I am slowly getting caught up on all my games. I apologise for my absence or if I missed anything.

Female Shoanti Lunar Oracle (Spirit Guide) 1 | HP: 19/19 | AC 20 (T14, FF 18) | CMB: +5 CMD: 13 | F:+3 R:+3 W:+5 | Init -2 | Low-light vision, Perception +8, Sense Motive +10, Diplomacy +7 | Speed 20 ft. | Spells lvl1: 2/5 | Wolf HP: 18/19 AC: 19 | Active Effects: Shield of Faith

The big Shoanti woman manages to look somehow both proud and uncomfortable at the same time. The wolf is surprisingly unperturbed by the activity, staying comfortably at her side through it all. When the others are shown rooms, Chases Moonlight leaves nothing behind, not even a wolf.

She does accept food for herself and for Bites Ears, though she seems uncertain at the social protocol about the situation. She accepts these things quietly and with hesitance.

The wolf, despite his size, is a surprisingly tidy eater and is quickly asleep beneath the table.

Chases Moonlight is quietly observant, not speaking at all unless she is directly addressed. When anyone comments on her bravery or the battle, she gives them a quizzical look. "It is the correct."

So I wanted to apologize for my lack of activity. I've been working lots of 12 hour days and I haven't had a day off in two weeks. I think I'll be able to get things settled down soon, but for now, please bot me as needed.

I will try to post as I can.

As for the plan, Chases Moonlight is down to charge for sure.

Joden has the highest AC in the party against the giant and I could put shield of faith on him if he wanted.

I'm all for option 1 assuming the GM isn't out to kill us all just yet.

I mean, Chases Moonlight always wanted to go in face first here, but she's not crazy enough to go alone.

Female Shoanti Lunar Oracle (Spirit Guide) 1 | HP: 19/19 | AC 20 (T14, FF 18) | CMB: +5 CMD: 13 | F:+3 R:+3 W:+5 | Init -2 | Low-light vision, Perception +8, Sense Motive +10, Diplomacy +7 | Speed 20 ft. | Spells lvl1: 2/5 | Wolf HP: 18/19 AC: 19 | Active Effects: Shield of Faith

Chases moonlight nods at the rout of a combat and speaks. "Lizardmen, always some survive. We protect people." She gives a more assertive nod at Tragershen's words and moves to quickly cast a few spells before heading toward the town.

Cast Shield of Faith on herself and Hakram since he is likely to be a target. It's +2 deflection bonus, effectively negating the penalty for being large.

When the companions find themselves facing off an ogre, the tall shoanti takes on a determined expression and moves forward with confidence, Bites Ears at her side.

Chases Moonlight wants to be front and center. She's far more concerned with the ogre than any smaller foes and will avoid any lesser combats. She will wait for any companions who wish to engage with her. She also might be convinced to take a different approach. She's just a very straight-forward type.

Sorry for the delay. Fridays are very busy. I'll just get a short post in quick and then do a longer follow-up later.

Bites Ears snaps at the kobold again.

Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Bites Ears continues his assault on the nearby kobold while Chases Moonlight advances into melee with the other group.

Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Wow...

I'm sick and having trouble sorting out the details. Are there any goblins within 20' of Chases Moonlight? Or a charge line 40'?

Earth breaker in hand, Chases Moonlight chants a spell, drawing silvery light around the wolf at her feet in a sort of shield before issuing a command in a strange language.

Handle Animal DC 10: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

The wolf darts ahead toward the kobolds and the big shoanti lumbers after.

Cast Shield of Faith on Bites Ears, making his AC 19 (17 if he can charge). Move 20' toward the kobolds. Then Bites Ears will charge the nearest enemy, or run up if that's not possible. He can move 50' per move action or 100' on a charge.

Charge Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Trip: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Chases Moonlight sits awkwardly in the longboat, the wolf at her feet glaring at the ones who lifted it into the boat. The Shoanti woman speaks a quiet, calming word in a primitive language, to which the wolf snarls but puts its head down.

She looks a little uncomfortable sitting this close, the handle of her hammer sticking up between her legs. From this vantage, it's easy to see the large, sharp-looking tooth embedded at the end of the handle. Easier still when she speaks a brief, sharp spell and it begins to glow silvery-blue, like moonlight.

As the longboat sets off toward the town, Chases Moonlight covers the tooth with a large hand, blocking the light almost entirely.

I assume nobody speaks Shoanti. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok cool. I'll describe that in my next post.

