At first she saw your regal bearing and could sense the aura of good that surrounded you, (or at least thought she could) and assumed you must have been a paladin. Since her master was (not-as-secretly-as-he wished) a necromancer, he taught her that even though she wasn't bent towards the more vile acts of her chosen trade, that she should be able to identify and avoid such figures whenever possible.
When she saw your holy symbol of Abadar, she chalked her initial suspicions up to paranoia. Since she is familiar with the church (skilled in knowledge: Religion and could easily pass the take 10 chance to identify the deity and his basic tenets) and is rather prejudiced against them, viewing them as a bunch of greedy, gold-mongering profiteers, she deduced (incorrectly, of course, mostly since paladins of Abadar are rare and she's never seen or heard of one) that you were more likely a hired mercenary attached to the church as an agent. Likely assigned to tasks that would no doubt aid in the filling of the church coffers and the spread of their noble-serving filth...er, propaganda... ummm... I mean beliefs. =)
She likely would have been quite shocked the first time she saw you smite evil or use another of the paladin class signature powers, not quite sure how to act around you after it was clear that you were, indeed, a paladin of Abadar. She may have tried to talk to you about how it came that the church was accepting and training holy knights in a religion so dedicated to self-service. (or so SHE thinks) She certainly would prefer travelling with a paladin of such a god as Abadar than to traffic with a servant of Iomedae or Saranrae, who would likely invite her to a bonfire party in her honor.
Knowing that Teien left so soon after I did makes me regret a bit that I didn't stick it out and get the opportunity to roleplay this.
The pale form of Carnivyx watched silently from her carriage as the larger part of the group of adventurers departed from the manor of the Swordlords, heading in different directions and looking all manners of irritated, resigned and hopeful.
"Hmmm..." she mused quietly to herself as she stroked the cool, lumpy hide of her companion, "It looks like the mercenary, the gangly-looking boy and the well-mannered cutie are going to get their chance after all."
She gave one last look at the grand manor and the people of Brevoy before drawing the curtains of her rented coach closed and rapping sharply on the dark wooden siding opposite the driver, indicating she was ready to ride on.
"My time will come soon enough." She whispered to no one in particular.
Smiling softly as she rubbed her index finger over the spot on her hand where Jonas had kissed her.
Congratulations to all of you who got in!
Glad to see Kragath, Ingle and Jonas make the cut. You guys were my favorites from the beginning. (and the Witch)
Sorry to see Rorgrym not make it, not that Carnivyx would have accepted an offer to stroll the banks of the Sellen River alone with him to 'discuss philosophy' any time soon!
I'll be watching this game as it develops, between playing in DM Patcher's Serpent's Skull PbP (YAY! I got in!) and toying with the idea of starting up an E6-style Pathfinder PbP of my own. Thanks again to DM Patcher for being awesome and giving us all the chance to play!
Carnivyx extends Kragath a courtsey and the slightest wink, "Many thanks Good Sir." hoping to dispel any lingering misunderstanding between them.
She offers friendly "Good-byes" to anyone else who wishes her well before departing.
Kragath:
I was looking forward to that too! But given the preference to a racially diverse fellowship, I figured I could always use the girl to torment a paladin in a future PbP. =)
Just as she was settling in with her new potential companions, a young scruffy teen a city messenger by the look of his attire quickly approched Carnivyx and whispered a message in her ear.
Message:
"You have urgent business to attent to Ms. Carnivyx, the Master Duskbringer regrets that he must cut your business here short."
With a short, disappointed scowl Carnivyx stands and apologetically speaks to her newfound friends. "So sorry, but it appears I have some matters that need my attention elsewhere." And just when I was beginning to enjoy myself...
She gives Jonas a parting smile and softly brushes his shoulder as she follows the messenger out of the manor.
DM Patcher:
looking over the racial diversity of casters and my similarity with the witch, I will bow out of the selection. Thank you for this awesome oppurtunity and I will keep an eye on this!
Surprised by the sudden gathering of more halflings than she had seen in one place since a child, Carnivyx takes a hasty check of her coinpurse and other immediately vulnerable belongings before accepting offers of a seat.
taking sure to make certain that seat is close to Jonas and quietly mouthing to him "Thank you again." "Gentlemen, my name is Carnivyx, of no house or family of any great importance. You may call me Carni." she pauses for a moment to whisper a swift, soft incantation which causes an eerie blue-green light to flicker briefly around a carved bone ring on her slender finger. "I am an apprentice to Morhan Duskbringer of Lodovka. Recently released of his service to, as he put it, 'Find my place in the world.'"
