Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Still struggling with how to do maps properly in Fantasy Grounds.... Either way though no Initiative yet from two of you.

Also positioning...

There are two squares right in front of the doors, then four squares a line back and four squares again another layer back so...

XXXX
XXXX
XX
DD

Who wants to stand where?

With the XX and DD shifted a space to the right...

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Ok so Faolan delays.

Eros runs forward, and fires his pistol at the closest goblin. The bullet hits the goblin square in the chest. The goblin staggers, and is heard wheezing as the bullet lodged itself in his lungs.

Furnok moves up as well, and launches a spear at that same goblin. The spear goes straight through the goblin and it crumples to the ground, very much dead.

Radjiik carefully takes aim, and fires his shortbow at the Goblin warchanter. Now if she had been a few inches taller.... Radjiik, under the influence of the gods drops his aim just a smidgen as he lets go You had another +1 from Viridi's Bless and the arrow plants itself in the warchanters left cheek, penetrating deep into her head. She's still alive, but looking a lot worse for wear.

The goblin commando looks surprised at the weapon that Eros discharged at his former buddy, then charges at...

Eros or Furnok?: 1d2 ⇒ 1

Eros!

The goblin commando screams as he charges at Eros, bringing his horsechopper down in a mighty swing!

Attack at Eros! (+1 base attack, +1 size, +1 MWK, +1 STR, +2 Charge: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Possible damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Viridi and Camilla are up next. I have an action for Camilla, Viridi?

Updated map.

Damage and statuses for the bad guys:
Warchanter took 6 damage.
Commando next to Eros is at -2 AC due to having charged.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

I have a big race tomorrow and Saturday. I may be able to update on Friday, I don't know yet. It's not very likely.

550 km of Regularity rally at 50kph over 1.5 days...

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

I'll put up a map tomorrow but essentially it's a two wide heavy heavy set of doors through which you can just barely see the skeletons.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Right. Initiative rolls please from everyone.

The skeletons get...

Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Anyone ahead of them gets to act.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Faolan? Any actions?

Camilla... Dice bot let you down there!

Note I'll update tomorrow and have Faolan delay if he doesn't show.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Good rolls there from Radjiik and Furnok! Waiting for Faolan and Eros as they go first.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Through the narrow gap, you see... bodies..

There's two fully normal looking human bodies at the centre of the room. Around them, countless bones. As your arrow sails overhead and buries itself in what looks to be a painting of Kassen himself at the far end of the entrance way, the bones start moving.

Re-assembling. Turning into what looks vaguely like humans, stripped of all flesh and organs. Six of these undead abominations silently stand up, clad in rusty chain shirts and wielding scimitars that are on the verge of falling apart. They silently, other than some clinking of their chain mails, turn and face the double doors.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Yeah both Paizo and me were very spotty for a while there. I can't believe I missed a week of work for the first time since errm... 2008 or so. But we should be back in business.

On with the show!

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Yeah sorry Jil. First Paizo crapped out then my health did. Looks like I'm all back though.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

The doors to the crypt seem to be a bit stuck. It'll take some serious pushing to get them to open. Sure there's a tiny gap between them right now, and you can tell from looking in between that tiny gap that it will take some serious pushing to get them open again.

So the entrance is 10 foot wide. The line behind that is 20 foot wide and it continues like that. I'd like to know who will be at the doors and pushing to open them. Essentially how do you all line up opening the crypt.

Anyone looking in between that tiny gap between the doors? Too dark to see anything really, even with low-light vision.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

We're back!

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

And we're back! New meds work, just took a day longer.

Viridi casts a spell, and all feel a bit more certain about hitting with their weapons as some divine force flows through them.

Camilla starts rotating her sling, eyeing the goblins ready to hit any that get closer to her...

The goblin warchanter moves closer still singing, or shrieking depending on how you interpret that, and eyes the people in the square... Then she stops singing, holds out a feather and a tiny little pop tart and mumbles some barely audible words...

Mengapa ayam itu menyeberang jalan? Labirin...

Radjiik: DC 12 will save. If you fail you fall prone laughing hysterically at the warchanter's terrible joke.

