Connor hadn't taken K'Don's maturity test yet, as he hadn't quite decided how he felt about the larger creature, and being tested by it made him anxious. He expected that the tests would involve the warrior wanting to eat WindDancer, teaching Connor all about sacrifice, or having him face his fears and stand in front of a mirror for a full day. The idea of such trials made the boy feel queasy. When K'Don came up to him, though, and got down to his level, speaking to him rather than shouting, Connor realised that he was just a person, like anyone else. Even though he looked scary, it seemed to Connor that he might himself be afraid. He knew that Alex was afraid, but somehow it was different knowing that something scary could itself be scared. Connor puffs out his chest. "You can count on us! Right, WindDancer?" He glances at the creature with a grin. "C'mon, girl, let's find some higher ground." I'd like to take a bit of time to scout out a good vantage point for us.

While that's true, it isn't an idea that should be relied upon because it's not how I'm planning to play Connor. Casting bolt at everything is not going to be his style.
I'm imagining Connor being somewhat utility - he's got the healing power, and an attack power. His size and ability to read minds (which hasn't come up yet) should make him a useful scout. The slingshot can make a great distraction, even if it doesn't do a lot of damage. But he'll be relatively useless when it comes to melee, and will avoid it as much as possible. If the game goes long enough that we get him around 16, I might have him start using a firearm at that point (maybe even closer to 14), but he just feels too young for it now. Plus once we hit seasoned, I have a couple of other powers for Connor to learn (Slumber, and maybe Quickness or Invisibility or Teleport.)
Sorry my life is several kinds of a mess right now. As the noise increases, and Alex expresses a desire to keep Connor out of harm's way, the boy's eyes flutter open from where he sit dosing, and as the Baron comes to his defense, Connor gets the idea, too, that he is almost a man, and quickly jumps up. "I can take care of myself!" he insists. "If people are in danger, we must help them." He looks up at Alexander in a pleading sort of way. "If we don't, who will?"
ZenFox42 wrote: Connor - either upgrade Investigation and Psionics, or add Lockpicking or Climbing at d4 - which are you doing? Keep in mind, trees may or may not always be available to climb up, and if they have lots of limbs you don't even need to roll... Sorry for the radio silence, been super busy. I think I'll take climbing and lockpicking!
I'm fine with this change, though I want to make my intentions clear up front, as well. Connor will not be getting any more powers, or any more PP, or any higher Spellcasting, until he hits seasoned. This means that as written, casting 3 Bolts would take 33.3% of my mana - which makes it risky, both because I cannot do it often, and also because it means having less PP around to do other things with. With that said, I don't intend to use Bolt all that much anyway. Connor will be spending his Novice time still learning to use his powers (There's one that we haven't even seen yet), and at some points he'll find himself unable to manifest them. Partially because they're still new to him, partially because he doesn't entirely know how to manifest them, they won't be something that he automatically thinks of. Like he hasn't asked WindDancer to attack anything yet - it hasn't occurred to him. I'm not even sure he knows that the dust storms are her doing. In retrospect, I wish that during the fight with the wolves, I had done something more clever, because that's more the direction that I want Connor to go in. So, for this level up, rather than upgrading Psionics and Investigation like I had intended, I want to do something else. Assuming that it will work with my slingshot as well as any firearms, I'd like to raise Shooting from 1d4 to 1d6. I'm also considering picking up Lockpicking (at 1d4), but I'm skeptical about how useful that might be in this environment / world. If not Lockpicking, I'd like to pick up Climbing (1d4), for trees, which certainly could have uses.
I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong: You can raise Fighting up over Agility, but that would be the entirety of what you get for the Advancement. The way it works is that if a Skill has a lower die than the attribute it's tied to, it's cheaper to upgrade. That's why I was looking to raise two skills, because they're both lower than my Smarts. This means that if you raise Agility, Fighting does not automatically go up, but it becomes cheaper for it to go up later. Eg: If you raise Agility now, then you could raise Fighting and Riding next time, because your Agility die is then higher than your Fighting die.

