About Dalzig Berenbiddle
Character Sheet available at Myth-Weavers
Dalzig Berenbiddle is a very short man. Some would say he's not even a man. Well, those people are actually right! Dalzig is actually a gnome. He stands at an impressive 3' 1" and weighs in at a hefty 47 lbs. Yes, that does seem a little large, but not everyone has the intestinal fortitude that our friend Dalzig has. His eyes are a deep blue. His nearly bald, having just the barest stubble of venetian red. A close cropped beard lines his jaw.
Dalzig grew up in typical gnomish fashion. He played tricks on his friends, laughed at them, had tricks played on him, and laughed at himself. This is basically what went on for years. Then he stumbled upon a wizard's store room. He picked up a twig that was bent like vine around a tree and wove it through the air. He pointed it at a mirror, and yelled "Bizrip!" What happened after that he'll never forget. The wand blew up! The wizard heard the chaos and walked into his store room to find many valuable things destroyed. He also found a small gnome in the middle of the floor giggling with a childish delight.
He was hooked after that. Every chance he got he experimented with magic. He'd try emulating spells he'd seen done on the streets, and fail. He'd try making up his own spells, and fail. He even tried reading what he thought was a spell of a scroll, and failed. Needless to say, Dalzig Berenbiddle simply was not cut out to be a wizard. The last thing many saw of him was running on the streets crying.
Dalzig somehow found his way to a temple of Wee Jas, even though he didn't know it at the time. He ran up to one of the priestesses and started begging for help. When asked what kind of help he sought, he said he wanted to use magic. The priestess knelt down and looked him in the eyes. She proclaimed that if he worshiped Wee Jas, the Ruby Sorceress, with all his heart, she would lead him to magic.
Learning the duties of Wee Jas was hard on Dalzig. His life turned very regimental and disciplined when he was a free spirit. The only thing that kept him in line at times was the lure of using magic. Persevering though, he was accepted into the order. His first job was to examine the small mining town of Diamond Lake.
A year of boredom ensued for Dalzig. Not many people in Diamond Lake sought to learn about Wee Jas. The dreary, dirty town also had little in the way of entertainment. The height of his time spent here was spent talking to Allustan, who always seemed to have some new piece of lore or magical trinket.