The goblins wielding torches move around as well... One seems to be trying to skulk around the tent to the south. A second one moves up in front of his leaders, apparently looking to protect them and holds out his torch menacingly. Camilla you have a readied attack on him, he's within 30 feet

The third one is running around the podium as fast as he can scraping his torch on the podium, but as he is running full speed, all he manages to do is almost put out his torch.

Faolan, Eros, Furnok and Radjiik are up.

New map: Updated map. Two of the flanking goblins just barely visible.

The one that looks nastier is the one just north of the Warchanter.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Still sick. Can't concentrate enough to do this properly (nor work for that matter.) Hopefully the new meds I got today will help..

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Still sick... Got new meds today, hopefully I'll be back in full force soon...

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Sorry for scant updates. Paizo's been down a lot and I've been sick when it wasn't. We should be back to normal starting tomorrow.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Map is just a screenshot from Fantasy Grounds. Haven't figured out a better way to handle this yet.

The goblin commando is laughing his socks off at the now brightly burning wagon, then gets closer to you all.

Viridi and Camilla are up next.

Updated map.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Long day at work catching up from my three days off. Too tired to get the combat going, especially after driving the cool car for 560km yesterday. Plus Radjiik is fastest but gave no actions ;)

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Totally irrelevant side note. It was actually a 150km navigation race. We scored maximum points, won our class of 21 cars. The winners of 3 of the 4 other classes also got max points. Not a single mistake all day... It was glorious :p And tiring... I was in the car from 7 am to 10:30 pm with some 2.5 hours in breaks in between.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

The crow munches up the piece of food quickly, then cocks its head as Ford starts talking to it...

The crow Squawks: Qaaa!! Walking bleak bones in the night!

A mouse squeaks: No meat! No meat!

The crow is startled by the mouse squeaking and takes off, flies a circle of the clearing and lands again looking at Goldi.

More? Have more? Bones back inside when yellow disc rises! Good answer yes?

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

The commando still has higher dex though so he still goes first. Not that I know what to do with him yet considering his lackeys are slow.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Once you get going you will be slicing them anyway ;) Think of it this way, they will be coming closer making it easier :p

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Side note: May not update tomorrow. I have a race with the car tomorrow. The start point for it is 200km away. 200km to get there, 120 km race, 200 km driving back. I'll have to see how awake I am. But hey, I am borrowing the copilot of a team that has won races before for this one so I'm excited... The pilot of the team couldn't make it to that race. 130 cars... Going for a top 10 finish...

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

I agree with that fully. It's the odd quirks that make a character feel unique.

And the thing is, not everyone are a wizard with words. Some people may have a truly great character idea, but have some trouble expressing it. Those people lose out in getting to play.

And yes, playing utterly optimised characters in Pathfinder isn't as much fun as playing somewhat flawed ones. The difficulty level of the adventures and APs doesn't expect super-optimised characters to begin with anyway.

In the other campaign all came back to being active as well btw... I was just handling their fight with just one goblin remaining wrong.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Anton: The entry doors into the Crypt look like they are made of sturdy oaken planks, they look heavy. From the one that is slightly ajar, you can see that they are very thick indeed. Inside though, it is pitch black and you cannot see anything through the tiny gap between them.

Goldi Muahaha ;) Not for these particular ponies any more though...

There are in fact some wild creatures around. A crow was pecking at the pony closest to the entrance, and flew of to sit in a tree nearby, eyeing you all, and that gorgeous meat. As you were approaching, you also chased of a pair of rats that were doing the same thing with the horse. They are hiding under a bush nearby.

The crow seems to be doubting to come back as Goldi is enticing it to... Then it flies over and lands on the ground close to Goldilocks, looking at her with some weird avian intelligence almost seeming to ask, What now?

Jilhanna:
Traces in the dust show that those doors have been open recently. You can see scrape marks that pushed recently fallen, and blown in leaves that were pushed aside.

Anton:
No traces of magic on the dead horses and the skeleton. Nothing either on the symbol above the door. There's a faint magical aura coming from between the doors however.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

As the group is getting introduced to each other, and looking to go and find some more goblins that are causing such a ruckus in Sandpoint, the ruckus grows louder. A LOT louder.

