What a decidedly eerie and atrocious person! Whoever wrote that note was worse even than a div! I don't stand for evil things, well, at least not too often, but torture of any creature is abominable. I'm wondering if it isn't the div who is in the gem, but this person!? I think we should certainly bring the gem out, but do not touch it! Put it into a bag and carry it that way.
Let's take the lists, the note, the gem and these more interesting items and go back to our dwarven archeologist friend and see what he makes of this div story? Oh! I will try to figure out what that lovely circlet is as well. The list says it's a circlet of persuasion, but one can never be too careful!! Ha ha!!

I can't remember the div expert's name that we talked with (I think a dwarf), but it seems we should check in there first. Who's taking the Alchemist fires and circlet? I can take one fire if we want to split. Perhaps Barboo gets the circlet since Charisma is her thing?

What a huge place! Are the cultists long dead (years) or recent (days)? I'm assuming our resident bard will easily get that Knowledge check. Unless someone else can use it, Cizish can hold the wand of Resist Energy. I believe Barboo should be able to use the Eagle's Splendor scroll.

Cizish creeps along with the party, horrified at the carnage that they are discovering. This is not good. Not good! What sort of place have we come across?? I think we should leave as soon as our job is done. I desire greatly to see the open sky.

Upon reaching the muttering cultist, Cizish will cast Daylight and Detect Magic to better see what's going on. Does the man seem magically possessed or just delirious from wounds and starvation?

I assure you, everyone, I have no idea what that was. Did it come from the gem or was it a ghost coming out of one of the dead men?!? Let me have a look at that circle again.

Cizish walks over to where Olli is and casts both Detect Magic and Read Magic.

Cizish will look around the room and search the cultists. He also wonders if there was something odd that he sensed in the cultist who was acting weird.

Bruce mutters something in Auran as the door doesn't budge.

I was planning on having Bruce go through the center door, but if it's locked, he can try to bash it down if anyone wants.

Getting to the door and hearing the chanting behind it, Bruce turns his head and looks to Cizish (in as much as an elemental can turn its head!) and says something to him with a breathy sound. Cizish looks a little surprised and then addresses the party.
Oh! Bruce has found the door locked and there is some sort of chant going on behind it. I can't imagine that it is a favorable ceremony for us. Shall we disrupt their ritual?

If party agrees, Bruce will attempt to bash in the door

As the poor alchemist continues to bustle and (probably) ruin his lab, Cizish backs up with the others and then skips off down the alleyway at full speed, calling over his shoulder. Thanks for the information, Mr Alchemist! These divs sound terribly terrible, but now we get to go shopping!!

Once at the market, Cizish leads Barboo to a magic shop. Now, Ms Barboo, I intend to purchase some scrolls to help us as we go and root out this terrible div. May I suggest you go to see if they have a scroll of Suppress Charms and Compulsions? It sounds like a terribly interesting spell, but, alas, I am unable to wield such power. Bruce just won't let me. I have some other interesting spells to seek out though. I think you should look over there on those shelves. Oh! And don't let the shopkeeper charge you more than 150 gold! I'm going to look over here, but no peeking. I want to keep it as a surprise! Ha ha!!

With that, Cizish will shuffle through some scrolls and purchase a few.

Scrolls purchased:
Scrolls of: Faerie Fire x2, Liberating Command x2, Delay Poison x2, and Burdened Thoughts

How wonderful! Now we know where to go and what we must do! What a wonderful helper, that half-orc. What was his name again? Deus ex machina? Something like that...
Anyway, now we must go to these Dungeons of the Ever-Dying. That sounds creepy and dangerous, but full of excitement! The reference to the General's troops being assigned permanent duty sounds like undead duty to me. We'd better be ready for such things. I know!! I'll bring Bruce along!!

Have we learned anything about how to prevent or treat the insanity that has come upon the people that we've met? Can we talk to someone in town before going down into the Dungeons? I feel like we should be more prepared to resist whatever power the Doru Div has.

