Silver Crusade 4/5

As Venture Captain Utan Wormtudder and Lady Charlotte Amberdagger look at the list of recruits that have already signed up for the assignment and worry comes upon their faces.

"My, if I wanted a bunch of fighters and warmongers to go to Taldor, I would have just asked Marcus to send me some initiates." Says Utan with a sense of concern "None of this lot will do." He says."Charlotte, perhaps a more robust posting is necessary."

Charlotte looks up from the collection of applicants.. She agreed with her boss, Taldor is very much a fickle place. Not necessarily for those who wish to start fights. The Society has to be very careful as their relationship in Taldor is on thin ice, and sending a bunch of troublemakers is sure to make things worse. More clever and intelligent applicants are needed for this task.

"You can't blame them Utan. With the Fifth Crusade raging in Mendev, every fighter, is joining the Society now to get a piece of the combat action. Perhaps we will be a little more detailed in our requirements for this expedition." Charlotte says handing over the applicant list to Mariposa.

"Do what you must Charlotte, but be sure to find me the right party and soon. Our client is losing patience." Utan sits in his chair looking at the fire drinking from his stein and sighs. "What do we have to do to find some clever Pathfinders now adays?"

Mariposa and Charlotte together move downstairs to the main posting board. Removing their post, they add a new posting for their needed expedition.

Requesting Pathfinders, to make an expedition to Belhaim, Taldor, for an investigation survey. Recommended for those with extensive knowledge of the Arcane Arts, Religious Studies, and expert knowledge of forestry and creatures of the Verudran forests. Worshipers of the The Green Faith encouraged to apply.

Investigators and researchers are preferred for this task, not fighters. All applicants will be required to speak with Lady Charlotte Amberdagger before hire.

If interested, please see Mariposa Amberdagger, Junior Scribe and Assistant to Charlotte Amberdagger, Lady Ophelia Stormslayer, and Venture Captain Utan Wormtudder at Skyreach Hall.

Non-RP Note: I have worked with Warick many times. And his death, truly saddens me, in and out of character. He will be missed in the Solano/Yolo Pathfinder Society Lodge.

So Charlotte, fellow Pathfinder companion heads to the Temple of the Shinning Star in Absalom to give final prayers to Warwick.

In life, there is death. In death there is the redemption of one's soul to freedom. I pray to great Sarenrae for Warick's soul, that it may come to rest in a free and peaceful place. May he find his master, and share the adventures that he had, and may they both be at peace, free from all pain and suffering.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

I have a four and seven. But my 4 is a fighter and I don't mind playing up.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

I have GMed both of those, but not played those. I again do have low tiered chracters that can take the players credit. :D

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Because I am on staff, and spent more time doing work instead of playing, I have played nothing except the Special @ PacifiCon. So I'm open to all 5-9's and 3-7's. But I don't mind playing/running for no credit since I do game IRL as well.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Same here. I don't mind running a PbP either for no-credit/credit as well.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Me too. I'm down. Charlotte is always up for adventure!

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

I like this group as well. But I'm open to whatever. I'm liking the PbP format, and I can't wait till we get virtual tabletop as well for PFS games!

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

oooooohh. -- Ophelia would love that! (Level 10 Cleric)

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Before they leave town, a priest comes in to remove the curse on Erin. As Erin is restored, she thanks the priest and wishes him well. They exchange copies of each other's holy texts as a sign of good faith, and sharing the knowledge of mutual faiths.

Upon returning to Absalom, she stops by the Society's "Customs Item Check" and turns in all her books and special items. After debriefing, she returns home to the Amberdagger/Stormslayer compound in the Eastgate District by Evergreen Park. Plopping down her books and adventurers gear, she is immediately greeted by her sister-in-law and head of the the household Ophelia. The Lady Bishop of the Church of Sarenrae in Absalom.

Home again. Welcome back. I trust Sarenrae has granted you great providence? She asks

For the most part she did. But I am going to need some serious sleep and study time concerning healing spells. Charlotte replies.

How so? Ophelia asks surprised

It's a long story, I'll tell you over tea. Ophelia and Charlotte walk to the parlor where tea already awaits them.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Master GM I am wondering of you are going to be doing any low tiered adventures PbP? I have some second level characters who need some work and they are not primary characters I play in real life society play.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

WTF!!!??? Three failed caster checks? The hell. Well this is why Charlotte does utility spells and not healing spells.

