in advance if this is a straightforward question but I'm not sure how Starfinder Society character experience is supposed to work in APs. I'm a veteran GM going to run my first Society game and want to prepare accordingly.

The problem is that the AP 'Dead Suns' has multiple level ranges that don't seem to match up with the experience Society adventures give out. I've read over the SFS rules pdf and Dead Suns rules pdf and it seems like the PCs get 3 experience AFTER they complete AP #1. There are two problems with this understanding.

1) The AP itself says the PCs should level up twice by the end of the AP (starting at level 1 and ending at level 3).
2) The next AP lists level 3-4 as the level range.

Am I understanding correctly that to run this AP the PCs need to run the first adventure as 1st level characters (or second level if they've run other scenarios) and don't level up until AFTER they've completed it? And then, can't run AP #2 until they've run secondary scenarios to get up to 3rd level (assuming they weren't 2nd level to start with)? So basically there's no way to go from a beginning level 1 SFS PC and play through all 6 APs one after the other?

I agree with everything you've said. The only issue is my DM requires the environment where the new companion typically lives part. So since hippogriffs don't typically live in our campaign he's ruled I can't easily resurrect or find a new one.

Insofar as spells go, apart from the two obvious ones (limited wish and wish), I think Polymorph Any Other (into an adult version of the Hippogriff) would work, and it would be permanent as well (unless it were dispelled, which could be pretty awkward mid-flight).

Polymorph Any Object would definitely work. Our party can't cast this (mostly level 9s) so I'm off to see a wizard!

Thanks for all the ideas guys!

You could see if your GM will allow you to use a permanency on Sands of Time

If you're willing to play with fire a bit, one solution is to have the local archmage Greater Planar Bind a Bythos Aeon (Bestiary 2) and ask it to use its Aging Strike a couple of times on the (likely very terrified) baby Hippogriffs

I like the aging idea. But, I checked these two effects and they work the same way which is to penalize those that are hit (getting the downsides of aging but not the upsides). I doubt the DM would give me a favorable outcome using such effects. Summoning a large time cop to smack my baby hippogriffs into adulthood sounds hilarious though. :)

Wish might work. The issue is you need growth & training, not aging. Simply magically aging a hatchling would give you Progeria-like results.

My mistake. As you mentioned, I need the hatchlings to grow rapidly, not age rapidly.

Is this a home-brew campaign? I'm assuming your ranger has stacked ranks in "handle animal" if he is raising hippogriffs.

This is a Skull and Shackles campaign using only official Pathfinder content (DM doesn't allow 3rd party content). I do have Handle Animal maxed out and get additional bonuses for handling my companions so the training part should be easy.

In terms of RAW I don't know of any way to accelerate the aging and/or growth of creatures. Can't you buy a trained hippogriff in the meantime? Perhaps you can reduce the cost of a grown hippogriff by trading in your two baby ones. Or maybe just one.

I would like to get a grown one but that presents a few problems. First, they're 5,000gp each rather than 200gp for newborns. Second, they're considered magical if full grown which is harder to train. Since I'm a pirate, having two for cheap and selling their offspring later is very appealing. :)

I'm currently going through a campaign as a Ranger: Sable Company Marine whose hippogriff has died(spectacularly I might add). I've bought 2 baby hippogriffs and have started rearing them. I'd rather not wait years for them to be full grown and be used as flying mounts. Are there any spells or other ways I can fast forward the aging process?

Thanks