There's a big *WHOOSH* and a flash of yellowish light from the south, as the cart with the fuel for the bonfire that evening, erupts into flame, bellowing black smoke into the sky. Some goblins have open a barrel of oil that would have been used to get the bonfire going easily, and set it aflame! The fire is quickly spreading over the rest of the wagon laden with firewood.

Just behind it you see 5 goblins. Three are wielding torches which they are using to set more parts of the wagon on fire.

The other two are a somewhat tougher looking goblin armed with a horsechopper, and next to him a female goblin who is singing that blasted uncomprehensible song that has been reverberating through Sandpoint since the start of the attack, at the top of her lungs.

The three with torches are giggling and screeching maniacally at the pandemonium they just caused, but the one with the horsechopper seems to be barking orders at them, and pointing at you lot.

They look up, spot you and get ready to sprint towards you brandishing torches, their dogslicers hanging by their sides.

Obviously a second wave of goblins. Initiative all! Anyone who beats the Init on all three goblin types gets to act right now.

Pyros Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Commando Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Bard Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

And of course the pyros roll low. The Commando has 21 though...

Updated map with the Pyromaniac goblins!

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

My thing is I hate having to turn people down on mediocre character descriptions. And I AM new at this doing PbP. I chose to do first in with a decent character goes. So far it seems to work for our Everflame.

My other campaign may be starting to suffer from inactives...

Either way though Paizo forums suffers from the same problem as Roll20. Way more people wanting to play than there are people wanting to be GM.

I actually like being the DM. I would love playing a character again (which I haven't done in.. counting... some 5 years) but if my choice is between no DnD (ok Pathfinder) or being GM, that's an easy choice.

Either way, if I ever run Skulls and Shackles, consider yourself at the top of the list. In fact any of my current players go to top of the list for a next one.

I'll hold off on starting a third game for a while though. I want to be sure first I can handle what I have committed to first. If I felt really comfortable I could do a third one in parallel, I would do so, but I wouldn't even know yet what that would be.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

You manage to wrestle the horse aside. What's under the horse is not a fresh corpse. Not at all even, it's a fleshless skeleton. Furthermore, those bones look like they are decades old.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Oh cool another Everflame :) I'll just read this one to see how it works with another 5 man group. Mine just arrived at the crypt proper. Should be interesting to see this go :)

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Might as well... I don't think Viridi or Camilla would kill it on their turn...

Furnok charges the sole remaining goblin, striking it with his scythe, slicing open it's belly. The final goblin drops down dead.

So this initial group of goblins you had, they are all dead, killed by one of you or in one case, one taken out by Sheriff Hemlock.

Eros is hurt, but otherwise you are all intact.

Although you can still hear some goblins chanting all around Sandpoint, and there are sounds of combat from all sides, especially to the south, there are no goblins immediately visible to you all right now.

The gates of the cathedral are closed and there's also no longer any other people visible in the big square.

What do you all do next?

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Current action order: Viridi, Camilla, Furnok, Eros, Radjiik, Faolan. Now it is weekend of course. But Monday I'll just process anyone's actions that I do have is that is alright.

Lol at Furnok walking past the village btw :p

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Still no Viridi. I'll have her delay if there's no action yet tomorrow evening.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Luckily for you that rapid descent is quickly halted by a tree. You smack into it rather hard.

nonlethal damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

That'll leave a bruise...

After that you get hold of the rope again, and climb further down, without further mishaps.

Jilhanna, after having taken the rope everyone used, comes down as well, and falls when a stone somewhere in the middle of the slope she steps on suddenly gives way! Just like Ford before her, she slides down a ways and smacks into a big boulder.

nonlethal damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

I'll assume you travel on of course.

After that treacherous descent you move on towards the crypt. About an hour later (So one point of nonlethal would be gone by then), you arrive at the crypt.

An archway of stone is set into the side of a small hill at the bottom of the valley. Moss has overgrown many of the details,
but one is still quite clear. The keystone of the arch is carved
with a flame symbol with a stylized rune in the middle. Beyond
the archway is a darkened tunnel that leads to a pair of massive
wooden doors, one of which is slightly ajar.
A pair of horses and a trio of ponies lie slaughtered next to
the archway, each corpse still tied to a post set into the ground
nearby. A swarm of flies hangs lazily in the air above them.

