TOTALLY NOT DEAD
I think that selfish jerk took the chance you gave him from the magic to flee. And he probably made it! I bet he did honestly, snakes are great escape artists. Probably used the distraction from the pigs to draw off the sharks and is already a couple miles away calmly approaching a nice island to live out his days in a tropical paradise. Yup, that's what happened!
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
A pressing mental compulsion falls upon those Carlosss briefly called allies. KILL HARRIGAN Most likely that was already on everyone's mind, but a little mental reminder never hurts. _________________ Don't Roll Bad y'all, I took them all for you: Carlosss Combat d20 Rolls: 6, 9, 6, 4, 6
Good Game, I'll be back soon!
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss’s fall to the water is much faster than he expects. He thinks he said something clever, but when the water rushes at his face, all he can think is to hold his breath. The shock of the cold dark encompasses him and almost forces the lifesaving breath from his body as his muscles clench up reflexively. Curling into a ball for a moment, it is like he is frozen in time, watching in horror as the massive muscular swimming sets of teeth head his way. He frantically and somehow twists away from the first bite, then his luck runs out. As they blast past, he takes a chance and breaks for the surface! Cant take song below water. Take Ten Swimming is a 22.
…if for several fortunate reasons he manages to make it consciously to the surface, he looks for a rope and tries to gtfo of the death water. Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 6 …if he doesn’t surface, I’ll have a different follow up post.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
You hear claws scrabbling on the other hull as Carlosss disappears out of view, "I regret almost everything!" Then a loud splash.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Emboldened with idiocy and a bit of new respect for how Jack is handling his setback, Carlosss says 'f!+& it' and kicks into gear, hoping to launch himself over the short gap to the other ship. Acrobatics DC 10: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 ... Reflex DC 20 to grab on?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Splash? I uh... understand Akimi's 'rolling terribly when it matters' issues now. Intended jump indicated in orange. I'm guessing I would land in the water just short?
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss frowns, "F+, they don't even have a damn blade to strap to your arm? What kinda operation is this?!?" Fortunately his words don't carry across the sounds of battle. Or at least hopefully they don't. He leans in towards Jack and gives him a comforting shoulder grab, "If you can keep anyone from sneaking up on me, I can cast some nasty spells and at least you and I can survive this."
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
All the better reason to keep him close. GM does he or Sandara have armor and if so what kind? Cause if mage armor gives them a boost, he’d use his cast on that for them.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
I say Jack as well then. Better to keep those we care more about closer than farther where more random bad shit can happen.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
The snake just nods, ”It would be a nice pick me up.” Diplomacy Aid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 When the shit goes down he keeps his head down. His damn leg won’t stop twitching though.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss just nods, his mouth suddenly dry. He pats his kukri and gives a quick shake of his head to the question. Once the captain is gone he releases his breath and says, "Be right back." Rushing below and unlocking his footlocker, he pulls out his crossbow and fits it securely around his body, quiver strapped tightly on as well. A quick 'f*%+' under his breath and he rubs the soapy stone over his body, leaving a thin bubbly sheen on his scales. Cast Mage Armor, lasts two hours. He re-finds his allies up top and whispers to them, "Could we just uh, yo know. Knock the guards out or something?"
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss's body shivers as the adrenaline dumps. Shit. Shit shit shit. We might actually do piraty things. I am NOT ready for this. Con + Work Hard: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 4 = 7 and Double Shift Con + Work Hard: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 4 = 19 He does not clean stuff very well. But if a fight is to occur, it will mess everything up anyway. Hopefully no one notices.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
The snake gives himself a good sniff after the comment, ”I showered today though, I’m very clean.” He shrugs and heads off to do his job dutifully. Humans… Con + Work Hard: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 4 = 17
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss's body warms at the kiss and his heart flutters unusually so. He stands with a smile and a sinuous stretch, "You must tell me about the popcorn incident... someday. But for now, I just want you to come to bed with me."
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss leans in and snatches the utensil from Jack, using it to feed him until the bowl is empty, "I know this is cliché and I'm not helping you learn to manage things yourself, but that's what uh... boyfriends should do. Or so I've heard. Plus, you'll get plenty of time to practice spoon work later." *WINK* Later in the conversation, the idea of friends at the monastery brings a frown to the snake-man's face, "I uh. No. No friends. I expect what you have dealt with regarding bigots is similar to what I have regarding my unique appearance. And when their is one obvious outsider in a group of kids, it isn't hard to guess who becomes the target of hate." He shrugs, "I, like you, got out of there as fast as I could. First ship hiring swabs once I hit the 'age of adulthood'. I must have had a bit better luck than you though, jumping from job to job for a while before getting caught up here." He ladles a spoonful into his mouth and grimaces a bit, "But the food could definitely be improved."