Morhan Duskbringer:
His name conjures a wizard of some note known to have been a mortician and rumored to have dabbled in necromancy
DM Patcher:
Carnivyx will likely try for the Magister role, I will update her views on Necromancy and anything/anyone from her past very shortly for you, but she is definitely not the type of girl to try to wander around civilized lands with a cadre of zombies or a big ogre skeleton at her side.
Very pleased at the transpiring events, Carnivyx smiles invitingly and weakly takes the hand of any who offer while remaining close to Jonas' side throughout the introductions.
Barely resisting the urge to scruff the hair of the particularly fierce looking halfling she also takes quick note of the holy symbol hanging about the neck of imposing man whom had initially caught her attention.
Hmmm... Perhaps this one is more a mercenary than a crusader...
The large toad in her pocket shifted nervously as it must have caught the scent or sight of the greasy creature belonging to the elf during their brief exchange.
"shhh...pet, I do not think the beast is interested in dining on something as unpleasant tasting as you." she mouthed silently to her hidden companion, quietly fastening the pocket closed, just in case.
"My name is Carnivyx, kind sir." she smiles as his lips brush against her skin...
He'd surely blanch paler than me if he'd known where these hands were a few hours earlier. "But my close associates call me Carni. You may feel free to address me as such as well if it suits you." her eyes brighten as she speaks, and she seems to become more relaxed in the young man's company. Brushing back an errant strand of black hair and leaning slightly forward. "I would be in your debt if you would aid me in introducing myself...er, Ourselves," she hastily corrected, "I have a tendency to make the occasional social blunder when dealing with certain castes."
As she starts to rise from her uncomfortable chair, she seems to balk for just a moment, "Manners, manners... I do apologize Sir, but what is your name?"
"Not at all." She answers softly, extending a pale, slender hand to the newly arrived man. "In fact, I was just about to go do some mingling, but now that you have arrived you have saved me the effort of forcing myself on stangers." She casts a final look over at the imposing man entertaining the dwarf and strange elf and offers her new companion the empty chair beside her, hoping he doesn't notice her cold hand or the squirming lump in her pocket...
Taking note of the small crowd assembling about the holy warrior and his occasional glances in her direction, Carnivyx's scowl turns into a slightly curled, awkward smile as she surveys the knight and his growing entourage. Silently hoping that her attempt at appearing benevolent isn't misinterpreted as an intimidating smirk of malice. "Why can I never seem to nail that coy look down?" she muttered softly to the squirming form in her pocket.
The deep, throaty croak of it's reply bringing quite the startled response from a pretty young serving girl as she passed by with a tray of "fresh" refills.
Carnivyx weakly smiled at the poor thing and tapped her chest in excuse. "Must be the cheese."
Carnivyx sits patiently in an elegantly crafted, yet uncomfortable red velvet cushioned chair watching the assembled crowd and servants with bored apathy. The occasional appearance of a noble checking in on the growing group of would-be heroes as they dine on watered-down wine and foul-smelling cheese, flares her hatred of the caste. "Soon," she thought, "I will have my place above you pampered fools." Pushing the memories of her present situation away, she concentrates on what just a short time ago seemed like an unobtainable future and scans the room for potential conflicts of interest. Her eyes falling on what looks to be a paladin, she scowls and absently strokes the warty hide of the vile toad squatting unseen in her pocket. "That one may be a problem..."

Questions:
1) Why are you interested in working with the Swordlords of Brevoy Purely out of self-interest. She wants to see herself elevated to the lofty station she believes she deserves, and working with Brevoy may be a means to that end.
2) What is your motivation to reclaim the Stolen Lands? To win a title, lands and respect.
3) What will your character contribute to the group? Ranged and some melee arcane damage. Buffs and Debuffs. Extra bodies in the fights through summoned monsters and commanded undead. Lots of Knowledge skills.
4) What are your plans for your character mechanically? Stay a Necromancer til the end. Focusing on dark magic and summoning monsters as well as crowd control through spells and enhancing feats. Plan to upgrade the Toad to a Dust Mephit with improved Familiar.
5) What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective? She is going to start out as an aggressive expansionist. Looking to capitalize on any perceived angle where she stands to gain power or status. She is quick to ally with anyone who can help her reach those ends. Despite her class and lack of morality, she isn't evil at heart and has some good qualities, such as a love for children and a desire to help see the unfairly downtrodden persevere over oppressing nobles.
