Description:
Spoiler:

Corvin dresses in very normal clothing, with dark grey breeches and matching shirt underneath a leather longcoat, granting him protection from the vagaries of nature. Coupled with this, Corvin also often wears a wide-brimmed hat, made out of the same kind of leather as his coat. Corvin's brown hair and jade green eyes give his already pleasingly athletic frame the finishing touches. Another thing of note is the fact that Corvin bears a scar starting along his right cheek that follows his jawline all the way to his ear, where a part of the earlobe has been torn away.

Personality:
Spoiler:

Corvin is a study of balance - he is at once arrogant and humble, likable and aggressive, conservative and spontaneous. Corvin loves life, loves magic more, and desire to obtain the heady heights of master that many mages aspire towards, but few reach. Corvin is focused and determined to this through, but not at the expense of his relationships.

Background:
Spoiler:

From an early age, Corvin showed an interest (and talent) for magic – to the degree that his father, Mikhail Vathis (himself an alumni of the institute), arranged for him to be taught there. Once he passed the entrance exam (in itself no mean feat), Corvin quickly demonstrated a definitive talent for the magical arts. More than one teacher commented that it was more like he was remembering how to work magic, as opposed to learning it from scratch – despite the fact that Mikhail never taught him anything.
Corvin went on to make a number of friends during his time there, including becoming a couple with Varna, a fellow mage-in-training.
Six weeks before graduation, a field trip was organized for Corvin’s class. They would be teleported outside the city for a test far away from anything destructible. At first, everything went smoothly, but within an hour of arriving, a skirmish broke out between the Academae students and a roving band of goblins.
A slight twist of fate was the only thing that saved Corvin that day – he had been dozing under a tree when the attack came, and as he stood, and arrow slashed his cheek and tore out part of his ear. Fleeing the battle, Corvin didn’t find out until later that Varna had been killed by the goblins, driving a bitter hatred of goblinkind into his bones. Now a recent graduate of Korvosa’s Academae, Corvin is at somewhat of a loss on what to do, but the idea of joining the guard appeals to him somewhat.
