When a caster creates a demiplane, they're allowed to create a portal. So that's one way. Gate is another; you get to go anywhere you want.

As for plane shift, there's never been any mention of where you get the focus (or how hard it is to get, or where you get it), just that you have one. If it's your demiplane, I'd expect it would be pretty easy to create.

I thought that you could only make a portal with the advanced version not the lesser.

There is no 'ruling' for this. If you're a player, ask your GM. If you're a GM, do what makes sense to you.

If they're entering a demiplane via plane shift I'd just put them in a random place in the plane.

When ejected to a plane, I'd put them 5-500 miles from the location where the create demiplane spell was cast.

But here's the rub: plane shift requires that someone has a tuning fork attuned to the destination plane. Where'd they get a tuning fork attuned to a demiplane created by create demiplane?

Thanks for the response. I agree with your interpretations. For the tuning fork, would it need to be attuned to the specific Demiplane (and how does one attune a tuning fork?) or to the Astral or Ethereal plane? Essentially, I am looking for a way to travel back to a created demiplane, so I could attune the fork if possible.

I have two questions:

1. If you plane shift to a lesser demiplane where do you end up? The issue is you arrive 5-500 miles of target per plane shift, but the demiplane is no where near that big. Do you end up somewhere else on the astral or ethereal plane? or do you just end up randomly on the demiplane?

2. If you eject a creature out of your demiplane back to the material plane, where on the material plane do they go?
