And the conversation turns: "Given everything I've heard, it's sounds like the Cult of Raven. But the burning of people is new. That's not typically their style," Dara answered as she wracked her brain for any of the Cult Lore she knew of.
Barracks: There wasn't much that made Dara uncomfortable, but the description of what happened to that family and her nightmare made her extremely so.
Hiding her discomfort, she asked, "Were there any black feathers?"
Nightmare's: Even if it weren't so close to dawn, Dara doubted she could sleep. Pulling her knees to her, she felt so.......vulnerable? Violated? Yes that was it. That voice, it almost sounded like....... The Dwarf couldn't even brink herself to think the name, let alone say it. After a few minutes, she shook her head, Come on, snap out of it. It was just a dream.
Getting up, she began her morning routine.
Office: That's different. What the Hells are they up to this time?
"Captain, I'll need to speak to you on this matter. When would be the best time to do so?"
Office: Dara's anger became overwhelmed by her professional curiosity, "Does this cult have a name you are aware of?"
Dara was torn between following her Cousin and staying behind to talk to Silo. But knowing how Alaina copes in these situations, it would be best for her not to.
Before she could even protest, people began showing up. So Dara kept her mouth shut, but was still giving Silo a disapproving look.
Office Party: Dara looked at Cel, with a very stern 'None of your business' look. Crossing her arms, "Good, because I'm not going anywhere."
There came a slight throbbing on her arm, which she knew full well was in her head. It always did when memories of that night resurfaced in the back of her mind.
Office Party: Ignoring Alaina, the Dwarf looked straight at Silo, "What do you intend to do with whatever of Alaina you're asking for?"
Family issues: Dara didn't like it. Something didn't sit right with her. Rushing to get her armor on, the Dwarf didn't waste time heading up to Silo's office. She didn't bother knocking, just barged right in.
Barracks: What in the Hells? Dara wondered. Things were getting weird, she didn't like weird. The Dwarf rolled over and went back to sleep.
Paranoia: Dara bolted upright and extended a dagger from a wrist sheath. Looking around and realizing she wasn't in any danger, she took a deep breath and rewound the springs.
She muttered to herself, "Get a grip on yourself."
The next morning: Dara awoke the next morning. She looked over at her crossbow that she had been tempted to setup. Getting up, she went through her usual morning routine. The seed of paranoia still prickling the back of her mind.
Range: The Dwarf turned her head slightly intending to say Better than you. But thought better on it and ignored the comment while she continued her target practice.
Range: Ignoring the soldiers on the field, Dara decided to practice with her new bow a little more.
Store: Pulling out the thirty platinum she was just paid, as well as an addition 75 gold, the Dwarf set the money on the counter. "Thank you."
Putting the wire, pitons and bolt in her pack, Dara shouldered the crossbow and headed back to the practice range. She just couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched.
Store: "I'd like to take it all if that's alright," Dara responded.
Store: A strange idea came to her, "Yes actually, would you happen to have a darkwood light crossbow, about six feet of copper wire, two pitons and a crossbow bolt?"
Store: Dara looked at the arrows. Given the selection, the Sleep Arrows would probably be the best option.
"I'll take five of the sleep arrows," The Dwarf said as she put her bow on the counter and counted out 520 gold.
Store: Un-slinging her non-magical bow, "Yes, I was informed you may have some magical arrows I might be interested in. I was also wondering what I could get for this?"
At the Range: "Nice," Dara exclaimed, "This will do nicely."
Retrieving her arrow, Dara headed to the General Store.
Barracks (outside): As Dara looked at the army taking space outside of town. Well that's going to make things interesting.
With a shrug, the took aim at the furthest target. Time to see what this can do.
Armory: Reaching up and giving Balewa a friendly punch on the arm, "I understand that, truly I do. I guess it's my fault for getting my hopes up. I'll look into the General Store later. But I think first, I'll ease my mind at the practice range. The day's be complicated."
Armory: Dara was a little disappointed, she hoped there would be a better selection of arrows. With a shrug she said, "Well, unfortunately, the bolts wouldn't do me any good, so I guess I'll take the arrows."
Dara figured she'd better go see what ammunition was available to her. She headed to the armory.
Dara was trying, but her nervousness of what Alaina was most likely about to learn distracted her.
Dara stood speechless. Great.
"Thank you Captain, I'll look into that." Dara replied. Looking at the bow, she nodded, This is definitely fine quality. Her mind already churning what would best for her.
I'm stuck on trying pick a talent and feat. Any suggestions you guys?
Barracks: "That would be me. I've heard you're looking for me?"
Barracks: Dara flicked a few gestures with her hands, Thanks. She'd never been good at Covert Sign, but she was always able to convey simple messages.
Finishing her meal, the Dwarf cleaned up her dishes and headed upstairs.
Barracks: Dara was curious, but at the same time, she just wanted to sit and eat in peace. Finding an open spot, the Dwarf sat down and dug into her food. Her thoughts kept drifting to her fitful dreams last night.
Barracks: Looking up at Blaine, "You have a point. See you in the morning."
Dara slept, albeit fitfully, through the night. Awakening at the sound of the horn, she thought, Ah, there they are. Getting up to do her morning routine, she was feeling a little more sore than yesterday, probably because of nearly getting killed by an overly dead hulking dead man. After her routine, she headed to the Mess for breakfast.
Barracks: "Still, I find it interesting that they got here before reinforcements from Alteindel's army," Dara responded back.
At the range: Now what in the Hells are they doing here? Dara thought. Her curiosity getting the better of her, she headed back into the barracks to greet the entourage.
Can't sleep: Taking a queue from the Sergeant, Dara hung her clothes up as well to let them finish drying. Throwing on a spare set, she grabbed her bow and arrows and headed outside to the target range for some practice.
Good rest after a long day: Finishing her bath, Dara wrapped herself in a towel and then scrubbed her clothes in a tub of fresh water.
Barracks: "Sorry, I thought I was alone in here," Dara responded, more to try an shake off the creepy feeling than to comfort the unknown woman.
Skying down: Dara gave Dulae a nod. She was worn, both emotionally and physically. Stripping down, she climbed in the bath and washed herself.
The Dwarf felt a strange sensation on her arm and felt as if someone was watching her. "Hello?"
Silo: Dara suppressed a sigh and eye roll. All she wanted to do was protect her cousin that was more like a little sister to her. Was that so much to ask?
Getting up, "Well, on that note, I bid you good night." Turning, she left for the barracks washroom.
Has never come up.
*Narrows eyes at Henri* Hey, I resent that.
Silo: "I'm not asking you to lie, just don't tell her everything." Heavens help her if her blood spouts magic.
Silo: "Now that, I wasn't aware of. Which begs the question, why could he not get find her?" Dara asked with genuine curiosity.
Silo: "Because he didn't want her to know. At least that's what's written in the report I was given. I'm certain that he won't bring up the fact he has magic if he sees her, so there's no point in bringing it up."
Silo: "No, she's not in trouble. Not yet at least. Look, I'm fairly sure that you know of Marcus'.....abilities. Alaina doesn't know a thing about them, and I'd like you just keep that in mind when you talk to her. She may be my adoptive cousin, but she's more like a sister to me, I just don't want to see her get hurt by him again. There's a lot of issues there. Does that make sense?"