Based on his own Sense Motive check and the reactions of Olli and Barboo, Cizish decides that Zurnzal is at least trustworthy enough.
I'm with you Mr Z! Your master, the Grandmaster Torch sounds like a delightful person and I hope to meet him someday. I, myself, am training to be a Skymaster and hope to achieve that very, very soon. Perhaps your master and I can be partners!! Grandmaster Torch and Skymaster Cizish Windwalker bringing balance to all peoples! I can see it now!. His eyes glaze over, not in self-adoration, but just in the simple concept of something so novel and perhaps, he recognizes, even a little ridiculous.

Now, about your blood oath... Cizish reaches to his belt where only a leather strap for a sling , a small club, and a beltpouch rest. Oh! I forgot, I despise weapons. I usually let Bruce do all the work for me. He is absolutely so helpful. If you haven't met him, you really should, he's quite something. But now is not the time for Bruce, now is the time for oaths! Ah ha! I know how to seal our alliance with something even stronger than blood.

Then, with a few casual movements of his hands and a murmuring of magic, he creates a gallon of water above everyone's head. His face beaming with pride as the water falls and douses all 5 (including himself). Now we are sworn with an oath, stronger than blood. Water is the essence of all life and links our frail bodies to nature. Even to the realm of air!

Although a absurd ceremony, and not rooted in any actual tradition, Cizish is fully convinced and solemn in his oath.

Cizish has not played 7-07, but this guy gives me the creeps. What would our PCs know about Grandmaster Torch?

Hearing Zurnzal start to drone on about employers and guarantees and other boring topics, Cizish zones out for a moment as he ponders what it would be like to be a half-orc. Upon mention of the Dungeons of the Ever-Dying, he focuses back on Zurnzal and tries to get a read on him as well.

Do the bite marks appear to be self inflicted or from something else? I guess neck bites could only be something else. Do they look like they are from a Vargouille? I think someone made the Knowledge check before, so hoping they could ID it.
I'm puzzled too. This is the same guy that we met outside the original archeology site, correct? It seems like something escaped (Vargouille?) and then people have become addled or otherwise acting weird. Not sure how the Doru Div comes into it other than people saying that it might cause these symptoms in people. Somehow all this seems related to Pharasma and the memory stealing experiments.

Cizish will cast Detect Magic around the room. He then will approach Obahar while speaking in a low, but consistent stream of words to soothe the feral man. If he gets close enough, he will try to identify the source of the bite marks or determine what condition is affecting the man. If he is able, he'll also try to get the scroll from Obahar as well.

Cizish has been clasping both hands over his mouth the entire time the party was in the solemn necropolis. As soon as the group gets to the darkened room, hopefully a little out of earshot from the rest of the graveyard, he bursts out in a solid string of words, like a gale being released from a bellows. Even though he asks many questions, he doesn't pause long enough for anyone to answer and seems, himself, to forget that he asked a question.

How wonderfully creepy and somber! Ms Renofre How do you manage to keep quiet all day? Are you always quiet, what do you do if someone talks to loudly? What if they shout? Do you send them straight to the Mother of Souls to be welcomed in her embrace rather than disrupt her holy necropolis? Wouldn't that be a reward if you did that? For a Pharasmin I mean. I don't think it would be a reward for me, I'm not ready to be done with this life, not yet at least.
Is this the person who you are punishing for digging graves? He's just a boy, maybe he didn't know any better. Or maybe he got possessed too! Are you possessed Manetho?

At this point, Cizish crouches down in front of the boy, putting his face close to his and looking deeply into his eyes.
Hello? Doru Div? Are you in there? Or is this Manetho? Hello!! Tell us what happened to you?. With that, Cizish finally stops talking and sits back, mimicking the young acolyte's pose.

