M Human Ftr3

Darren probably would've mentioned the tunnel, but no need to retcon. Good game, for sure! Is there any interest for continuing the group in another mod? If sunshadow doesn't want to run it, we can look for another DM. sunshadow can create another PC and join the party.

M Human Ftr3

How about Petvar excuses himself to report to the guard (but really to take Esme to the Duskwardens) and the rest of us remain to collect payment and let the Pharasmans know what we found.

M Human Ftr3

"The brown mold. It thrives on heat, so the frost might kill it. Hopefully, the treasure in there's worth it."

M Human Ftr3

Darren pulls out the alchemist's frost and offers it up. "Would someone with better aim like to throw it? My luck lately, it'll hit the doorjamb, bounce back, and break at our feet."

M Human Ftr3

Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Darren shakes the daze off after a few seconds. "Ugh. Sorry, y'all." He looks at the skeleton neatly cut in half. "Who did this? Good job!"

No other bodies left from the prior battle in this hallway?

Surveying the blocked passages, Darren states the obvious: "I guess we'll have to use the elevator."

M Human Ftr3

"Sounds good. Ma'am, we'll let you pack, and we'll come back to escort you to the city on our way out."

M Human Ftr3

"Oh yeah. There's that tunnel the tengu came in through."

M Human Ftr3

Darren looks Esme up and down, and determines that she's either no threat or too great a threat for weapons to make much difference. He unstraps his shield and removes his helmet, and looks at the bottles she indicated. He figures that she couldn't have poisoned all of them, and she couldn't have known which ones her guests would select, so he figures they must be safe. He picks out a red wine and pours a glass before taking a seat some distance from Esme.

"Thank you, ma'am. You said that Tripe was helping you? What was he helping you with? Er, if it's not too personal?"

M Human Ftr3

"I'll take the enlarge person potion, if no one else wants it."

Looking at the board, Darren asks, "Will it support my weight? This armor is pretty heavy..."

If Filios is confident, Darren will cross. Otherwise, he'll wait in the lab and let the less-heavily equipped party members scout ahead, assuming there's only a room or two beyond.

M Human Ftr3

"Tripe dealt with the undead, didn't he? Could that woman have been a ghost of some sort? Not that she seemed particularly malicious... and we probably couldn't kill her even if we wanted to..."

M Human Ftr3

Darren follows Solomon's lead and sheathes his sword. He returns to the door and retrieves his mace, sheathing it as well. He then scans the room, looking for other entrances through which reinforcements may arrive, as he listens to the party talk to the disembodied voice.

M Human Ftr3

Round 8, 21 HP, no effects

Darren takes a swing at Tripe, but not trying to hit him, as much as distract him from Filios's dual attacks.

Aid another to add 2 to Filios's attacks: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27. (Now I roll over a 10. Figures.)

M Human Ftr3

Ahh. That's fine. And I don't think Filios was trying to dogpile - he was probably typing while you posted your explanation. He only posted 2 minutes after your post.

M Human Ftr3

Speaking of AoOs, should we have gotten them against Tripe when he took his CLW potion?

Round 7, 21 HP, no effects

Darren takes another swing at the insane necromancer.

Power attack w/longsword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

M Human Ftr3

Darren growls in frustration when he couldn't move the table. He waits longer, hoping space will open close to Tripe. When Petvar drops the zombie, Darren steps into the breach.

Move to J8. Power attack w/longsword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13; damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

M Human Ftr3

Round 5, 21 HP

Delay action until after Petvar goes.

Feeling the entangling goop weaken enough to move, Darren picks up his sword and waits for an opportune moment to join the fray.

Hopefully Petvar will finish the zombie in J8, and Darren will move to that spot - that's the closest he can get this round. Otherwise, he'll drop his sword again, and try pulling the table back to make room around Tripe. Strength check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24.

