The spring Concentric was excellent. It's too bad it was kind of sparsely attended - they had plenty of great events going. Met Todd Breitenstein (Twilight Creations) who was running a Mega-Zombies game with $100+ in give-aways. Won a copy of Tutankhamen (plenty of other games had prizes, too). Favorite new discoveries were both from Mayfair.

CGC is in Bloomingdale (not Bloomington, which I used to always mix up when I was young), btw. Also for Chicago-areaers - the Concentric folks have returned with two major local conventions, one coming up in early October. http://rock-con.com/index.html

Well, you'd want to maximize the variety and replayability - I'd quickly take
The fifth would be lot harder. Blood Bowl, Bridges of Shangi-La, Titan (hey, an apocalypse leaves you with a lot of time on your hands, you know), and maybe an Icehouse set all come to mind. But I think I might go for an old-fashioned deck of cards w/poker chips.
 > Try to convert people. > Try leaving notices at the nearest gamestore(s) or using Internet player locators. > If you have cheap long distance and conference call capability, play that way. > There are Internet interfaces designed for on-line real-time D&D gaming. Only vaguely familiar with them, but I'm sure others here know more. You don't need that many people. I think a DM + 2, 3 players tops is optimal.
Here's what I saw listed to go up: In some cases I'm not sure if it's the item or the original art for the item that's going up. Have to wait and see, I guess. David C. Sutherland III Collection
Howdy Folks, As promised, here is a teaser for the upcoming David C. Sutherland III collection auction. Not all lots are included here and some titles are subject to change. There are still a few pieces of original cartography/art to be entered. The auction will begin, Sunday, Sept. 12th at 20:00 CST. Good luck and enjoy! TSR Employee Only Tiffany Crystal Dragon Logo

Keeping it brief: Early AD&D artist David Sutherland is terminally ill and auctioning off many prints and *originals* (via a third party - no, not me). Sutherland's most recognizable work is the 1st ed DMG cover, but his art has appeared everywhere in the early years of D&D, Dragon included, of course. Well-wishes and appreciation for his art can be sent to him via his sister at Trudyjean@aol.com The art is scheduled to start going up on eBay approximately Sept 12.
Two of Northern IL's best local cons are both coming up in November.

Who was there? What'd you do? I'm not going to write 'real' reviews :)
SENATOR - Roman senators bid on various 'agenda' tiles. Try to collect the most 'non-conflicting' agendas. A bit complicated (esp. for early Sun morning), but pretty good.
Free Plug: The designer said he's still tweaking and talking with publishers, so it's not commercially available yet - but LAB RATS was a solid offering. Players play tiles and special cards to try get their rats out the maze first. |
