Background:
Born in the hinterlands of Varisia Casta was not destined for much in life. His mother, a botanist helped a town in the far reaches of the Storvall Plateau survive. His father a local leader in the militia helped to keep it safe. And for a long while they did just all those things. Then a raid from the Hold of Belkzen took his family prisoner. He and his mother along with some of the few survivors of the town were hauled off as slaves. Passing from one tribe to the next as trade, loot, or just cast aways the two of them survived. He managed to escape any serious harm along the way, albeit it was mostly due to his mother’s quick thinking offering any knowledge she could to gain favor with the chieftain or whomever of the tribe they stayed with. This occurred for years and he passed into adolescence and young adulthood. This life was hard but he managed to survive, yet it changed yet again when the tribe they stayed at was attacked in turn by knights of Lastwall. The battle was fierce and in the fighting his mother perished. This horrible moment crushed Casta. Between the death he had experienced in life and now the loss of his mother he had began to develop a darker side. He however was liberated by the knights and brought to Lastwall. His intelligence quickly peaked the interest of the knight captain who decided to take him under his wing feeling a familiar way after seeing his mistreatment at the orcs. It was here he was taught the finer ways of using a blade. After a time learning to fight and defend himself he was enlisted into the Knights of Lastwall. He was given a weapon, a small stilleto dagger which he worked well with and was to be a siege engineer and advisor. Within the knights he felt a deep loathing for them. The nagging anger for what he saw as the death of his mother ate away at him. Until one day while advising a knight he murdered him. The feeling was exquisite, and for once he felt true joy and purpose. He quickly disposed of the evidence and what followed is a grisly series of murders of multiple soldier that caused panic amidst the Lastwall soldiers. Each one fed the dark appetite he had for murder and the moment of death on his victim’s face was thrilling. He eventually decided that he would try real revenge, killing Knight Captain Bartholdi. The man who saved him and inadvertently killed his mother. Though planned and executed well he found the captain far more capable than he thought. He was branded a murder, traitor and spy. He was sentenced to death, until a mysterious figure offered him salvation as long as he signed a contract.
Appearance and Personality:
Casta Riled looks like a normal person, his dark close cropped hair is neat and his face his nice of somewhat bland. He is thin but tough from everything he’s experienced. He carries with him an assortment of chemicals herbs and other thing. His mother’s teachings when she could helped give him an appreciation for sciences and the power of the mind. A dagger thin as a finger but strong is barely visible on his side. The prominent thing however is his violet eyes, which pierce and unnerve those he looks at. Like a predator sizing up prey few can’t say with certainty that he doesn’t have an unnatural air about him. This only is made worse when he begins to use his concoctions on himself. Self created and self tested they have left faint chemical marks on his lips and hands. His personality is just as unnerving as his loos. He is one who prizes logic as the law of the world and universe. He shows little concern for most people finding some interesting and fewer as friends. He finds these oddities as her refers to them fascinating. Al, other people however are barely even that. With most people offering so little in terms of knowledge or interest they have two purposes for him. Subjects to test his practice on, and entertainment; as he watches death sink in and they lifeforce slip out. Despite all this his demeanor can be friendly and even charming at times, but it’s not long before the mask slips and the evil behind it peers out.