Ugh! What a disgusting book, Ms Barboo. I find necromancy to be quite distasteful, don't you agree? Mr Alchemy-man, maybe we should take this book from you and bring it to the authorities. I don't think it is something you should be keeping. By the way, is your name Mr Alchemy-man? What is your name!?! We never asked. I am Cizish Windwalker and these are my traveling companions. Ms Barboo is quite delightful, Mr Ollie is deadly with his bow and Mr Ulric is, well...just deadly! Now that introductions are done, why don't you tell us how you came to find this book and why people are accusing you of poisoning people. Oh! And when did you see a demon face?!?

Cizish continues to prattle on and doesn't even take a breath, let alone pause long enough for the alchemist to answer. Hopefully he'll answer to one of the others who are actually listening!

I can't think of anything else to do in there.

Blinking at the bright sun Cizish lets his eyes adjust briefly, but Obahar's excitement easily gets the Sylph spun up again.
What didn't we find!! Ms Barboo and I picked up some horns that were imbued with magical memories. We both understood ancient Osiriani!! We also found some old burnt out stones that were being used in some memory magic and some poor skeletons chained to the wall. There was a chest with some swirly runes all over it. Very exciting! Also, we were almost killed by monsters.

If Obahar can keep up, Cizish eventually describes some form of magical experimentation with memory storage and relates the content of the memories.

Cizish looks wide-eyed back and forth from the horns to Barboo as they both repeatedly pick up and then lay down the horns. I'm imagining that their curiosity is so great that they want to experience each vision repeatedly! After a few times of experiencing the visions, Cizish beams a smile at Barboo and twists his head to look at Ulric and Olli, who are likely standing with a look of confusion mixed with disapproval.
Can you believe it!?! We are reliving some horrible woman's life as she murders people and Divs to conduct some tortuous experiment. How terrible and disgusting and wonderfully amazing!! Can you believe we get to see these things?? I mean of course it's appalling what happened and we must do what we can to stop this person, if she is still around, but I guess all those people are already dead, so there isn't much that we can do for them now, is there? So why not be fascinated!!?! Do you think she learned how to live forever? How old do you think she is? She is speaking Ancient Osiriani, so she must be OLD! Wait! I speak Ancient Osiriani! Or at least I understood it! Did you understand it Barboo? Are we linguists now.....

Cizish rattles on long after anyone (even Barboo) is listening. He is curious if this woman was trying to create a way for her to live forever or even a way to live via undeath (eg lich/phylactery). He can't figure how a Div would tie in to this woman's story, but is curious why she can use its horns to preserve memories.

And yes, Cizish practically lives in a disembodied state!

Cizish practically buzzes with excitement at the sight of the chest. He rushes up to it, just coming up short and sliding on his knees to stop in front of the chest. He holds his hands up, not daring to touch it, but barely able to stop himself from doing just that.
By the great gusts of Zephyr! Look at this magnificent chest! What could be in it? Platinum, gold, arcane treasures? Maybe it's ancient artifacts that will reveal the very nature of mankind! Or maybe it's just someone's dirty clothes hamper? WAIT! Maybe this is the div's home!!?! Don't they live in bottles or something? This is kind of like a bottle, but it's more of a chest than a bottle. Maybe Doro Divs are more powerful and get bigger residences? Like a bigger house for the nobles? How can we know?!? The possibilities are endless! Should we open it?? Once we do, the mystery will be ended and we'll just have a mundane chest with some mundane (but hopefully interesting) treasure. If we leave it closed, it contains anything we want and more! How thrilling, I can hardly breath, but I must breath or I'll pass out and then I can't see what's inside the chest..

Cizish then begins to hyperventilate before forcing himself to take deep measured breaths. He scans the chest carefully, letting his eyes pass over every inch of the chest, lingering longer on the glyphs and bindings. He will also cast detect magic to try and spellcraft anything and then cast read magic to discern the glyphs if needed.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Survival: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Looking for traps primarily, but also for the purpose of the chest and if it's been opened recently, tracks around it, etc.

