If allowed, I would also like to submit, Chiron Starwatcher. I may have to rebuild him a bit to fit the parameters, but I found him among my aliases and remembered how much I had looked forward to playing him.

If he is too much, I hope you will still consider Höd.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Ok. I am officially going to stop checking this thread. If we start up again, email R Monahan 2 at G Mail dot com.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron will use his ride-by-attack today to run out, fire an arrow, then run back to cover.

Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Damage 1d8 ⇒ 3

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chrion beats the ground restlessly.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron will hang back at the tree line also: bow in hand.

Hopefully H'vok and William can draw a few of the bandits out of the camp and into the open.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron unslings his bow and nocks an arrow.

Initiative? 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

"There seem to be 3 guards in the towers, one in one of them and two in the other, from how Ath'eli saw it. Any ideas about strategy now?"

"They'll likely be cocky in their numbers and overconfident in their knowledge of the area. Perhaps we use a hit and run on them. Guerrilla tactics have helped weaker people overcome might armies. Let us use our small size as an advantage."

"That would be most useful. We would be adverse to riding in on my back? I can get you in safely."

Male Centuar Ranger 1

"Very good Emalea."

Chiron watches the bird fly away until he can hardly see it.

"I believe this is the camp we're looking for and I plan to subdue everyone here. I will only use as much force as necessary. If they surrender, we should not kill them. At least not immediately. We need a clear picture of what happens here."

Sorry guys this has been a crazy week. My wife tried to commit suicide this week. So I am trying to catch up. There is no random encounter tonight. I will post a map of the bandit camp for the encounter in a little bit.

Oh my god!? Dude, take some time. Don't worry about us. We'll be here when you are. Is she ok? Are you? Let me know if I can do anything. I'm in Seattle, but I'll remote over whatever I can.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Assuming no random encounter, can we skip to us making camp around dusk 2 miles or so away from the bandits?

Male Centuar Ranger 1

"The bandits were extorting Oleg. They claimed the fee was for protection. Their camp is a little less than a day from here. We can get there by dusk."

Male Centuar Ranger 1

"I am fond of the darkness master Flynn. My name is Starwatcher for that is what I do. When else but night, then eh?"

Seeing that William has breakfast well in hand, Chiron spends a moment before eating to find their course toward the bandit camp.

Survival 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron feigns a yawn, stretches, and wipes the sleep from his eyes.

"Good day to you as well, friend Naen." He smiles and gives a little bow. Noticing William awake too, he adds. "A woodsman indeed, you stir even before I do." This last bit is said in a teasing but friendly tone.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron, awake in meditation, waits for a while to open his eyes.

I need not interrupt the humans interaction. This is good for them.

When he is sure that William and Naen are through speaking he stirs more noisily than normal to let them know he's up.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Very nice post Naen.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

So, lights up next morning? haha.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

I must be confused, I went with Emalea to her camp while the others packed up Carmichael and we were to meet back at our original camp. Do I have that backwards?

Arriving at her camp, Emalea gets of her horse, pats it neck as a sign to the mare to stay where she was.

"Would you like the shovel right away, and return to your comrades, or will you stay and give me a hand packing up the tent?" she asks the large centaur.

"I will help in any way you need."

"Yes, Chiron. Be careful."

Chiron nods to Naen and a thin smile dances across his countenance.

To Emalea: "I do not wish to speak ill of the dead. Suffice to say he neglected his post and fled when danger presented itself."

Male Centuar Ranger 1

"I will accompany you to your camp. While I'm gone, the rest of you should prepare the body for burial first thing tomorrow. Are we agreed?"

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron raises an eyebrow at H'vok.

"Youth and temperance are not mutually exclusive. You would do well to keep such idle talk burried in your mind. Especially considering your unique position. It will not take much for you to lose your hard earned place in human society. One wrong move and you'll be just another hobgoblin for the pitchfork. Remember that."

Male Centuar Ranger 1

For Emalea, in Sylvan:

"I thank you for your good greeting and I hope you do not take my reproach too hard. For my part, I am still gauging the hobgoblin's character. He shows potential to be both a stable comrade and a bit of a loose cannon. But tell me, how did you come to learn the language of the wild places."

The elf regards H'vok while she dismounts gracefully from her horse before accepting the charter from him. Her tone is quite matter-of-fact when she finally answers him "Yes, I can indeed cook. However I'm not sure my palette is refined enough for your tastes, as I usually don't cook sapients"

"I will thank you not to insult my companions lady. H'vok has thus far shown himself to be an upstanding and honorable man with almost no tendencies toward his ancestry's evil desires. You show a lack of wisdom to speak in judgement before seeing all sides of the case."

Shrewd, but hasty

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron snorts when the newcomer asks for his charter, but he produces it nonetheless.

"Satisfactory?"

I might be able to rest easier with this one around. She is shrewd.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

"He was our companion. An unworthy coward whom nature selected for extinction."

While his words are harsh, Chiron's face shows a hint of sorrow for poor Carmichael. Now that you think about it, the words even sound somewhat practiced: learned. He looks back to Emalea.

