Thank you so much GM!

Can I ask a favor? If we are all done here, can you mark this thread as inactive please? Would be great to get it off of the active list.

I really had a blast playing with all of you guys. Great storytelling and tons of fun. Really well run also!

Quick question for our illustrius GM - Did you ever link the first chronicle sheet for us? I was looking through my folder and I can't seem to find it. I tried looking back through the discussion thread and couldn't find a link either..

I'm probably just missing it. Thanks!

Coatl feels dizzy with the massive loss of blood. The wicked shark stays right on his fin as he desperately tries to swim away, but the druid just can't shake the beast.

Jungle village... never gonna... believe this...

In one last desperate move, the druid arcs his trajectory towards the surface. His momentum carries him out of the water, breaching the surface in a grisly, red tainted splash.

He summons the last vestiges of his druidic strength to will his body into magpie form, desperately flapping fins that he hopes will turn into wings.

Ok, so Move action to breach, standard action to wild shape into a magpie. Assuming the AoO doesn't kill me. Ha!

Male Human Druid 5 | HP: 48/48 | AC: 19 (12 Tch, 18 FF) | CMB: +7, CMD: 19/18FF | F: +8, R: +3, W: +7 (all +4 vs Fey&Plant | Init: +1 | Perc: +10, SM: +2 | Speed 30ft | Spells: 3rd: 1/1 2nd: 3/3 1st: 4/4 | Active Conditions: None

I did think about that, but it goes back to my previous post. I can't move without drawing an AoO. He can't miss. Minimum damage is enough to put me unconscious. Even if I manage to survive, the bleed damage will kill me before I get to the boat.

The more I think about it, the more I keep coming to the same conclusion. that 5% miss chance is my only realistic chance at anything, so that might as well be what I do.

Male Human Druid 5 | HP: 48/48 | AC: 19 (12 Tch, 18 FF) | CMB: +7, CMD: 19/18FF | F: +8, R: +3, W: +7 (all +4 vs Fey&Plant | Init: +1 | Perc: +10, SM: +2 | Speed 30ft | Spells: 3rd: 1/1 2nd: 3/3 1st: 4/4 | Active Conditions: None

So I'm reading and re-reading...

This thing basically can't miss me. I've only got 8hp left, with 1d6 bleed damage and the sharks minimum damage of 12. I can't do anything without provoking an AoO, so it appears to me that it's already over. Even if my above questions have possibility, I still can't do anything without provoking. Only extreme luck would allow me to just be unconcious instead of dead dead, and the bleed damage.

Bull shark natural bite attack has a damage roll of 2d8+STR*1.5 (single natural attack). So that means, if I attacked and Critted, AND rolled max damage, my damage potential is 44 (4d8+12). Average rolls with the crit would put me at a more realistic crit damage of 30.

I'm out of valid ideas. I definitely don't have the right spell selection to do anything about this. Summon spells won't help, since I'll be dead by the time they go off. Attacking won't help, since I'll be dead before I can kill it. Running doesn't work, because that basically invites a free attack that basically can't miss, and the bleed damage will likely kill me before I even make it back to the ship even if the attack did miss.

Checkmate.

Ok, so since we are a bit desperate at this point anyways, lemme throw out a question for you.

I have a couple of feather tokens. None of them are really intended for this situation, which is clear from the description of the item, so this is definitely going to need some GM intervention here.

Feather token: anchor - This one feels like a stretch, but what if I applied it to the great white?

Feather token: Swan boat - this one is the one that has the most potential in my mind, though it is definitely still a stretch. What if I swam back to Ortun and activated that feather token? Would the boat just sink since it is already in water? Or would it rush to the surface, hopefully carrying us with it? Even that would still be a longshot, assuming I survived the swim back, transformation out of wild shape, and the token activation.

Just trying to think outside the box, since staying in the box is likely going to result in death... ha!

So we have about 1000 feet to cover to get back to the boat, right? Pardon the stream crossing here, but if I've 'drawn aggro' I should be able to match his swim speed and lead him back to the boat for help. If he manages to get another attack in, Coatl also can cast wave shield as an immediate action (thanks to my natural spell feat, I can cast in wild shape)

Oh poop.

Coatl quickly realizes he is outmatched. He looks to Ortun, hopeful that if he turns tail to run, the shark doesn't change his focus.

If we get him back to ship, maybe rest of crew can help from boat.

In bull shark form, Coatl spins and flicks his tail powerfully, gliding through the water like he was made for it. Salty sea water flows in and out of his gills, feeding his blood with necessary oxygen for the hard pace.

Full 'run' action for a total of 240' traveled. Assuming the shark is in melee with me, it will draw an AoO as I swim away. At this pace I should be able to get back to the boat in the 5th round, hoping he will follow my blood trail and leave Ortun alone.

