I'd really like a reprint. It's hard to convert new players (and especially new DMs) without physical books.

i tried to get my PCs to allow me to run a PF/AE game but they revolted as then they would need 2 books to look up stuff, so i saddly am running PF beta and hope to find somewhere to run AE(if any online games are going i would love to join)

Use the AE classes for some of your NPCs. Your PCs will get jealous and will want to use them too ;)

Problem is most people don't seem to like it's flavor. I can't figure out why.

Two of the races have fur. I believe some people associate this to furries (I blame the internets ;-) ).

I guess from your avatar that you're above this ;-)

So I'm missing something here... when you multi-class caster levels you just add additional spells to your spell list? What about spells/day progression? Just assume for a minute it's a wizard 5/ cleric 2, how many spells/day would she have and of which classes? What about caster level?

If there were wizards and clerics in AE a Wiz 5 Cleric 2 would approximately have a caster level of 7, know cleric spells up to level 2, Wiz spells up to level 3, and could indifferently use spell slots from the Cleric 2 and Wiz 5 spell progression to cast them. And it would choose between Int or Wis as its spellcasting ability.

It is less useful than that because spelllists aren't very different from one class to another in AE.
It is also more useful because there is a lot of flexibility in AE spellcasting (converting slots from one level to another for instance)

As mentioned before, Arcana Evolved is still alive through its fans and new publishers. You can find a lot of AE links here, including the OYT forums in the top right of the page.

Hope this helps.

The only artefact of the Favored Class notion I would retain is through the notion of racial class substitution levels.

I agree. Plus, cultural class substitution levels are just as easy to make.

Arcana Evolved has sat on my shelf unopened for the last five years, as an example. I read through it once, thought it had some interesting ideas, but I never put any of it to use.

If you can put your hand on one of the novels (children of the rune or the dragons return) that might add depth and put things into perspective. I know it did for me.

You can also find a list of tools and adventures for AE here

On topic, even if PathfinderRPG is clearly Jason's baby, I'd love to see some feedback of Monte's work on Pathfinder.

We used 10+ Spell level plus 1/2 Stat modifier +1/3 CasterLevel.

The reduced stat modifier was there for the following reasons
- reducing the progression of DCs
- making stat enhancing items not as relevant as they were.
- making casters without really high stats a little less left behind

the 1/3 CL is there to ensure that the base progression matches the poor saves.

It worked quite well for us (tested with several groups from levels 1-15).

1. Random. Roll 1/2 of current hit die and add half maximum score,

I'm using this one for decades. It seems to satisfy the point-buy-lovers and roll -lovers.

I'm using it for monsters and NPCs or I just give them 55% or 75% max hit points (before con adjustment).

Anyway, it's so simple to design alternate rules for this that I don't really mind having them in the book or not.