Cizish practically quakes with excitement while looking at the frescos in the room. He spins and twirls as he moves from one wall to another. The only time he stops is to stare open-mouthed as Barboo recounts the stories of Ahriman and the ancient days of the Pharaoh of Forgotten Plagues.
Oh me, oh my! Ms Barboo, you are a warehouse of information! How fascinating, I wish I could retain knowledge and have the experiences that you've had to know all these marvelous facts! Alas, for me, it's in one ear and out the other. But this way I get to learn something new that much more often! I wonder what the Lord of All Divs is like, he certainly looks menacing! Are these items as old as when the Pharaoh of Forgotten Plagues ruled Osirion? I can scarcely believe we can experience this!
Cizish finishes speaking while hopping up and down on his toes. He then casts detect magic to look for anything of further interest.

Should we gather these items up to share with the dig master? I believe if we do, it should be with great care. Terribly great care! I think one whiff of air and these might turn to dust! I am curious, but also frightened to learn what sort of creature was eating these items and smashing them to bits!

Checks to try and ID the cause/sourse of the bite marks:

Cizish completes his casting and calls out Yoo hoo! Lightning Bruce! Come out, come out wherever you are!!

With a flash of lightning and the acrid smell of ozone, a small lightning elemental appears behind the column and slams down immediately.

Lightning Bruce slam: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9plus Electricity: 1d3 ⇒ 1
I believe all the electricity damage goes through?
Hurray! <sarcasm> All one electricity damage goes through...

After casting, Cizish rushes up behind Ulric and murmurs, It's going to be OK, Mr Ulric. Don't you worry a bit about your health, I'm here and Bruce and I are going to help you out. He says while awkwardly stroking the back of Ulric's head. He then casts Cure Light Wounds in Ulric.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 - To Ulric

@Barboo - recommend asking for resistances/immunities (and DR if not included in that) and weaknesses/vulnerabilities for your knowledge check

After letting out a high pitched yelp, Cizish cries out: Moving statues! Does anyone know anything about them?!?

Speaking out of turn, I know, but Cizish will delay until someone makes a Knowledge check.

Well, my my! Look at these crazy dog-headed people. I wonder what they might be? My dear, Barboo, could you enlighten us on these statues and what they might mean?

@Barboo - Roll a Knowledge (arcana or history) check. If you get 12 or more on either, we can all look at the spoiler that David posted. Thanks! :)

Well now, wasn't that exciting! Mr Ulric, you are rather lethal with that sword of yours! I think I will endeavor to stay behind you during confrontations! Now, there seems to be some rubble around here and some stairs going up. There was also a very interesting box, or maybe a chest, back the other way. Which way shall we go?

Checking for tracks (besides the skeleton) and also looking/listening up the stairs for anything of interest. Cizish also will look around the room (including inspecting for any concealed or secret doors.

After hearing what Barboo shares about the Doru Divs: My, oh my. Those sound incredibly interesting and dangerous! I would not want to be bitten by them since Wisdom is what I rely on to call for Bruce! Also, they are immune to fire and can handle electricity? I guess I won't have Fire Bruce or Lightning Bruce join us this time. Maybe Water Bruce, Dog Bruce? No, I have it.... He trails off before finishing, I have no need for any of those items. Let's go find a Doru Div and see if we live!.
Ooo! I made a rhyme!

@Ben: Nice crit! I'm thinking of making a rule for non-PFS games that a nat-20 on a confirm roll means that you get to keep rolling to confirm and then draw as many critical cards as you confirm and then add up all the effects and damage. Savage!

@Chaosorbit: Oops! I meant resistances and vulnerabilities. Thanks.

Cizish squeaks as he sees the skeleton loom up, but rushes into the room anyway. Eeep! A creepy skeleton! Mr Ulric, please go and make it stop before it comes after us. It is terribly scary, but terribly fascinating that bones can stay together and move on their own!!