M Human Ftr3

Realizing that the entangling goo is weakening on its own, Darren drops his sword and draws a javelin. He flings the javelin at the enlarged necromancer.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20; damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

M Human Ftr3

Round 2, 21/29 HP, entangled

Again, Darren reaches past the corner with a swing of his longsword, intended to disrupt the skeleton's defense, rather than injure him.

Attack w/longsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 to add +2 to Filios's attack.

M Human Ftr3

Round 2, 21/29 HP, no effects

Not sure if I'll be on to post in order, so posting action now. Use whichever is applicable.

If the zombie in L8 is still standing:
Darren drops his morningstar and draws his longsword. He calls out, "Petvar, take the far zombie! We'll get this one!" He then swings at the zombie in L8 with his sword, attempting to throw off his defense against Filios's next attack.

Aid another (vs 14, I'd imagine, due to the cover of the corner) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 to add 2 to Filios's next attack against the zombie in L8.

If Filios drops the zombie in L8 during round 1:
Darren drops his morningstar and draws his longsword. He begins slicing at the goop holding him in place. Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

M Human Ftr3

Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20; Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Darren shakes off the chill of the frost bomb, and he barely notices the goop cementing his feet to the floor as he swings his heavy mace at the skeleton that so thoughtfully closed to the immobile fighter.

Power attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8; Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

M Human Ftr3

And the bomb in my face!

M Human Ftr3

"I was wondering what happened to that necromancer. With any luck, he'll assume his wall illusion worked and won't expect us to be coming back."

Darren turns around and leads the way back through the winding hall to the lab. He then stands ready with his heavy mace drawn.

M Human Ftr3

Remembering the unexplorable crypt, Darren asks for one of the vials. "Alchemist's Frost? Maybe this will kill that brown mold."

M Human Ftr3

Darren leans up against the wall, looking over the piles of bones, disappointed that he didn't hit more often. He pushes his self doubt aside, however, and sets his mind to the task at hand.

I'm coming up with 5033 exp. I went ahead and levelled Darren. Let me know if y'all are counting something different.

M Human Ftr3

Round 6, 20 HP, AC: 23

Darren steps up to one of the archers and takes a powerful swing.

Power attack with mace: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14; damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

M Human Ftr3
Filios wrote:
Well Done Darren, step up to flank if possible!

Good idea. Can Darren still take a 5-ft step in round 5 to take the spot of the sword-wielding skeleton he destroyed? Not sure if the +2 flanking would help Filios's attack anyway - these skeletons have such a high AC.

M Human Ftr3

Round 5, 20 HP, AC: 23
Did those channels also damage the skeletons?

After the healing, and seeing that some of the skeletons have turned their attention from Darren, he lowers his guard to try to improve his attacking accuracy.

Mace, no power attack, not fighting defensively: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21; damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

M Human Ftr3

Round 4, 14 HP, fighting defensively: AC 25

Darren hopes he can continue to draw their attacks. He takes another guarded swing at the remaining sword-wielding skeleton.

Mace, no power attack, fighting defensively: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Also, can we get the initiative order reposted? Thanks.

M Human Ftr3

Round 3, 14 HP, fighting defensively: AC 25

Darren begins fighting more defensively, recognizing that the skeletons tend to focus on one target at a time. He continues to target the sword-wielding skeleton with his own attack.

Mace, no power attack, fighting defensively: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

M Human Ftr3

Round 2, 21 HP, no effects, AC 23

Darren drops his longsword and draws his mace. He swings again at the sword-wielding skeleton.

Power attack w/mace: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19; damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

M Human Ftr3

Round 1, 21 HP, no effects

If no one's in P4, Darren moves there and attacks the sword-wielding skeleton facing Morthos (in Q5, I think?).

Power attack w/longsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

M Human Ftr3

Unless the skeletons move from where they are on their turn, Darren's actions follow:

Round 1, 21 HP, no effects

Darren closes on the furthest skeletons, hoping to draw their fire until the rest of the party takes out the nearest skeleton and can join him.