"You may not have it with you now, but I will not expect you to sleep alone in the wilds. You may stay with us tonight if you wish, but I will want to see your charter before I place my trust in you."

Male Centuar Ranger 1

"Please miss, do not think me rude, but discression is the better part of valor. If you claim the charter of the swordlords, present it so our doubts might be assuaged."

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron trains an arrow at the stranger. However, as her story begins to make sense, he lowers his bow.

Naen is doing well, she is beginning to find her confidence.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Survival Take 10 + 6 = 16

Chiron walks into the night with his eyes on the ground, looking carefully for signs of Carmichael's passing.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron finishes his examinations of the camp site.

"It seems Carmichael slithered away as the wolves attacked. He can't be too far. We could catch him up if you all are so inclined."

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Sorry for the random. Darksmokepuncher is me. I forgot to change avatars.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Ok, I have updated my stats. I changed Cha from 8 to 10 and Wis from 14 to 15.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Erfine, That's a survival roll to know where Carmichael went and how long ago. Thank you sir.

William Flynn wrote:
My answer, Chiron, depends on how old you think these tracks are. I can't help but notice that a wolf seems to have followed him out of camp. If these are a couple hours old, I doubt we can do anything for him, and we should rest. If these are only minutes old, we should follow. It's dark, and he's subject to the same limitations I am. What's more, he left his horse behind. I would prefer we save him from a sad fate, if at all possible.

I don't know how long. I'm waiting on Erfine for some info. Chiron will not likely want to help Carmichael, just fyi. He will go if that is whats chosen but traitors deserve their fate in his eyes. but more after Erfine posts.

Thanks for the welcome.

Oh, I didn't know you didn't start with 28, I figured you did. I'll wait for the DM's call before I start trimming some stats though, because I wouldn't really know where to start (could drop Con to 10 that would be 3 points - actually 14 to 12 but has a -2 for elf, but well I like hitpoints)

Sure, if you want to track at night, go for it, hehe. But do you really want to save the guy that left his post so you can get slaughtered? But then you were also giving food to the bandit, so maybe yes :)

Btw, Chiron I was wondering, "Fey" in your language section refers to Sylvan, I guess? Is it the native tongue of centaurs, or do you speak common among yourselves?

** spoiler omitted **

Thanks Emalea, you are right, it should say Sylvan ;)

Male Centuar Ranger 1

ninja'd by William! I too was wondering about the point buy.

Also, WELCOME EMALEA! I really liked your character concept. I'm glad you'll be joining us.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron stalks around the camp looking for Carmichael's prints.

Take 10 on tracking check = 16

"The coward seems to have fled sometime during his watch. I could track him in the darkness but I have no hope of catching him with you humans in toe. I mean no disrespect, but you are neither very fast nor are you able to see into the night. By the time the sun is up, Carmichael's trail will have gone cold. I am inclined to rest this night and carry on without him tomorrow."

Male Centuar Ranger 1

"I know that we should search for Carmichael, but part of me wishes to let nature have her way with the coward."

Chiron beats the ground irritably with his hooves.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron stands in near awe as the young man steps among the wolves and manages to call them down.

"They never trust me like that. Then again, I'm usually collecting their pelts. You are a most fascinating human William Flynn."

Please oh please domesticate the wolves. Maybe they can become your animal companion?

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Nice! Also, for the record, I like the witch on the recruitment thread Erfine. Would make for fun times methinks.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Handle Animal 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Knowledge Nature 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Meh

Male Centuar Ranger 1

I did roll for my round two a page back...
In other news, I GOT INTERNET BACK TODAY!
I agree that 24 hours is the time when the GM should DMNPC a character.
I will post again after round two is resolved.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

I am certainly not annoyed by questions. I think Carmichael may have left us. If he hasn't perhaps he should be available to post more often.

What do you think Erfine? Can we speed things up with or without Carmichael? It seems that William, Naen, H'vok, and myself are all consistently present. Is there anything we can do to make this easier on you?

Male Centuar Ranger 1

I'm sure none of us wants to be "that person" but I think I may not be the only one who is frusterated with the pacing of this game. Is anyone else feeling this way? If its just me, I'll just shut up :)

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Please add 2 to both rolls there. I forgot my favored enemy bonus.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Because my computer acces is limited right now, On his next turn...

Chiron lets loose a loud shout of triumph! He charges the nearest living wolf, drawing his greatsword as he goes.

Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Chiron wakes to see a gaping wolf's maw about to snap shut on his fore leg. He pulls back and rears but not in time to avoid the bite.

Chiron takes 3 damage

He is able to quickly retaliate however, and brings two powerful hooves down on the beast's head.

Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Male Centuar Ranger 1

This is another heads up, I am no officially without internet except at work for the next 4ish days. I will continue to post as often as I can, but if you dont hear from me for a few days its cause I can't post. Erfine, feel free to NPC Chiron as needed if you need to keep things going.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chron listens to his companions share stories over their meal. Noding quietly to himself.

"The food is excellent chef Korvus."

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Can't post much at the moment, sorry.
