Mythic Path:
Probably Marshal, but I also like Champion and Guardian. Hard to say for sure without knowing what the other PCs will do and how Carroun relates to them

Backstory:
Carroun was found in the wild by a wandering Half-Elf. The Half-Elf took him in and raised him as her own son.

As a teenager, Carroun's Garuda heritage began to manifest itself. He was sometimes picked on for the feathers he began to grow. One evening he ran into the woods to escape from a gang of other kids that were tormenting him. He escaped the kids, but was captured by cultists. They subjected him to a ritual. Whatever the intended purpose of the ritual was, it only seemed to plant in him a burning hatred of demons. He escaped from the cultists and returned home.

After returning home, the nearby monks taught him to center himself, pouring everything into the flame burning inside himself. From them he learned how to study lore and soak up information. He even learned how to teach and give advice to the younger monks as time passed.

As he began to grow restless at the monastery, he sought the martial training of an old, retiring Paladin Crusader. In the course of his training, the Paladin reinforced the things his adoptive mother had told him about goodness, redemption, and faith.

When his training was sufficiently complete, he set out for Kenabres, the fire of demon-hatred burning in him hotter than ever.

Plot Hooks:
-an opportunity arises to find out more about the unsuccessful ritual the cultists tried to perform upon

-an opportunity arises to hunt down the leader of the cultists that captured him

-his old mentor, the retired Paladin, is
a) captured by cultists and taken behind enemy lines, or
b) returns to the Crusades for one last time, but is captured

-and of course, he's always up for some demon smack-down for any reason

Progression Plan:
1: Monk/Paladin
2: Monk/Paladin

It was the Gods who put Carroun where his mother found him--they have plans for him, so he gains a level of Oracle. I might decide not to take this level of Oracle, but for now it is my plan.
Meanwhile, Carroun seeks to pick up some new skills for hunting down Demonkind, so he starts taking levels in Inquisitor, as well as Ranger (favored enemy: Evil Outsiders)
3: Oracle/Inquisitor
4-5: Ranger/Inquisitor
6: Ranger/Paladin
7: Paladin/Inquisitor
8: Ranger/Inquisitor
9+: Ranger/Paladin

I might stop taking levels in Inquisitor sooner than Inq 5, but for now, this is my plan

archetypes:
Monk: Sensei

Paladin: Oath of Vengeance, Oath Against Fiends

Ranger: None decided yet--probably Infiltrator, maybe some others
