However, as I'm prepping the next adventure, it seems that the Skinsaw cult's existence is much more of a secret. Did I blow it? The party is already eagerly questioning Sandpoint about the Skinsaw Men (obviously, with no success). I wouldn't worry about it. My group is just a bit behind yours (4e version though). I don't think you have a big problem. Even if you did not tell them about the Skinsaw cult, PCs have a habit of figuring things out ahead of schedule anyway. My group figured out the whole Nualia thing right after they were told of the grave robbery of her parent Tobyn (heavy meta-gaming there). It did not derail anything and just enhanced enjoyment of the game. This is because everytime they discovered something that supported their (admittedly meta-game) hypothesis, the PC putting forth the theory would say, "see I told you". You are probably in a similar situation. Through meta-gaming your players know that the Skinsaw Cult is probably going to be important to later events BUT THEIR CHARACTERS DO NOT. Encourage your players to identify and role play this distinction. Of course they just may wish to destroy the Skinsaw Cult on their own because of the evil it represents and this is a good thing as well as it will make them feel more ownership of the events in Pathfinder 2.

During a presidential forum at Pastor Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church on Saturday, McCain told a story of a guard who wordlessly drew a cross in the dirt one Christmas, describing it as a moment that gave him strength. Critics in the blogosphere said that McCain, who was released in 1973, had not mentioned the incident until shortly before his 2000 presidential bid, and had relayed it in the third person on at least one occasion. They also pointed to similarities between McCain’s account and a similar story in Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s The Gulag Archipelago, his account of life in the Soviet labor camp system. McCain aide Michael Goldfarb, in a message posted on the campaign’s Web site Monday, said Swindle – now a campaign surrogate – told him the presumptive Republican nominee had related the story “’when we first moved in together [in captivity].’ That was in the summer of 1971, Swindle said, though ‘time blurred’ and he couldn't be sure,” wrote Goldfarb. He also said that it was logical that Christians in both Russia and Vietnam might have used many of the same subtle signals during that era. “It may be typical of the pro-Obama Dungeons & Dragons crowd to disparage a fellow countryman's memory of war from the comfort of mom's basement, but most Americans have the humility and gratitude to respect and learn from the memories of men who suffered on behalf of others,” he wrote. “John McCain has often said he witnessed a thousand acts of bravery while he was imprisoned, and though not every one has been submitted into the public record, they are remembered by the men who were there (one such only recently reported by Karl Rove though it escaped mention in any of Senator McCain's books). But as Swindle said, this is a ‘desperate group of people trying to make something out of nothing.’” In December, shortly before the primary season began, McCain's campaign used the story of the cross as the basis for a Christmas-themed campaign ad. This is NOT a month old issue. The original interview by Rick Warren took place on 8/16/08. The spin doctoring obviously began after that. The worst thing gamers can do is nothing!
This is NOT about who you want for president. This is about prejudice and D&D being used as the 21st century equivalent of the "n" word. I hope there are a number of McCain supporters out there who are willing to take their candidate to task.

I voted goblins. Though, like others, I prefer the original black and white with the original goblin song. It must have the "BE"! We BE goblins you BE food is so much funnier! I plan to sing this song to my players in an upcoming 4e Pathfinder campaign I am preparing. Does anyone have any music for that? In any case I will purchase the goblin shirt even if it is the new color one.
1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D? Yes I will convert. I was quite unhappy with last summer's announcement of a new addition (as were most of us). That said, the advantages presented by the DIGITAL INITIATIVE has persuaded me to be fully on board now. 2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products? I would be an even more enthusiastic customer. 3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products? Little to none. The last couple of weeks I have been purchasing Pathfinder materials from my local gaming store with plans to convert it to 4.0 ASAP. I am interested in Pathfinder for the quality of the campaign and adventures not due to what particular edition is on the label. Presumably with the digital initiative, translating stats from 3.5 to 4.0 should be relatively painless. If you want some unsolicited advice, I would suggest publishing materials in both 3.5 and 4.0. I am hardly an expert in the business world but it seems to me that selling downloadable PDFs would allow you to have your cake and eat it so to speak. |
