Background:

When Chak-chak was very young, raiders attacked him home, pillaged the community, and murdered his parents. The survivors found refuge at the nearby monastery of the Fallen Moon. With no family and nowhere else to go, Chak-chak remained at the monastery, even when the others moved on. The monks raised and educated the young tengu and rather than nurture a burning desire for revenge, Chak-chak vowed never to extract such senseless violence on another being.

As was tradition at the monastery, when Chak-chak's mentor passed away, it was time for Chak-chak to begin down a new life path and experience the world outside the monastery walls. Word had reached Quain that Tian Xia culture and interests were spreading west to the Inner Sea region. The tengu was intrigued by this potential opportunity to experience an entirely new world. He struck out for Goka where he then found passage to the "City at the Center of the World".