Heal DC10:
These poor animals were slain with crude slashing weapons, or maybe claws. They look like they've been dead for 2 days.

Perception DC15:
There's something sticking out from under one of the two horses.. Is that the tip of a human foot?

Now what?

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Sorry real life intervened yesterday...

Goldi is the first to start climbing down. The slope turns out to be very treacherous indeed as she slips early on, but somehow manages to stay upright holding onto the rope.It was acrobatics rolls, so I added +3 to your rolls. After that Goldi pays a little more attention where she puts her feet and climbs down without further issues.

Truffles is nice and well-behaved in his sling, if looking a bit wild-eyed. He makes it down in one piece without any issues.

Aisling disregards the rope fully and simply walks down easily. She could have skateboarded down with those rolls :p

Anton follows, going carefully. And lucky for him, as he has his feet getting from under him as well somewhere in the earliest part. He manages to hold onto the rope however, and slowly makes his way to the bottom.

And then... Ford starts going down, his fairly heavy armour being no help in this endeavour at all. Not even far down yet, he steps on a bunch of wet leaves that promptly start sliding!

Reflex save for Ford to see how well he manages that fall!

And a reflex save for Jilhanna as well as she's descending the slope without the rope, so at higher difficulty... Narration for Jilhanna's descent once Ford is done.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Furnok: You are already 4 squares further north than in the last posted map.

Viridi is still first to act so waiting on her.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Just realized that action from Furnok was his move action from last round. I moved him up four squares on my map so Furnok is 20 yards further north than on the linked map.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

This square is deserted, other than for you folks and that one remaining goblin. You notice that the temple gates are closed now, you think they were open when the fighting started, and you do still hear that goblin singing and sounds of fighting further in the distance.

Goblin balapan dan goblin melompat.
Goblin dan goblin menabrak.
Bakar kulit dan hancurkan kepalanya,
Goblin di sini dan kau mati.

The last of the goblins makes a grab for the dogslicer of his fallen comrade. Seeing this gap in his defense, Eros lunges at him with his cutlass, but swings right above the gobbo as it bends over to grab the dogslicer.

I used your roll there as the AoO. Radjiik also gets an AoO. If that kills this goblin, disregard what follows.

The goblin moves sideways and strikes at Eros with his buddy's dogslicer!

Attack!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Possible damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

The attack hits and the dogslicer slices a rather nasty gash in Eros's leg!

If the goblin survives Radjiik's AoO, everyone is up again. I have an action for Furnok, but as always feel free to change your mind. One unhurt goblin remaining, and the only one to have actually done damage!

Updated map.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Waterworks were cancelled so I was at work after all. Not that I was needed here yet it looks like.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

It pays to pay attention ;) Good catch Jilhanna. In the other game someone just summoned a plant to kill an opponent next to an opponent that was killed just the post before... Yes, a plant.

Let me know what the plan is, the better the plan, the lower the roll DCs.

Side note, water mains broke at work so we're all working from home at least tomorrow until we have water again. So I should be able toi check in a few times during daytime tomorrow.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

That weird plant thing next to Furnok is the Leshy. I thought I had the proper Leshy token but I can't find it right now...

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Viridi just killed that one though... I'll plonk the Leshy in next to the one in the grease instead.

The Leshy strikes at the goblin with it's spear. The goblin, in spite of being greased, dances out of the way.

Furnok can actually five foot step to be next to that goblin, so he does that. Then he swings his scythe round in a mighty arc, neatly separating that goblin's head from his shoulders... That leaves you with a move action still, to be applied retro-actively

Eros runs over to flank the final remaining goblin.

Radjiik thrusts his rapier at that goblin, but in spite of it being flanked now, he misses completely this time.

Furnok still has a move action, Faolan is up. After him the goblin acts.

Updated map with the one remaining goblin. Note that that goblin is currently unarmed, it's dogslicer broke last turn.