"Wow! Jungle village never gonna believe that one. Thought for sure Coatl was going to be dragon snack." With wobbly knees, Coatl heads over to the railing and looks into the water where the dragon disappeared.

"So now we gonna go down in the water where he is? Just thinking about dragons hiding behind kelp forest kinda freaking me out." Coatl shudders.

"This gonna be fun I think though. Always wanted to be a shark." Coatl follows up this latest comment with a wide, toothy grin.

Plan is to wild shape into a bull shark (medium shark with 60' swim, blindsense, low light vision and scent) for our trip down to the shipwreck. Let me know if anyone needs help with spells for swimming and breathing underwater.

It takes a moment for Coatl to catch on, but the druid is wiley, and never one to pass on a chance to play along in grand gestures. The druid scrambles to follow along with the story, and plays up each of his parts. When the grease hits the deck, Coatl's slip and fall is exaggerated, feet and arms splayed wide before his horizontal form crashes to the ground.

When the expolosion happens, Coatl wails his best death wail, screaming and running for the other side of the ship before crumpling in a heap.

Coatl looks closely at one of the pamphlets. He furrows his brow before leaning back, one hand on one hip and affecting the most pompous look of disdain he can muster.

A passing deckhand pulls the pamphlet out of the druid's hand, flips it right side up and replaces it between Coatl's fingers.

"Hmm. Maybe Coatl not say much to dragon. Lightning Jack and Singing elf got this down in the cold." He smiles and saunters off, working on acting aloof as he searches the skys for the dragon.

"Lightning Jack make great captain. Way better than Patzmiqui." Coatl smiles. "We all good to help. Hope we don't have to fight dragon, might not be as easy as drakes."

Patzmiqui coils around Coatl's legs, making a few people nearby uncomfortable. The druid leans on the massive snake's body, content with where he is.

"I notice you say barter Actual Captain." Coatl turns to the shrewd woman. "What you think a dragon gonna want from us?"

Ironwood armor is the only thing I can think of... but that's a whole new set of armor. It's typically for druids who can't wear metal.

Mechanically, might just be easier to take armor off when a storm is coming. There are obvious potential issues if we get in a fight in a storm, but I would guess the idea of wearing armor on a ship is probably just as much of a concern.

Just my thoughts. Perhaps I should have made those known IC... :)

This game is so great!

Eager to still help, Coatl chases several of the deck hands around, grabbing a rope to help coil, clambering up to help Anatoly re-rig the line.

"Hey, you think Sparky shows up in most storms? Maybe it a good thing if we don't see him again..."

Weary and drenched, Coatl finds a way to lift his wind battered body out of the water, flapping with great effort to get back to the ship. As the avian form flops around on the deck, it slowly morphs back into a thoroughly soaked skinny human again. Coatl coughs up a proverbial bucketful of seawater before pushing himself back to his feet.

"Ok, Sparky, that was pretty cool trick. I know you Jack's friend now, but Coatl like to learn how you do that. Hey Jack, you ok buddy?"

Coatl moves to help heal his orc-blooded friend before turning to face the purple storm-spawn.

"You ok if I call you Sparky?" he asks, full of intrigue and wonder at the strange being.

"SCRAAAAAAWWWW!!!!" Coatl flaps his wings as if there were no storm raging around him and is completely unprepared for the wind buffet that hits him, ripping him from the deck and sending him flying into the maelstrom, a trail of feathers quickly disappearing in the wind behind his tumbling form.

Coatl smiles. He loves shapeshifting. A gift that only a druid can enjoy to it's fullest. Feeling the familiar pulling and twisting, in moments the druid has taken the shape of an osprey. He spreads his wings and flaps lazily in the buffeting winds, lifting off and heading into a slow circle around the curious elemental creation.

So, standard to shapeshift into something that might have a chance in the storm, then attempt to fly around it to get it to be more curious about me than the ship. Happy to make any checks you need me to.

Octopus or Squid might be too small to effectively help someone. Dolphin swims the fastest. The biggest thing is I just need to have the maneuverability to get to someone. With my natural spell feat, I can cast while in wild shape form, so I can cast monkeyfish or something to help keep them from drowning.

I'll check the capabilities of some ocean going animals though, you might be right! Stuff like this is why I've wanted to play a druid for so long. So much versatility. :)

I figured the similar spells I took I would most likely use on the crew members, prioritizing party members first should they go overboard. Being able to shapeshift, Coatl should be able to handle things if he gets dumped. I considered actually shifting to something like a dolphin and just starting the encounter in the water to help try to rescue any who lose it. I decided against doing that in case I was needed on board, the shape wood spell might help with temporary repairs if there was damage to the hull.