Female Shoanti Lunar Oracle (Spirit Guide) 1 | HP: 19/19 | AC 20 (T14, FF 18) | CMB: +5 CMD: 13 | F:+3 R:+3 W:+5 | Init -2 | Low-light vision, Perception +8, Sense Motive +10, Diplomacy +7 | Speed 20 ft. | Spells lvl1: 2/5 | Wolf HP: 18/19 AC: 19 | Active Effects: Shield of Faith

If I cast light on my earth breaker, does it emanate from the entire thing or from a specific point on it?

I ask because I'd like to be able to cover the light with a hand.

I'll just have her use a stone if that doesn't work.

Female Shoanti Lunar Oracle (Spirit Guide) 1 | HP: 19/19 | AC 20 (T14, FF 18) | CMB: +5 CMD: 13 | F:+3 R:+3 W:+5 | Init -2 | Low-light vision, Perception +8, Sense Motive +10, Diplomacy +7 | Speed 20 ft. | Spells lvl1: 2/5 | Wolf HP: 18/19 AC: 19 | Active Effects: Shield of Faith

The tall shoanti woman has on a serious expression as she examines the merchant's entourage. Her normally calm, deep voice is severe and biting as she grips her earth breaker and moves with the others to the longboats.

"Some hide like coward. Others fight."

The large wolf yawns before getting up to pad after her.

Longboat assault sounds dandy.

The tall Shoanti stands stubborn at the rail of the ship as if forcing herself to face the unknown, despite her uncertainty at the prospect. Water is rare enough to see in the Cinderlands and there are certainly no ships in that barren place. This... is quite the change of scenery.

As the others chatter away, Chases Moonlight keeps a stoic eye to the sea and sky.

At one point in the journey, she takes a deep breath and wrinkles her nose, speaking briefly in a soft, low tone. Her voice is deep and smooth. Solid, like a weather-worn stone.

"Air is different here. Like salt... like cold."

To clarify, we are still at the docks at I assume around dawn? Is the moon still visible at all?

Female Shoanti Lunar Oracle (Spirit Guide) 1 | HP: 19/19 | AC 20 (T14, FF 18) | CMB: +5 CMD: 13 | F:+3 R:+3 W:+5 | Init -2 | Low-light vision, Perception +8, Sense Motive +10, Diplomacy +7 | Speed 20 ft. | Spells lvl1: 2/5 | Wolf HP: 18/19 AC: 19 | Active Effects: Shield of Faith

The moon speaks to all things. Very few listen.

-----

Deeply tanned skin turned white at the knuckles, the imposing Shoanti woman has a death grip on the rail of the gently swaying vessel, clearly unused to the ground moving so easily. Though she looks fairly stable now, her boarding had been something of an event as she nearly stumbled and had to lean heavily on the large grey wolf at her side to avoid falling in the water. The wolf, by contrast, rests at her feet comfortably, eyes half-lidded.

'Chases Moonlight' she had introduced herself as, a rather cumbersome name to say aloud, though any attempts at shortening it were met with a scowl. She made it clear that her name is important to her. Her whole name. The wolf, 'Bites Ears,' on the other hand, was rather satisfied with any name that came with a friendly or gentle tone.

As the newcomers board the ship, she watches them with a kind of calm intensity. She's not threatened by them, but she's absolutely ready to act against them if the situation warrants.

The massive earth breaker standing head-down at her feet makes that a rather intimidating possibility.

Ok I finished gear and filled out an appearance/personality section. I may get time to do a quick background tomorrow but I either way, I should be ready to start!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

This is the preliminary build for Chases Moonlight and her wolf companion, Bites Ears. I'm using a re-purposed alias so ignore the first 2 posts :)

I still have to finish up gear and write up a background/appearance section.

I'm open to suggestions if anyone thinks I should change the build at all.

Do you guys think it's important to create a second alias for the wolf?

As for shared background, my character could easily have been drawn to someone specific by the spirits that surround her.

I have an alias here but I never got an answer about whether I needed a stat block or not so I do not have one. I can build one fairly quickly if I'm selected. I have a Google sheet with it mostly done already.

I’m just a poor boy, nobody loves me.

Background (CotCT spoilers!):

An Adolescent Marius, while watching the terror in Korvosa from the rooftops:
My whole life has been nothing but running and hiding. I want to make a difference, but I’m nobody in a sea of sheep and there are wolves on all sides. It’s useless. What can I do alone that a group of real heroes could not? The answer is nothing. I’m not strong enough. I don’t have powerful friends. It’s a waste of time.