Due to water being cut off tomorrow at work (there's a major leak somewhere nearby, and the water will be shut off as they fix it, I'm working from home tomorrow. Which means I can keep an eye on this ;)

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Goldi: At least within as far as you can see, the way down to the crypt is all a treacherous slope down.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Viridi smacks the goblin next to her in the head with her club. *BANG* A direct hit and it falls down dead with a visible dent in its skull.

Camilla is up next now. She was summoning a Leaf Leshy.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Using the rope will definitely help with climbing down safely.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Right looks like the dead man and the abandoned campsite have been explored...

You all head back south towards the crypt of the everflame. It's still quite a trek.

As you press on, the woods look more and more untouched by human civilization, the trees here are old and gnarly, and the path becomes narrow and barely recognisable as a path.

As you are walking, the weather turns.. It starts as a few droplets, and then turns into a steady and cold rain.

"
The trail leads ever deeper into the Fangwood, through a twisting maze of trees and confusing ravines. As it tops a small rise, a broad valley spreads out before it, the opposite side of which looks like a writhing serpent. Yet between the two lies a steep hill sloping down into the valley. A cold rain starts to fall, making the ground slick and treacherous.
"

Ahead of you is a steep descent into the valley where the crypt is. Wet uneven ground, thorny bushes, slippery loose shale all the way down.

It will take 3 acrobatics rolls each to get down without incident. Who said the outdoors was safe, or healthy?

Thanks Goldi :) I enjoy running this as well, and that is all due to you lot of course ;)

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

14 damage?? Jeez that poor goblin! :p

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Truffles looks at you thinking... Huh? Then he goes... Ooh water, I'm thirsty! And he goes and laps up some water from the lake.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Enemy status: Goblin near Faolan and Eros took 3 damage and looks bloodied. The other two are still unhurt.

Map: Current combat map.

Everflame: Map to Orc Combat Runelords: No maps yet.

Viridi draws her club and moves up to the goblin munching on Ameiko's glorious fish curry. The goblin looks at her looking surprised they are getting resistance.

Camilla runs over to the cover of a cart and starts casting a spell. It looks like a spell that takes some time.

I'll need to improvise a bit here to make the commands make more sense. Technically Furnok threw his spear at the goblin in front of Faolan but this set of events makes more sense... I think. Let me know if you prefer me to halt the action rather than loosely interpret your actions..

Furnok throws his spear at the goblin that pretended to be mayor on the podium. The spear goes straight through his ribcage and that goblin expires.

Eros fires at the goblin threatening Faolan. That would have been a difficult shot for anyone, but Eros is adept at hitting opponents in close combat. His bullet hits him in the shoulder. That goblin now looks bloodied.

Radjiik strikes at the goblin in front of him. Startled by having yet another goblin facing him though, he thrusts his rapier at nothing but air.

Faolan moves back a bit and casts a spell.. Grease in the scratched out area

All of a sudden, fatty grease appears in the area in front of him. The goblin is now covered in slippery fats and ...

Reflex throw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

It falls flat on its face.

The goblin who bit the onion heard the retort of Eros's gun, and panics... He flees to the west between Viridi and Camilla. Disclaimer, I miscalculated the upgrade to the encounter because of 2 extra players... There should have been 5, not 6. So this one buggers off In the distance you see sherrif Hemlock brace himself for that goblin, and as it tries to run by, run it through with his sword.

The goblin facing Radjiik attacks him with his dogslicer...

Radjiikslicer again: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

He hits Radjiik and... The blade part of his Dogslicer just falls off..

The goblin in front of Viridi is feeling great now that he filled both his pockets and stomach with fish curry, and attempts to slice her up...

Viridislice: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 But his attack falls well short as he is a bit slower due to maybe indigestion. He burps again and then looks at Viridi a tad fearful maybe...

The prone goblin near Eros and Faolan gets his one leg under him, then his other... He's slipping and sliding but he's up! He tries to walk over to Eros and...

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

He slips and slides and slips and slides and falls on his face again.
He tries to get up again, and...

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Is now standing.

All up to you again. You still have three goblins in the immediate vicinity. One fighting Radjiik, one right next to Viridi and one struggling with the slippery surface Faolan threw out. What does everyone do?
