It seems to be more like a caster level check than an ability check.

That'd be my take as well. I'd assume that an ability check is a d20 check against a raw ability. Like a strength check. Or a charisma check. A concentration check shouldn't be an ability check.

But who knows! :)

It just feels somehow wrong to me that it doesn't get improved by luckstones and other such items. Keep on marking it as FAQ, guys! :3

Under Common Terms:

Caster Level Check
A Caster Level Check is made by rolling 1d20 and adding the caster level of the character or creature casting the spell.

It says nothing about other additions like an ability modifier, so I'd say all these checks are meant to be separate things. Chances are they wouldn't have made them separate things in the first place. imho

Might be of some help as well

Alchemist's can select Spell Knowledge as a discovery

"Select a single spell from the sorcerer/wizard spell list that is at least 2 levels lower than your highest-level extract known. You can prepare and cast this spell as an arcane spell. Preparing the spell uses up an extract slot 1 level higher than the spell’s level. Your caster level is equal to your alchemist level, and your save DCs and concentration checks are Intelligence-based. You’re considered to have this spell on your spell list for purposes of prerequisites, spell completion items, and spell trigger items.

You may select this discovery more than once. Each time, it grants you access to another spell from the sorcerer/wizard spell list."

Yes the butchering Axe sorry about that and thanks Ventnor I'll look into those traits (Let the Finagling begin 0_0)

Idk if this thread is dead but if anyone knows of a way to get proficiency with the Butchers Axe early (2-4th Lvls Specifically) for low cost that'd be amazing I wanted a 1st lvl oracle & Anti Pally combo that would use one cause he'd be an actual butcher. It fits too good thematically and all but my build my end up being feat heavy so a good way around that where i wouldn't have to give any up would be awesome (though at this point I'm slowly giving up hope) 3rd party may be acceptable depending on how my GM feels so open to that but hoping to keep more towards core or dreamscarred press as much as possible. Open to alot of races but the character is supposed to be intimating and strong so hopefully no penalties to STR or CHA (also if possible but if you got something throw it out there)

Please and Thank you for your considerations

Attacking with a mystic bolt takes the place of one of the warlock’s normal attacks, and she can make a full attack using mystic bolts. The warlock vigilante attacks with mystic bolts as though they were light one-handed weapons, and the bolts can be used for two-weapon fighting (with each hand creating one mystic bolt) and feats and abilities that apply to weapon attacks (unless they’re excluded from that feat, such as with Power Attack). Weapon Focus (ray) doesn’t apply to mystic bolts, but a warlock can take Weapon Focus (mystic bolt) and apply it to both melee and ranged mystic bolts.

Mystic Bolt counts as a light one handed (either ranged or melee) weapon for the purposes of 4 things

1.) Attacks: Id say for melee attacks you would add your strength as normal as they are treat normally for attacks (I'd even let you power attack with them as long as you don't make any attacks at touch in the round because power attack is only excluding it due to the ability to make 1 attack per round at touch but I'd say that'd be more a house-rule than anything)

2.) TWF (Explained in the entry)

3.) Feats and Abilities that apply to weapon attack that don't exclude them : Lethal Grace is an ability and weapon finesse is a feat that both apply to light melee weapons when using your Dex to hit so Mystic bolts should count towards both