"YOU'D THINK IT BE AAARRRR BUT IT'S THE C!!!!" Coatl roars with laughter, growling out the punchline with his best throaty accent.

"Hey, where you guys going? Ok ok, now we done laughing, maybe we have some fun? Someone race me. We each carry one of those big barrels across deck and back. You beat me, I take your turn cleaning poop deck. I beat you, Patzmiqui eat you for snack. Fair? Ha! Kidding. Patzmiqui not eat you. I win you help flush rats for Patzmiqui to eat. I promise not to turn into gorilla." Coatl flashes a toothy smile.

Just going to throw a couple of rolls out here in case you want to use them. Feel free to just use the number and change what skill/ability as you see fit!

Coatl wipes a tear from his reddened face.

"Ok ok. Another one. You guys love this. What is a pirate's favorite letter of the alphabet?" Coatl snickers, hardly able to contain himself.

Coatl grabs some rum of his own and saunters around the deck, drink in hand. He approaches a group of sailors laughing and chatting.

"Hey, wanna hear funny joke I learned in Bloodcove? Good. What you call a pirate with two arms and two legs."

The men stop drinking and stare at the strange druid.

"A rookie!" Coatl grabs his stomach and slaps his knee, laughing hysterically at his own joke. Tears form in his eyes and his face turns red.

"Wait wait." he forces the words out through gasps of laughter. "What has eight arms and eight legs. EIGHT PIRATES! HAAAAAAAA"

Wonder what would really happen if a ship ran into this? Perhaps below the water line? Have to keep that in mind.

"Nice book. Rod looks interesting too. What does this button do?" he asks while reaching to push it...

Sorry guys! I hate missing days. I'll do better... :)

"Oh yea. Coatl can definitely do that. I am just little bit worried about how good wings can grab leg. Oh well, we figure that out later!"

Coatl closes his eyes, spreading his arms out wide and tilting his head back so his face looks up towards the sky. The druid leans forward, awkwardly far, enough that he should start to tip over and fall on his face. Before that happens though, his hindquarters stretch like rubber, point out like a tail before melding into a pair of fine black feathers. His arms stretch out, with black and white feathers sprouting along their length, black on the front and a flash of bright white on the trailing edge. His eyelids open, his eyes loll back into his head before filling with an inky blackness, his nose pouring off of his face before turning into a dark black bill.

In seconds, Coatl the jungle druid has morphed into a remarkably accurate form of a magpie.

He flaps his wings and launches from the ground, circling higher and higher as he approaches the dangling body of the cursed captain.

Ok, so I have this form for up to 10 hours, so there is no need to rush at first. I'll take a few spins around the body, maybe find a place to perch nearby and do some scouting, make sure nothing is going to jump out at me, and also to see exactly how I might get this leg. My thought is I could wrap my talons/claws around it, and maybe my bird weight would be enough to pull it loose. I want to avoid touching the actual body if at all possible, out of respect for Besmara's judgement.

"You are welcome. All of you, yes, welcome. Ha!" Coatl accepts the accolades with mild discomfort, knowing he didn't really do much in the whole scene.

"You pretty good singer then? Your song better than Siren's song? Probably good thing. Would have been bad if Captain got caught in Siren's song." Coatl squints his eyes and lifts a hand to block out the sun, though in truth the eye squinting was more to take a measure of the blonde womanizer in front of him.

Better become Mr. Captain after we get treasure. No officer's share for you cabin boy...

The hairs on Coatl's neck stand up, though he can't be sure why. Probably just being paranoid. Massive amounts of gold can do that to even the simplest of jungle boys.

Coatl shakes his head, confused. Sailing was not something he was green at, though he wasn't quite the salty sea dog that some of these men and women were.

A siren was a new experience for him though. In the magical silence, he wrestles in his mind with what to do. Why did he feel that way about the enchanting creature? And why did it suddenly stop? Either way, he felt threatened, and unsure what to do next.

The absence of any ranged weapons in combination with the magical silence meant the druid was a little hamstrung at the moment. Coatl reaches into his gear, grabbing a tanglefoot bag in one hand and a thunderstone in the other.

"..." he scowls at no one in particular.

Down in the hold, Coatl allows his eyes to adjust to the darkness. The ship is well sealed, so there is virtually no light anywhere, and eventually the druid has to give in, casting light from his wayfinder to see his way around.

"Patzmiqui. You find the rats. I pray."

Folding his legs and getting comfortable sitting on the floor, the druid closes his eyes and dismisses the light spell. He begins a low humming chant while Patzmiqui silently roams the hold, looking for unwanted stowaways.

Need an hour to swap out read magic for create water.