Profession Sailor Day Job Check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Before she goes to bed, she attempts all of her checks

Sense Motive on Miltary Documents: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Linguistics on the information about the local merchants:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

In the early morning before dawn, Charlotte arises and begins to prepare her spells. As an extra precaution to last night's fiasco with the scroll, she makes sure to prep three castings of the ritual required to remove curses. While the sun rises she preforms the first round of rituals.

Caster Check:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Noticing the spell fizzles, she preforms the ritual for a second time.

Caster Level Check 2:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Growing incredibly frustrated, she attempts one final time to complete the ritual.

Caster level check final:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

After three attempts and now heavily exhausted to continue spellcasting. She returns to a church and hires a priest to remove the curse. All the while swearing in celestial. This is why I don't do healing spells. I like my cool unique spells. *swears in celestial some more* I should have become an inquisitor like my sister in law Tessara. Then I wouldn't be expected to heal things..*more swearing in celestial*

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Congrats Master Brute GM on you first star! It's all downhill from here! *points to her two shinny ones*

Also, no worries Erin, I'll try it in the morning, but if I roll low again, I'll hire the priest.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

I'll rest and give it a try the next day. If that fails, I'm getting the priest.

Charlotte seeing Ashur and Erin drift off to sleep, she goes back downstairs and pulls the books out of her bag. Seeing Gansuk, she asks him to translate the books as best he can for her.

Linguistics Check to help? 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Charlotte looks, and hears Erin still mumbling to the voices in her head. Damnit.

I go out to hire the priest to preform the service. Please put the cost on my chronicle for not having it prepared. Lessons learned.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

WOOT! -- GM, please take the cost of the scroll and hiring of priest off on my chronicle sheet for Erin. Damn low dice roller.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Ashur's takes the bottle out of her hand and drinks the entire bottle in front of her. Well I guess it was a good thing I didn't give them the expensive bottle

As she escorts both Ashur and Erin to bed, she reads the scroll to break the curse on Erin.

Spell Caster Check 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 -- if that fails, please put the scroll cost on my chronicle sheet.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Now that Charlotte is in a better position to assess everyone's injuries, she takes a good look at Ashur. She swears in Celestial. Man. I wasted a spell. This is just fatigue damage. All he needs to do is REST! She pulls out a bottle of Chelish Wine. Guess is now a good time to use this. She pulls out the bottle and gives both Erin and Ashur one glass each.

Here. Take this, and go straight to bed. Erin, I'll be right behind you to make those voices go away.

I am refering to the -20 to HP and -4 to like EVERYthing. I also use the scroll to remove Erin's curse.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Awesome! I purchase a scroll of Remove Curse from the priest to restore Erin. Does the other stuff Ashur got hit with require additional spell power?

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

She looks at Erin and then Gansuk and smiles. A small glass won’t kill her. But only one glass, she still has to be somewhat awake for the ritual.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

For the most part we are. Says Charlotte, smiling in relief to see Gangsuk again. Gansuk, we need to know if there is a local priest that may be able to help me remove some injuries we got while were at the house.

Diplomacy Gather Info-In search of a Remove Curse scroll or potion as well as a church for Ashur's negative levels. 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Well, since we've found Glory, let's get going back to town. We do owe this gentleman a drink and we need to get those voices out of Erin's head

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Charlotte puts her hand on her head at Tanrov. But can't help but have a small smile at Tanrov. Perhaps a book on the Tian language might help since we will be here a while.

Here gentlemen, allow me. Charlotte taps his main bruise on his leg.

Wand of CLW-My wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

She looks at Arkwright when he asks his question.

I can remove whatever curse there is upon her. The problem is that it will take me a day to prepare that spell. Now if we get into town, and there is someone who has a scroll of the spell, I already have the materials needed to restore her. But for now, we must make haste and return to town for assistance.

As the party leaves the mansion, the silence is almost horrifying, as we come to where Glory once was stationed, she grows sadden to see that Glory is gone and most likely by non-natural means. She mutters a small prayer to Sarenrae to bring peace to Glory wherever she is.

I guess we will have to carry on by foot. You going to be okay walking Erin?

As she says that she sees Tanrov and Ashur return with Glory, looking a little spooked but for the most part in good health. As she looks a little further, she sees a man lying on the road. And as he awakens by Ashur's touch, watches as he freaks out. Charlotte immediately comes forward in an attempt to calm the man.