Do we know more or less how long until we hit Seasoned? Just for appropriate planning purposes. High is Bad: 1d100 ⇒ 65
After the horror of seeing the family ripped to pieces, Connor was stunned into being unsure of how to react. When he finally was able to recover himself, he remained unsure of how he could help. He watched Alex and K'Don swing their blades and fire their guns, and noted that he had neither. Instead he studies what Marko again, and wonders if maybe he can do the same thing. He copies the man's movements, and is disappointed to find that nothing happens when he does. Scratching his head, the boy wondered what he was doing wrong. Then he noticed how Marko had shouted, and he remembered something from his youth - a cello teacher who had shouted at him for just playing the instrument and not feeling the music. Going through the motions again, this time very deliberately, and slightly differently as he let his feelings carry him, Connor ended the motion with a devastatingly loud shout. Psychic vs B: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Psychic vs C: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Psychic vs F: 1d8 ⇒ 7
PP 7/10
Connor yawns as the group walks, feeling tired out from the excitement of the morning. If not for the fact that they kept moving, coupled with the frequent shouting from the Monster, Connor might have fallen asleep right there. The presence of the big creature was something that Connor still did not entirely understand. It made no moves to eat anyone, and though it was often loud, no one seemed particularly scared of it. He knew WindDancer did not care for it, though, and that was enough for him. Notice & Wild: 1d8 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + (2) = 5 No luck on noticing Arabella and Alex's interactions.
Connor had been standing off in the back, using a stick to draw in the dirt when Alex engaged with him. Smiling up at his uncle, he sends positive thoughts to WindDancer, the joy of being treated as an adult, of being included. Shoot 20: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Shoot 40: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Connor doesn't shoot for the furthest target, being not as adept with a gun, but has fun shooting at the closer pumpkins and seeing them burst. His expression turns from joy to wonder as he sees what Marko can do, however. He looks up at the older man, "Wow! How do you DO that?!"

I'm not sure I follow - I personally feel that there's far more opportunity to explore these kinds of experiments in PBP rather than Tabletop.
The Night Before Connor seems pleased, albeit a bit embarrassed, at all the attention he's getting, especially given that he doesn't understand what happened, either. "I... I don't know." He stammers, his eyes welling up with tears of confusion. "I don't remember a sand blast." The improved feelings of everyone cause him to relax slightly, but through whatever happened, Connor still seems very worn out, as only a child can be, and he falls asleep before long, with Alex carrying him, the boy's head buried in his shoulder. The Morning K'Don's gesture of good will would likely have gone over better with Connor had the boy understood when the larger creature was joking. As the medal is placed around him, Connor smiles at the gnome, but then wonders after a second if he's being tricked. He moves as if to tear off the medallion, and says, adamantly, "It's pretty, but you can't have WindDancer. She's my friend."
Psionics (Heal): 1d8 ⇒ 7
So I believe the way that this works is that I take a penalty for every wound that Alex has (1?) and every wound that I have (0), and then every Success after that subtraction heals a wound. Which means Alex's wound should be healed. As the group begins walking, Connor notices first that his uncle Alex seems to be staggering a bit, and then that he seemed to be keeping one of his hands close to his body, even as the other was around Connor's. "You're hurt!" he exclaims, and frees his hand from Alex's before stopping and placing his hands softly on the wound. "Does it hurt?" With his eyes welling up with tears, he begins babbling rapidly. "It's my fault I should have stayed in the hotel I don't want you to die. Please be okay. Please." Connor breaks down into incoherence, sobbing pleading demands. As he pulls his hands away to type the tears from his eyes (and smearing blood on his face as he does so), Alex's blood finally starts to clot. The boy stares in confusion, sniffling at the tears trailing down his face, as he and Alex see the wound begin to slowly close.

I guess that means I did my malfunction incorrectly during combat, but that's fine, this is how we learn. As to your custom spell: Quote: An illusion cannot be larger than human-sized (1”), but for 2 Power Points it can be the size of a Small Burst template, for 4 Power Points it covers a Medium Burst template, and for 6 Power Points it fills a Large Burst Template. Power points for additional senses are then added to these base costs. I'm not sure what this means. Do you mean the default for 1 point means that it has to be human-sized? Or that it still can only be so tall?
Can we possibly do more to keep the Discussion in the Discussion tab? My thought process is that A) It uglies up Gameplay, B) It makes it harder to follow what's happening, especially for people who can't check the thread frequently, and also C) It's harder to go back and find things like Rules clarification later because you're now checking two threads.

There are a couple of limitations with it at the moment, though.