Eventually, the druid clambers around, finding a corner where he can create some space. He pulls out a bundled up swatch of linen holding some of the scraps and trash he had grabbed while he was in the galley. Carefully, he cuts and kneads, rolling the compostable materials into a pungent smelling paste, which he smears around a small patch of the floor. He chants the incantation for creating water and allows several gallons to soak into the wood and mush without washing it away.

Finally, he pulls some of the materials out of his spell component pouch and ration bag, sprinkling 3 different types of mushroom spores into the prepared bed. Satisfied, he heads back up to the galley.

"I bring you special mushrooms in a couple days. Need some time to germinate. In the meantime, Coatl has special spell just for you. This jungle rat gonna make you look like an all-star for crew." Coatl proclaims, barging back into Cobb's space. He rubs his hands together, and begins randomly casting purify food and drink around the cupboards and in the pots and piles of peeled potatoes and the like.

"When I'm done, you gonna be everyone's favorite cook." Coatl's grin is toothy and wide.

"Ohhh, Jungle Rat! That a new one. I like you. So I can stay if I help? Coatl will be best helper you ever had. You be amazed at fungus that can make soup extra tasty. I'll go find some."

The jungle rat scurries out of the galley as quick as he barged in to head down to the hold, where Patzmiqui can find a few snacks and he can look for the damp, dark areas where mold and mushrooms grow.

Totally up to you GM how successful Coatl is there. He is a bit annoying and not easy on the eyes, but his helpfulness isn't for lack of effort!

Feats, Traits, Racial:

Challenge: Once per day, a cavalier can challenge a foe to combat. As a swift action, the cavalier chooses one target within sight to challenge. The cavalier’s melee attacks deal extra damage whenever the attacks are made against the target of his challenge. This extra damage is equal to the cavalier’s level. The cavalier can use this ability once per day at 1st level, plus one additional time per day for every three levels beyond 1st, to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level. Challenging a foe requires much of the cavalier’s concentration. The cavalier takes a –2 penalty to his Armor Class, except against attacks made by the target of his challenge. The challenge remains in effect until the target is dead or unconscious or until the combat ends.

Feats
Mounted Combat: Once per round when your mount is hit in combat, you may attempt a Ride check (as an immediate action) to negate the hit. The hit is negated if your Ride check result is greater than the opponent’s attack roll.

Ride-by Attack: When you are mounted and use the charge action, you may move and attack as if with a standard charge and then move again (continuing the straight line of the charge). Your total movement for the round can’t exceed double your mounted speed. You and your mount do not provoke an attack of opportunity from the opponent that you attack.

Combat Expertise: You can choose to take a –1 penalty on melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +1 dodge bonus to your Armor Class. When your BAB reaches +4, and every +4 thereafter, the penalty increases by –1 and the dodge bonus increases by +1. Must declare attack or a full-attack with a melee weapon.

Gang Up: You are considered to be flanking an opponent if at least two of your allies are threatening that opponent, regardless of your actual positioning.

Social Grace (Knowledge Local): Receives a +4 circumstance bonus on checks with the selected skill.

Traits
Indomitable Faith:+1 Will Saves.
Adopted (Animal Friend): +1 Will Saves.

FAQ:

How does Malluma and her mount attack during a charge?
Malluma is using a Lance, which has a 10 foot reach. She Charges using Ride-by Attack which lets her move another 5 feet closer to the target after striking. This gets her mount within range, where it can attack.

4th Level: The mount gets Reach, so you no longer need to use Ride-by Attack to both attack. However, according to Sean K Reynolds, Paizo Contributor the mount cannot Move/Attack/Move in one round without the animal having the Spring Attack feat.

How are you drawing your weapon during a charge?
The charge rules let a character "draw a weapon during a charge attack if your base attack bonus is at least +1".

Are you and your mount charging?
Yes, the FAQ clarifies that "Both charge in unison, suffer the same penalty to AC, the gaining the same bonus to the attack rolls and following all other rules for the charge." Note: They are not making the same charge, allowing the rider to utilize Ride-by Attack while the mount does not. James Jacobs, Paizo Creative Director agrees with this interpretation.

What square is Malluma in?
According to the Core Rulebook, "you share your mount’s space during combat".

How does the mount develop?
The mount is an animal companion.

What happens when your mount falls unconscious while you're riding?
I must pass a DC 15 Ride check to fall softly to avoid 1d6 damage and falling prone.

Description:

(MAH-LOOM-AH SEH-MAY)
Malluma is humanoid, with a reptilian head and neck. Her green scaly skin and yellow eyes are often unnerving to those who have never met a Nagaji before.

History:
An emissary for the Nagas, Malluma is currently on a mission to represent the Nagas in the Pathfinder Society. Secretly, she wishes to use this opportunity to find her long-lost brother. She is accompanied by her giant snake, Kudrilo Morto.
