Just in case things get rolling this week, I want to provide a heads-up that I will be locked up with GenCon from Thursday through Sunday. Past experience shows that I will not be able to post and by the end I won't be able to speak either. Fortunately, the fingers should be just fine come the following Monday.

Deal. After the 22nd works great. I actually have a pitch on the 25th so I might be a little harried that week, but I'm sure I'll be around. At the moment I'm inclined to level up Ninivic, but I'll see if any new ideas grab me.

Edit: Typical Wealth by Level? In other words, 3000 gp for 3rd level?

Whoa, missed a whole bunch of conversation there :) I'll echo the kudos to you as a GM Alice. You've been doing a great job. I'm definitely ok with a reset or any other change you want to introduce and I'll chime in with my apologies if anything I've done has contributed to the lack of fun. Ninivic will definitely have some stronger options with a couple more levels on him so anywhere in that 3-5 range would be grand. Going higher always risks not really knowing what your character can do very well or how the characters interact with some many more abilities and options layered on, but I've had a couple great games start at level 5 so I think no danger going even that high.

"Pretty sure its a bomb Kiley. Smells like my gunpowder. Ticking could be a timer or it might just be set and could go off if opened or jostled too much. I think its a bad idea to go after it where the chest is now, but moving it could be just as bad."

Once Ajax returns with the other chest, Ninivic suggests "Perhaps we ought to just leave the ticking chest alone. Here let's see about getting the one Ajax just brought back out in the hallway and I'll get that one opened up." Once Ajax has brought the chest to the hallway (outside room 3) Ninivic brings his picks out again and sets to the lock. This time the lock falls much easier to his ministrations, clicking open almost immediately.

Ninivic laughs as Kiley easily throws him off the chest "Its not that much gold Kiley. Thanks for the help though!" Ninvic returns to the room with the skeletons.

I think we can advance the 10 mins unless something happens...
Once ten minutes are up, Ninivic darts back in to grab the opened chest and drag it back out to the "safety" of the room with the skeletons (Gladly accepting any aid someone wants to offer).

Ninivic nods his head knowingly, "Not so easy, eh? Look, let's wait 10 minutes and see if the ceiling gets any worse. If not, we go in and drag out the chest I've already opened and we grab the other one that doesn't sound and smell like a bomb. If anyone really wants the ticking one, they can drag it out and I'll disarm it when we get back up top.

The one already open with the gold weighs about 105 pounds unless its unusually heavy. Even Ninivic and his Str 8 can drag that one out once he's sure that ceiling is stable.

Ninivic calls out, "Easy for you to say Zeltor. You want that trap disarmed, then grab the chest and we'll do it outside this hole where it isn't going to bring a ceiling down on us if it blows. And you'd better fecking hurry because Molasbar's flames might have already weakened that ceiling enough to bring it down on our heads!"

Seriously, there is no reason to take a chance here. There is an obvious trap involving the green slime and we may have already triggered it. Reread the description. There is no refilling reservoir. It's full and could come down at any moment and especially if this chest blows. This is a classic old school trap of some sort. Fortunately, your ratfolk trapsmith is a paranoid son of a b#!%! and didn't live as long as he has by taking chances like this one. I'm especially not disarming the ticking one in that room. You want it, haul it out to a safer location or we can figure out a way to safely get rid of the slime. I'm also ok leaving that one where it is. Not trying to slow things down. Trying to stay alive.

Mmmmm...so let's see. We've got a room that puts you asleep until you die, followed by a room with a ceiling about to collapse, followed by a little tiny dead end room full of wonderful treasure and a ticking bomb. Not this little black rat :)

"If we have to hurry, I'm not screwing around with them here! Drag them out or just grab this one with the gold and we can try again if that ceiling holds up!" Ninivic retreats into the room with the skeletons in the bedrolls.

Ninivic moves on to the next chest, but whirls when he hears something happening outside the room. "Hey, everything all right out there? This next one might be messy if I get interrupted and I'm particularly fond of the way my limbs are currently arranged!"