Marius grew up with a different name. Several, actually. Scamp, Runt, Slave, Boy. And many more, none of them particularly flattering. His single mother dead by the actions of a scummy local crimelord, and then taken in by the same man’s ‘generosity’, the boy led a tortured youth. Forced to learn subterfuge and trickery to earn his keep, he knew little of joy or comfort for a very long time. The only semblance of freedom he had was when he was out picking pockets and playing little tricks on the townsfolk. Still he found no joy. Only bitterness.

Relief, for what it was worth, eventually came in the form of a group of ‘heroes’ who murdered the crimelord and set him free. Aimless, but used to thriving in chaos, the boy made his own way in the aftermath of the king’s death. The next few months were a struggle as food became scarce with the plague and the city locked down under martial law. The boy watched in the crowd as the same ‘heroes’ who rescued him were executed before the queen, wearing her new Crown of Fangs.

The boy spent the next few years just trying to avoid the notice of the Grey Maidens and, after they were all dead, the devils that remained behind. In the chaos that made up Korvosa after this, the boy became an adult. Still scrawny, but fully grown, he took on the name his mother gave him again, Marius, and decided to apply his unique skills to the desperate situation in his home city. For a woefully short period of time, there was a light in the darkness that was Korvosa under the immortal queen. Marius was quick and tricky, and with the queen’s attention focused elsewhere, he did surprising amount of damage to her plans. But tricky can only go so far. And though he got into and survived several fights, he could barely make an impact on the overall situation. It was hopeless… which is exactly what he was thinking when he was caught and executed.

There was a vague sense of an empty grey nothing when a voice began to speak. Not necessarily to the boy, but the boy could hear. ”Sometimes the spark of greatness is never allowed to flourish before a soul returns to me. Usually this is no concern, part of the natural order. But perhaps this time, there is a reason to try once more.”

When he awoke, the first thing he thought after he scampered away from the pitchfork and into the corner was that both the ‘boy’ who poked him and the barn were unusually big. Never one to question his good luck, the fact that he was alive didn’t faze him in the slightest. But why was everything so much bigger than before? That’s when it hit him. The barn and the boy weren’t unusually large. He was unusually small. With a rush, he moved surprisingly swiftly toward the nearest trough where he was greeted with the reflection of an old, but familiar face. It was the young orphan boy who had found himself at the mercy of a certain crimelord in Korvosa so many years ago. Or was it so long ago? His memory was fuzzy on the details.

Is this some kind of joke?

Appearance and Personality (CotCT spoilers!):

Marius appears to be a young boy of about ten with bright blond hair, dark eyes and a devious expression on his face. Though he was a human before, now he’s something somewhat different. A child with the development and motorskills of a full adult, he’s a terror for anyone who underestimates him, which is almost everyone at this point. Numbed by his terrible and painfully short life, he’s not playful or particularly humorous. He’s a serious trickster, using deception and subterfuge for survival.

At one point, Marius had a spark of altruism when he tried to oppose the immortal queen in Korvosa, but that was rapidly quashed when he was too quickly caught and killed. So while he’s bitter and pessimistic, that spark is still buried in there somewhere. And despite his biting sarcasm and distrust for others, he longs for the kind of companionship he shared long ago with the other orphans at the fishery. If he found a group of people who would put up with him and who could earn his trust, he would be willing to compromise himself somewhat to join them. He learned the hard way that he can’t do it alone.

Ok, this is Lazyclownfish's submission. For race, I planned to combine the racial traits of Human and Halfling, which is 19 RP. I haven't built a character sheet for him yet because I can see him being built a few different ways. One cool idea I had was to use the Vigilante class but reverse the identity roles, having the Vigilante identity be his actual identity and the social identity that of a nameless orphan boy that nobody would suspect of anything. Other options are Bounty Hunter Slayer or Unchained Rogue. I plan to use Dirty Tricks as a way to debuff in combat for a support option when damage isn't the best answer.

I know for words he'd probably take Alacrity and Deception, though I'm open to suggestions on that.

His alignment is probably Chaotic Neutral, but don't use that alignment as a license to be disruptive or 'do whatever I want'. It's more about his views on freedom vs order(especially given his backstory) and his deceptive tactics in and out of combat.

His development in game would be related to trying to overcome the instincts he learned as an orphan in order to develop friendships and trust. There is the definite possibility of his alignment swinging back to Chaotic Good as well, depending on events.

I'm extremely open to criticism and suggestions.

Finally, do you need a completed character sheet for this submission to be considered or is this enough? I can build a character fairly quickly.
