My idea is for my level 9 ranger with boon companion and rapid shot feats to take a wolf as an animal companion and give him spring attack as a feat.
I interpret the rules as saying that, on my initiative count, I can move my wolf's speed while mounted and still make a full ranged attack, and I can't see anything that says my wolf can't attack mid-move (spring attack) without any attacks of opportunities to either of us alongside my full attack (provided I pass a handle animal check to make him willing to attack the enemy).
Have I got this right?
Would I have to pass any ride check (other than for steering with knees)?