Diplomacy check:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Charlotte sighs as Minsako falls to the ground and becomes lifeless. Behind her is some books,a journal and a pink gem. Looking to make sure everyone is not severely wounded, Charlotte immediately goes over, puts all the books, journal and the shiny pink gem in her bag, with the promise of taking the time to figure it all out later after she asses the party. As soon as she finishes that she comes over to Erin. She takes a look at Erin and sees the signs of a curse, but it is not life-threatening. She sees Ashur looking mighty fatigued as well. Seeing the seriousness of the party's exhaustion, it looks like a retreat is in order.

Ashur, come close, I can reduce your suffering a little bit. Erin on the other hand, I need more time to prepare for. We should head back to town and it will give me time to rest and prepare the correct rituals to help Erin.

I begin to cast Lesser Restoration on Ashur.1d4 ⇒ 1 -- 1 Level restored, and the fatigued status is removed.I do not have Remove Curse prepared, but I can cast that tomorrow on both Ashur and Erin or if we can find scrolls, I can get them taken care of in town!

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Charlotte as she moves closer to the rest of the party, gets caught up by a black tentacle. In her frustration she watches as party members get hit and take significant damage. She remembers from an advanced battle technique class that members of Sarenrae receive that her powers to channel can be used to heal and harm even in very "tight situations". As she thinks, while tied up, she is grateful that she wasn't late to that class.

Move Action: Tries to break...
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 CMB Check-If breaks, she moves to right in front of Minsako. If doesn't break, then she stays where she is.
Standard Action: Channel Positive Energy to harm Minsako-Channeling out Anya, Ashur, and Arkwright
3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4) = 13 -- Will Save DC 16 for half.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Corrections: my channel is only 14. I forgot that healers blessing only applies to cure spells not channel. My bad.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

NOT CAUGHT UP IN BLACK TENTACLES-with a 17 CMD! WIN!

Charlotte watches as everyone moves into the room as the abomination begins to take it's evil form. As the greasy black tentacles rise, Charlotte with great finesse, maneuvers her way free and cries out:

Party be healed! Slay the abomination of Sarenrae!

On my turn:
Move Action: 20 feet into the room but not too far to miss Yandu and unsheath my Scimitar while moving.
Standard Action: Channel Energy to heal-excludes Minsako
3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6) = 14 + Adding Healer's Blessing at 50% for an additional 7 points to make 21 total healing.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

GM:
On my turn which will be last :(-- I cast Bless again.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Before Initiative:

Charlotte gasps at the person standing before her. It's the woman from the inn! Oh my Sarenrae, what has she become! As she sees the woman arise and turn into a gross abomination. She immediately pulls out her scimitar and yells to the party: It's the woman from the inn! Or the woman who was from the Inn! Slay her!

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Skeletons = undead.. But next round I will make a channel to heal.. Pending of course that the dice roller will roll something more than minimum damage..

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Skeletons rise up and hits Erin and Ashur. Oh snap. Guess it's time to do some more work!

Charlote moves into position and channels the heck out of these skeletons.

It does provoke GM, so go ahead since I've got no Acrobatics

Channel Positive Energy to harm undead and I selectively channel to prevent hitting Ashur and Erin..

Channel: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) = 4
Will Save DC: 16 for half. >.<

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Charlotte moves to the end of the room. She hears someone fall off the deck and falls. She sees Ashur go overboard and screams as it happens. As she looks down with Erin and Tanrov, and he comes back.

"You okay? Do you need a check up?" She says. As she inspects him, she sees he has healed himself. So she sighs relief that he is not gravely injured.

Friends I think it's time we move on to another location.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

I think it's convention weekend all around for a lot of us. Starting Friday I also will be away from the game for PacifiCon Convention. I'll return on Tuesday.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Charlotte hears the party move away after looking at the wall. She carry's a concerned look on her face as she moves down the stairs and into the basement. Hearing everyone's need for light, she pulls out a sunrod and lets the light shine.

As Erin moves into the room, Charlotte keeps in line with the party and has her hand on the hilt of her Scimitar.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Charlotte looks around, getting lost in the Tian works of the previous room as everyone moves along. She sees a word etched on the wall, and has no idea what it is.

Linguistics Check to decipher word=1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

It looks like it has been here for a while. Charlotte says looking at great detail at the body.

Furthermore friends, I think we have some form of bloodsucker on our hands. Our poor friend here had all the blood drained out from him. She points to the spots where she see teeth marks.