I haven't played it at all before. Connor was going to use Bolt (likely still as a scream / sonic attack), so it was kind of both.
Psionics: 1d8 ⇒ 1
As the gun goes off, Connor lets out an incredibly loud scream that echoes through the alley, shattering windows and street lamps, before he collapses to the ground breathing hard. Connor is shaken. Everyone within a loud template has to make a Spirit check or also be shaken. (Only able to perform Free Actions)
Yeah they were looking for a Web Dev a couple of months ago so I sent my resume and portfolio over. I wasn't really thrilled with the idea of moving to Texas, but they're one of the few companies that I'd drop everything to work for (Valve being another). It worked out, though, I'm very happy where I'm working now.
Notice: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Connor is about to protest Alexander leaving him behind when he sees his uncle take out his weapon. Knowing that Alexander rarely does so unless there's actual trouble, he closes his mouth, staring wide-eyed as the man walks towards the three women. 'I hope they aren't bad people.' Connor thinks to WindDancer. 'But be ready in case. We may need to protect uncle Alex.'
Although unsure of exactly what happened, or what it meant when the large Orc said they would talk later, Connor was pleased to find his feet again on solid ground. 'I don't know how you can do it,' he thought to WindDancer. 'I would be afraid of falling.' Connor approached Alexander with a look like a dog with a tail between its legs. "I know." He replied with a sad and sheepish look. "But the lady said there would be adventure, and you told me that it's only okay to let a lady get into trouble if you show up to rescue her." As the introductions go around, Connor announces proudly, "Her name is WindDancer."
Okay here we go. Connor is pleased when Marko welcomes him, but his eyes darken somewhat at Arabella's chastising. She promised him there would be adventure and now wanted him to stay home? Grown-ups were so confusing! He starts to voice an adamant reply when the monstrous creature lifts him off the ground. Spirit: 1d6 ⇒ 1
"Put me down!" He yelps, struggling in the creature's hands. As Alexander approaches and makes unsuccessful and loud demands as well, with a weapon in his hand, Connor begins to slightly panic. Unsure of what else to do while he's hanging there, he takes a page from WindDancer's book and lunges forward, biting the creature on the nose. Fighting: 1d4 ⇒ 3
ZenFox42 wrote: Connor, I hope you're not offended by my writing your appearance, I wasn't sure if you were waiting for me or if I was waiting for you. I didn't think that was a problem since I didn't think I was really DMRP'ing you, just indicating that you had arrived. Nah. I ought to have said that I wouldn't be around much over the holiday weekend, so it's my fault, really. But DMPC'ing within 24 hours is also very quick, so I was mostly just surprised. I was a bit bummed when I saw it because I was looking forward to roleplaying Connor sneaking out, but I understand the desire to move things forward, too. With that said, my schedule is such that it's unlikely that I'll be able to get a post up every single day, especially over weekends (and plus I'm starting a new job this week, and on top of that have a funeral to attend), so I'm not sure how that will affect things going forward. I certainly don't want to slow things down.
Before When the Dwarf was short with Connor, he shrunk back, unsure of what it was truly asking. There wasn't anything special about him. He was just a boy. Feeling safer when Marko and Alexander came to his defense, he stood tall once more, seeming to challenge the Dwarf with his eyes. Once Alexander got up and left, the boy felt confused and uncertain of what he should do, and stuck near Marko. Arabella took him outside and asked him to look for someone watching them, but Connor still didn't trust her after WindDancer's reaction, and spent most of the time watching her warily from a distance. He came back only when Alexander started calling for him.
Honestly, even if you guys were aware of Connor having powers, you are adults and it will be in your nature to try and protect him. Even a magic-using child is still a child, and while there's a definite value there (How much will Alexander like it when he finds out Connor can read minds? Hellllllooooo nefarious purposes), they will still do what they can to keep him out of harm's way. With that said, Connor is absolutely the type of child who is both a troublemaker and is not accustomed to having an adult around to tell him otherwise - Since Connor's father died and the mother has been unsure how to handle him, he's been able to do basically anything he pleases. We even saw on the boat where his reaction to Alexander telling him to get down was essentially "Shut up or help me". This is a boy who is not accustomed to discipline. All this to say - Go ahead and rush off on adventures, but rest assured that Connor will absolutely find a way to be there. Arabella told him there would be adventure - he's not going to miss it just because someone says he can't go.