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
As Jack helps Carlosss with a bath, the snake recognizes his boyfriend's reluctance, "It's okay, bathtime isn't honestly as uh... intimate as one thinks. It's usually just for cleaning, go grab us some grub, I'll finish up here." He spends his evening simply enjoying it with Jack, talking about all sorts of things. Politics, religion, family... you know, easy topics.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss slinks off to the side, looking exactly like something the snake dragged in... and swallowed... and digested... and shit out. He exhales though, boarding action is NOT the place for him anyway. At least this trial is over and he isn't dead. He watches the other two that always seem to get lumped in with him, secretly hoping they do it competently. Maybe then Krine will stop screaming so much. His teeth hurt from the grating sound.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss looks up at the slick side of the ship and the thin rope in his hands, ”Uh… this is why I’m not a rigger. But hey, who knows? Probably won’t drown if I fail at least… probably.” Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 3
”Uh, the rope wasn’t tight.” Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 13
”Woah, that barnacle is not a good place to put my foot.” Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 6
”Oh Shiii-“
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss is about to quietly climb down into the rowboat when Odium taunts him. He pauses a second then shrugs off the insult, "Mistakes are how one learns. I'm not as experienced as you all obviously, but at least I'm willing to try things." Using what he learned watching the others the day before he rows out a bit and then cautiously stands with a grappling hook and rope, swinging it a few times before letting loose and just barely making it over the railing. AC 5 - Range: 1d20 + 3 - 6 ⇒ (9) + 3 - 6 = 6 He waits to see how Fox does before trying to reel them in for the climbing.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss enjoys a bit of fun with the boys, then enjoys a lot more fun with his boi. Not Lewd, but a bit Naughty:
He whisper's in Jack's ear before they beat a hasty retreat to a private-ish corner, "I've got something special to show you. I can control the poison on my tongue so that it numbs, but doesn't harm. It can help make things last longer." He curls his tongue around the earlobe in front of him and smiles as goosebumps erupt on his companion's neck. Expecting another dreamless night as he passes out snuggling the young sailor, Carlosss is surprised the next day by his vivid recollection of the events in his sleep. He goes through everything as he does his morning stretches, barely noticing the audience this time. Got damn, what did I drink yesterday? Was the sea really talking to me? It was a nice conversation, but was it just in my head? Did I really need that much encouragement to stay on this ship? That I'm in the place I need to be? I guess the thought had crossed my mind, but then I met a couple good people and haven't seen a good chance to split. Eesh, I don't know. I have always been drawn to a life on ships. Maybe this is the one for me, even if I don't agree with some stuff they do here. And then the zombie attack. F@ that was intense. I wonder if that spell I was using would actually work. It's sorta like my ray of frost, just with a half-turn the other way. Hopefully I won't ever have to find out. He makes it up to the deck and feels the swells of the waves and hears the sound of them crashing against the hull. He looks confusedly at Draxxie, "Did you hear... nevermind." I coulda sworn the f#*!ing ocean just said 'you belong to me.' He follows the four to the shit deck, "Reporting for Duty." _____________________ Edit to Add Leveling HP Roll: 1d6 ⇒ 3
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss shrugs at all the whining from so called tough people and digs in. You hear loud crunching and he smiles big, ”It’s nice! Like chewing up bits of bone.” He elbows Cog, ”This sick bastard knows what I’m saying.” Diplomacy to Influence Cog: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Stealth + Work Diligently because I don't know why not?: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 4 = 14 Carlosss does okay, probably. He gets some rats and bugs and stuff. But to be honest, his heart simply isn't in the job. Besides, most of them are all gone from all his successes earlier in the week. He does enjoy each rat being stabbed, recalling what they did to his boi.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Valid point Asami. He shrugs at the comment from Draxxie, "I usually don't get into fights."