See here guys, these our bite marks. What kind I can't tell, but someone was hungry and bit him up a few good times. And since there is no blood on the floor, they made sure not to loose a drop of blood either. But what is weird is all these flies here on the ground. Gross.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

All:
Catching up! Sorry! Reflex save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15--Great... More damage. I hate online dice rollers. 24/42hp[ooc]

Charlotte looks around and sees everyone healing themselves. Well at least they are self-sufficient. Most groups I work with usually expect me to do all the work. But I better do a little more so they don't hate me as much.

GM:
[ooc] Taps her wand of CLW again:-- all healed up! 31 left to go.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

She trailing behind as always, ends up eventually right behind Erin. She looks up at the poor dead body. Well, I guess someone decided this house wasn't for them. She says as she covers her nose from the rising stench.

Heal Check to determine body's decomposition time and possible cause of death: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Also.. If you could tell the dice roller to roll a little higher so we don't have to burn as many charges, and waste channels that would be great too. >.<

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

I do. But work is keeping me from posting right now. Will be catch up tonight.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Charlotte looks at the pool of water as the chill envelops her. She immediately pulls back and moves away from the pool with her right hand on her holy symbol and her
Scimitar with her left.

Guys. Something totally isn't right here. Thinks we should go to another room now.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Ark--Oh yes, totally forgot. Well then I shall allocate it accordingly! Sorry about that. You know, getting beat to a pulp via-electricity does frazzle the brain. LOL

I then have 36 charges instead 30. Negating the 6 from Ark, and putting three on mine instead of his.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Charlotte, seeing her tattered clothing with burns looks at herself in disgust. This is not my day.. she thinks out loud. She gets up and dusts herself off. Arkwright comes over to her and asks to borrow her wand. She gladly gives it up so that her party can be healed.

After that she takes a moment and heals herself.

Domain CMW: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (8, 5) + 6 = 19

Seeing that she is still bruised up a good amount she takes back her wand when Arkwright finishes and uses a few more charges:

CLW Wand Charges:
Tap one:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Tap Two:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Tap three1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Back up to 43/45.. 30 charges left on the wand!

Feeling a lot better after three charges, she looks around and makes sure that no one else is banged up. She sees a shiny gold ring on the ground laying next to the monster that lays defeated. She kicks the monster and picks up the ring.

Does anyone mind if I take the ring? Everyone is quiet and says nothing, so she slips it on. She feels a small surge of protection aura around her. Oooh. Tingly She thinks.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

I know. Just referencing..

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Have to admit, that's a great memorable moment.

I'm not a person bro. I mentioned that last trip, pay attention to the horns..

Oh ish! My bad..

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Well that's the thing, we did have things to do. We just don't have a lot of speed movements, so in order to get into range, we had to cluster. Trust me, if I had it my way, I would navigate around this thing and go to another room in the house.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Yells Charlotte in pain from the burst of electricity. Guys! I think it's time to retreat for good this time!

Reflex Save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 -- HP is now 9..

Charlotte takes one shot and hope it works!

Shot 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 -- Misses

I mean it! -- Moves 20 feet back into the room.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Cool, I load my crossbow! Then I wait till next round.

Silver Crusade

Female Human Cleric 14

Feeling rather frustrated with the wall of electricity, Charlotte moves to the other exit away from the wall.

Double moves to current location-- 35/45hp

My Homebrew Material:

  • Homebrew Fighter Tweaks - My tweaks to the Fighter class to add more martial and skill flexibility and versatility. Changes include increased number of skill points, flexible class skill selection, combat styles, and daily bonus fighter feat retraining.
  • The Chivalric Knight - A Cavalier archetype that replaces his mounted class features for a more generic, knight-protector feel. Yeah, the name could probably use a change, as I initially wanted to turn the Knight Protector prestige class, from D&D 3.5's Sword and Fist, into an cavalier archetype. The name I used for the archetype, kind of warped it from its original vision.
  • The Bladesinger - A Magus archetype that is a remake/conversion from the Forgotten Realms prestige class. I loved the flavor of the bladesinger's back when I played D&D 3.5, so I wanted to keep the class alive. The archetype's abilities were redesigned based on the class' flavor and lore, instead of just being a straight conversion.
  • My Daze Monster Spell overhaul suggestion. The original poster believed that the daze monster spell quickly became useless at higher levels. This was my attempt to make it more attractive.
  • My suggestions for fixing the Wild Stalker Ranger Archetype - These are my suggestions for fixing the archetype after NickleBricks' proposed fix.