If skeleton is holding a weapon:
Cizish will cast Burning Disarm. The skeleton can attempt a Reflex save to drop the weapon and take no damage (DC 15). If it fails the save, it takes Fire damage: 4d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 4) = 8 points of damage.

If skeleton is NOT holding a weapon:
Cizish will cast Storm Burst. This is a ranged touch attack that causes nonlethal damage (undead immune), but gives the skeleton a -2 on attack rolls for one round as its head is buffeted by winds and rain.
Storm Burst vs touch (and FF): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Are we now slaves? I didn't realize that we had become servants of a disembodied voice, are you all OK with this, I find it disturbing and would rather keep my freedom. Do we need to fight now?. Cizish blurts out in a single breath.

Anything from either of the other hallways? I have darkvision as well.
Does Barboo's knowledge checks give us any more information about a doru? Casting Read Magic as well to see if there is more to the arcane runes.

Cizish can’t help but comment as he notices Kehl’s bracelet. The Lady of Graves!? How appropriate for a digger of tombs! We shall be as swift as the clouds before a storm front. Mr Ollie and Mr Ulric here seem quite capable of dispatching any nasties that we may encounter. And Ms Barboo keeps us all in a merry state with her singing, even in the darkest of times. I am merely here for the adventure, but I have a friend, Bruce, who always seems to show up just in the nick of time to help me out.

Cizish is ready to move in with the party. He casts light on anyone without darkvision if needed. (eg Ulric’s shield or weapon). He readies his shield and pulls his wand of Daylight out.

Time to go into the creepy excavated ruins! Cizish calls out over his shoulder as he skips towards the opening. Last one in is a rotten vargywheel head!
I wonder what it feels like to have your guts sucked out? I don’t think I want to find out, but on the other hand...

Greetings Mr Obahar. I am Cizish Windwalker and indeed we are from the Pathfinder Society. We are here to explore, report, and cooperate...and solve any pesky problems that you might have. Perhaps there is some treasure in there or clues to what this mysterious demon or this creepy floating head are. It sounds like you are ready for us to head down in there, so we shall!! Any other tidbits of information for us before we go? Nice outfit by the way, it's wonderfully random. I think I will try to get something like that for myself. Or maybe for Bruce. I hope he shows up soon, I do miss having him around.

Cizish runs around the area with excitement. Ooo, this is fascinating! Look at these interesting tools. Why are they gathering dust, aren’t you supposed to be using them to dig or excavate or whatever excavators do. He rushes to the table with the maps and such. Speaking to the bearded man: What are these things, sir? Charts and interesting curios? May I touch them, can I read these?
Unless stopped, Cizish will enthusiastically grab up anything that he can to see in order to inspect them.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Perception to look at the items on the table. Sense Motive to determine if the workers or bearded man seem to be hiding something. The dusty tools make me suspicious.

Sadly I do not Mr Olli, although it sounds like a fascinating language. Perhaps our friend, Barboo can learn it via her magical abilities. Bards are such amazing little creatures. I think going to the alchemist sounds delightfully dangerous. Of course, a div would be challenging. I wonder how he, or is it a she, or maybe an it, will try to kill us? I'm sure it will be creatively awful.

Cizish will purchase a scroll of Endure Elements, Communal, a scroll of Expeditious Expedition, and a scroll with 3 castings of Lesser Restoration

Cizish is enthralled by Barboo’s singing. When delivered in such a beautiful manner, news of release of a evil spirit almost sounds like good news! I actually can’t wait to meet this being, perhaps we can speak with it and learn of how long it’s been trapped. Eons, decades, even centuries!?!?
While speaking, Cizish is pacing about the area, even climbing up the stairs to the top of one of the sandstone walls before leaping off and drifting slowly to the ground. This should be most enlightening and entertaining! I will have to ask Bruce to join us soon!