Ninivic chuckles as Doon-Kahn retreats from the room and Kiley heads for the door. "Not just the Commander has it out for me, eh? Very well, let's see what we've got here." Joining Zeltor, the ratfolk hunches over the leftmost chest, giving it a good look all around and of course paying particular attention to the area around the lock itself.
Taking 20 and spamming guidance provides a 30 for each check.

"Mmmmm...something poisonous for sure on this first one. Ajax, mind giving me a little nudge in the right direction on this one. Not sure I've encountered the like before." getting out his tools, Ninivic sets to work on the trap, trying to see what he's dealing with and how to best disarm it. "Right here I think..." He inserts a pick into a small slot and presses firmly.

"Oops, that wasn't it." Bracing himself for something horrible about the happen, Ninivic breathes a deep sigh when he realizes he pressed the reset and not the release that surely would have injected him with some deadly venom. Kneading his hands together he remarks, "Ok, that was close. Let me try this again." He works at the mechanism again, this time convinced that a small silver-lined hole must be the safety. "Let's have that luck again Ajax. Think I almost killed myself there."

This time feeling a satisfying 'click' that doesn't seem to set anything off, he sets to the lock itself.

"Bugger these good locks. You all sure we haven't found any keys?" He continues working the lock until it cracks and opens the chest.

"Sure Molasbar, let's see if you can find anything else. If you don't, I'd say we should move onto one of those doors. We can rest if those of you who cast spells need it."

Ninivic's eyes widen as he sees the creature open its eyes. "Oh damn, why can't these things stay dead. Quick let's kill it again!" The Corporal quickly tosses the flask of holy water onto the abomination. Unfortunately in his haste, the bottle breaks against the lip of the stone coffin, shattering before it reaches the ghoul.

Ninivic's neck snaps around as Zeltor falls to the ground. "Another reminder that hazards seem to be everywhere down here. That could have just as easily been much worse." He turns back to the sarcophagus. "We seem really uncertain here. But, its not magical and the evil seems to lie within." He hands a vial of holy water to Zeltor. "Let's see what we've got. I'll check this for mundane traps and then I'll get a vial of the holy water ready to throw. You do the same Zeltor. Ajax, you can get ready to do your thing if its undead." Once everyone is ready, Ninivic examines the surface for any traps.

While the group debates their next action, Ninivic shifts and hears a 'clink' from his backpack. He shrugs it off his shoulder and looks inside. "Of course, while I only bought one, I forgot that we found two more with a dead adventurer in here. Ajax, how many more times do you think you can call on your power?"

Thanks for the reminder Alice. Doesn't look like any of us ever added it to inventory.

Sorry, I fell a little behind myself, but caught up now. Whoosh, we're back at the dungeon with new cannon fodder :)

@GM Alice: Ok to handwave that during the storms, Ninivic used 300 gp of his loot to buy some supplies from around town to patch up his old beat up weapon and make it masterwork (per the Gunsmithing feat)? If you'd rather have him play out ordering supplies from his unit or something along those lines, that's cool too.

"Kiley, I'm less concerned about the Hellknights than the running. I've met all sorts of people on the front lines over at the Wound. A lot of them had something they had to get away from." He pauses to have a drink of his ale. "The Drezen Rats are a pretty tight bunch. I don't always see eye to eye with my officers, but one thing I do know is that I need to stand with my unit. Lots of times it looks pretty hopeless, but if everyone is there doing their job, we'll make it out. I'm not saying we never retreat. I've run from the demons more times than I can count and this place looks to be just as bad. But, we do it together." He stops drinking, puts his mug down and looks Kiley in the eye. "Now what I have to know before I'm ready to go down with you is why you ran and if you're going to do it again. We already had a mess down there once because of this idiot Reggie who didn't know how to work with the group. I don't mind facing a squad of Hellknights down the road if you're going to be a good companion and stand by us. But, if you're going to be running first sign of trouble, I think you might want to find another group."

I'm definitely in favor of continuing also. I may be a little slower than normal over the next couple weeks, but should be able to still update fairly regularly. It may coincide with plans to recruit and slow down for a bit anyway, but if you need to GM PC Ninivic to keep things moving, please do.