Double move to S4, avoiding AoOs on the way.

M Human Ftr3

"Well, bugger." Darren returns to the middle of the room to keep an eye on as many entrances as he can, while Filios checks on the secret door.

M Human Ftr3

Darren stands still in the middle of the room, keeping an eye on the zombie. When Petvar is ready, he'll help destroy the zombie. He looks down at the notes to see if he can make out (or understand) any of the writing.

M Human Ftr3

"Fire will just make the brown mold stronger. It lives off the heat."

Where's the narrow hallway with strange odors?

M Human Ftr3

Darren finishes strapping on his armor, and picks up his shield. "That's a feather token, too? I'm still thinking there should be another feather somewhere behind the 2nd door."

"Oh, and let's go through those reflection rooms on our way to the lower level, just for good measure."

M Human Ftr3

"Maybe we should go pick up a couple of those everburning torches, so that those of us who can't see in the dark can do a better job during our watch."

Or if we have a sunrod left, we can use it. In that case, Filios, Petvar, and Darren should take watch in sequence, so we can each use the sunrod before it expires.

M Human Ftr3

Darren looks intently at the inscription, deep in thought.

"Yeah, but how would the three doors become one? Unless it's that they all go to the same place. But they already do, since it looks like all these halls are behind the same three doors. If this is as old as Solomon says, maybe the prophecy already came and passed? Or it refers to something on the lower floor. Hmmm... you guys just found a feather? We got that quill pen from the statue on the other side - another feather. Maybe there's a third one we missed?"

There are other exits from this room than the door that just closed, right?

M Human Ftr3

Darren wears a look of disgust. "Is that a Pharasman thing, or a Runelord thing? Is it alive?"

He shakes his head, and climbs through the wound, trying not to touch the edges.

M Human Ftr3

"I'm good to continue today."

Darren leads the way in the direction selected, after Filios disables the trap.

Are we in the southeast corner of the map?

I am coming up with you guys being at 4408 xp. Darren's profile has all but the last trapped statue that opened up into the cold crypt and the last battle you just finished.

Added.

"I can take any watch as well."

M Human Ftr3

"Yeah, I guess we've made some good progress today."

M Human Ftr3

Round 2; HP 21 + 18 temporary HP, 11 nonlethal damage; AC 23

Darren continues to attack the zombie.

Power attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12, damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

M Human Ftr3

Darren had grabbed one when we entered the cathedral, but then we started grinding those crypts and Darren put it back. I'd meant for us to grab some on the way out, but I forgot. Darren can delay his action until there's light thrown in there, but he also has blindsight, so as long as he can see what square the zombie's in, he could've rerolled his miss chance. Course I don't think 10 hits in any case, so it's largely moot.

M Human Ftr3

Darren rushes into the room, flailing aimlessly at the zombie with his longsword in the dark.

Power attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10; Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

M Human Ftr3

Wasn't there a map of the overall crypt that we've been? Does anyone have a link to that? I'm just not finding it.

M Human Ftr3

Round 2; HP 21 + 18 temporary HP, 11 nonlethal damage; AC 23

If one remains, Darren finds an opening to crowd him, taking the AOO, and swings his mace.

Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14, damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

M Human Ftr3

Round 1; HP 21 + 18 temporary HP, 11 nonlethal damage; AC 23

Darren waits until Solomon illuminates the enemy, then he closes down on them, dropping his long sword and drawing his mace, since they're skeletons.

Double move, drawing mace during.

M Human Ftr3

Round 3; HP 21 + 18 temporary HP, 11 nonlethal damage; AC 23

Darren attacks the hand that Solomon is facing.

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12; damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

M Human Ftr3

Round 2; HP 21 + 18 temporary HP, 11 nonlethal damage; AC 23

Darren swings again at the hand.

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28; damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Edit: man, what a waste of a nat 20 and max damage...
