Hi all! When I'm not suggesting music over at the Music threads, I do a blog called The Daily Bestiary. It's three adventure seeds every weekday for every monster* in the Bestiary books (in ABC order). I've mentioned it here once before, but the reason I'm writing today is that we just hit the letter N. That means we're halfway through the alphabet and headed Z-wards...and I'm pretty excited about that. If you love monsters or adventure ideas, feel free to drop in, browse, and comment. As an added bonus, I also post a two-hour radio show every week for your listening pleasure. The easy-to-read Tumblr is here; the older (as in clunky-and-impossible-to-edit, so mind the typos) complete archive is here. Hope you enjoy! *Bestiary 3 monsters start with the letter E. Inner Sea Bestiary monsters start in two weeks with the nightripper. We'll loop back around to catch the monsters we missed.

I was taking a look at graven guardians for my monster blog, and came up with this chart for picking their domains randomly or on the fly. Just grab some d10s and roll twice on this chart: Graven Guardian Domains
You can also use the same chart to come up with new deities. Just roll on the above chart two, three, or even four times and see what you get. Then roll on the below chart for your new deity’s alignment: Deity Alignment
Don’t stress if your rolls appear to conflict with each other; instead, think of it as an opportunity for invention. An evil deity with the Sun and Repose domains might be a vengeful desert god who punishes both tomb defilers and the undead. A deity with the domains of Good and Evil might be a god of balance or a mad god with a split personality, etc., etc.... Hope that's useful! If you like, you can check out the rest of my graven guardian post on Tumblr or Blogger.

OK, actually I made you 16/19s of a mix. Download it here. Background: Every year I miss my show on Easter, so I make my listeners a mix, and I've been meaning to post it here for you guys. What's missing? Three songs I can't share because they were bought and paid for from iTunes. (Everything else came from free legit sites, typically from Stereogum or the bands' websites themselves.) So if you want the full mix, go out and buy yourself... Track 4: Laura Stevenson & the Cans "Master of Art"
...and you'll have the whole thing. Look at me, all respecting copyright & stuff...

Hi all. If you're looking for more tunes while you're browsing the archives, I do a weekly show called The New Indie Canon on 88.1 WMUC-FM at the University of Maryland at College Park. Fair warning: My show has nothing to do with Pathfinder. It's an indie rock/pop/folk show, with a heavy bias toward playing new music. The show gets archived on mp3 for a week for your time-shifting convenience. And I post the details most Mondays on my blog. So, for instance, you can 1) stream this week's show here or 2) download it here. Or 3) you can skip my blog entirely and find the music most every week at the source here. Serves me right for being such a shameless self-promoter. :-) (Oh, and if the feed skips, just save the file and play it in iTunes.) Thanks for listening!

Hi all! I always enjoyed the "Monsters in Golarion" feature of the Adventure Path monster entries. So I decided to write my own entries, good for any setting, in a blog. Three adventure seeds for every monster. In (because I'm crazy) alphabetical order. It's been 10 months. I'm up to the letter G. And I've only missed a handful of monsters so far. I call it The Daily Bestiary. You can find monsters A-G on Blogger (bear with the odd typo; Blogger makes going back to fix a pain) and just G over on Tumblr. Enjoy! |
