Hello all!
I'm currently building a campaign where one of the characters is a monk from Vudra. In looking through the various bits and pieces on the gods and going with an India flavor... I'm wondering if there was specific inspiration for the Holy Texts such as Irori's accounts in the Azvadeva Pujila or the tome of exercises "Unbinding the Fetters".
Using some real life books like The Lotus Sutra and changing up names and places (Buddha = Irori for example) I'm making some physical books that the monk can discover along the way and that I can hand to him at the table. While the book itself will have some straight dice value (you read it and have a chance at X) I'm also burying actual things into the passages like spells, hints, possible story lines etc.
I started noticing fun facts like Irori's nephew stays behind to guide people to Nirvana. Or that Irori has a villain "that is mentioned throughout the texts" and it made me think that the Paizo guys might have some real titles that they are basing on compared to me wading through a lot of texts and not finding the spirit of "the right ones".
Anyways, I'd be interested to hear if any of you have delved into that ;)
Thanks!!!