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss slips into the boat and helps pull the carcasses and Samms in, "Good job there buddy, way to keep your wits about you. Looks like Draxxie was their main target anyway." He turns to the half-elf, "You okay ma'am?" No objection here. I'd say 5 int is more like a 'smart paladin mount' intelligence than sapience. Still an animal, just at the top of how smart said animal can be. Hell, we eat octopi and no one throws a fit about that, and they are super smart irl.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss pops back up above the water and shakes off the glowing rune wrapped around his hand, "Apparently those overgrown lobsters were no match for you all. Well done. Once they stop thrashing around, we should be able to retrieve the bodies, but I'd wait until then. I have ssome skill with poisons, but not a lot related to harvesting them. Either way, the meat should be good on those big critters." I have Poison Resistance +1 per level and Poison Use, but no skills at this point related to poison harvesting.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss hollers,”Alright, I’m going to dive down and see what is happening.” There is no response. He looks around and squints, ”Oh… they all left me up here. I should probably uh… go.” He focuses for a fraction of a second, hoping whatever threat can be hurt by his anti-water creature water power, then pokes his head underneath the water. Cast bloodline power, hold the charge, hold his breath, swim down 5 feet, ugh this quarter move speed as a move action is horrid! Swim DC 10: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss looks down into the water. Other than shapes and shadows moving around, he can’t really see what is happening. There is definitely some blood too, hopefully not pirate. He focuses on the waves and the protection they provide. One of them crashes slightly over him, splattering a slick protective crystalline salt layer onto his skin. He smiles, ”The ssea has our back, let uss go help.” Mage Armor up, then swim 1/4 speed. Swim DC 10: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Swim 15 ft DC 10: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 Carlosss dives forward, sleek body easily cutting through the waves. Not as effortlessly as Draxxie or Odium, but definitely sexier than the latter. Full Action to Swim half Speed when his turn comes up, which is super soon.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Profession: Sailor t: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Carlosss is enjoying the gentle rise and fall of the waves. His pot is full, so he is taking advantage of the semi-freedom from the whip to playfully splash Draxxie. Odium already glared at him when he tried the same trick earlier. He sprays water at the sea elf and then catches a glimpse out of the corner of his eye, "Oh sshit! Thosse aren't jusst big oness, they're reef-clawss, whatchout fer the poisson!"
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss stretches out as they row to the reef, ”I ain’t against you doing the retrieval, but I am definitely going for a nice swim. It has been too f$+&ing long since I was in the drink. My scales could use a salt bath too.” Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
…the fish are pretty at least.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss has a wonderful evening and sleeps very well, snuggled in with someone he is definitely falling for. His shower in the morning is also more enjoyable, finally having someone to wash his back. He inspects the crab pot, trying to figure out if it is a bait and wait fishing tool or just a place to store crabs.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
I was going to make a comment about Carlosss’s evening action, but I figured I’d just RP it all. It was better that way anyway. Also, being that everyone just literally survived a life and death situation with the storm, it would not surprise me if there wasn’t a decent bit of coupling this evening.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss breaths a sigh of relief at the joy shown by Jack and smiles down at the craftsman, "Maybe we can make a good memory to it, no matter how overplayed the song is." He leans in for a gentle kiss.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss exhales hard, "A f%#@, my bad." He seems a bit smaller after the faux paux but powers ahead anyway with a question, "How about we slam these rums and have a dance. Maybe I won't say anything stupid then. I can lead or follow, whatever you want." Perform: Dance: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss puts on a serious face and steps into an exaggerated muscle pose, accentuating his toned frame. He adds a faux deep baritone to his voice and replies, ”Oh this body lookss good? I didn’t know.” He holds the pose for another second and then releases it with a grimace, ”Oww, that was dumb. I really overplayed my hand there.” He gives a wry smile, ”Thanks for the drink, I could use it, my back is killing me.”
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss wakes up, comfortably spooning… uh. He tries to quietly extricate himself from the Undine’s side and simply walks away saying nothing and hoping he doesn’t get poisoned today. He splashes some water on his face, does a quick soap scrub of it, his pits and bits then washes his entire outfit. Wringing it out well, he floofs the bathers out and pulls them back on. Heading up into the rain he gets his assignment. Working his way to his post by the captain, he stretches out for a long day of running. Acrobatics - Rain + Hardly Working: 1d20 + 2 - 2 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 2 - 2 + 4 = 19
His body is sore and his brain is mush by the time the dinner bell jangles.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss would say or do something witty, probably. If he weren’t already asleep the second he fell into his bunk. Hopefully it was his bunk. Or at least someone who didn’t mind sharing.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss leans forward to get a better grip, knowing Draxxie is helping counterbalance him, "Good grip there Drax. I feel ssafe in your arms." But if she was about three inches lower, I might think she was copping a feel! His brow furrows, "I wonder what all that father stuff is about?"
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss grabs a rope, one that most likely is specifically for anyone washed over board, and tosses it out to sea in their direction, "Little help here Draxxie, two ropes have a better chance of getting close than one." Dex to get it close? - Fatigued: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 2 - 1 = 21
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss is almost happy for the task. It's hardwork, but he was actually getting the hang of it and at least knows exactly where he left off. Profession: Sailor t + Hard Work: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 4 = 10
But his confidence is misplaced and his hands keep getting stuck in the ropes as he tries to unwind the knots. He keeps praying none of them snap taut at a bad moment. Damn, like ONE day from a refresh on that profession sailor trait reroll. :'(
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss is in a good mood. Doing a good thing always does that to him. Maybe someday he’ll actually remember that and stop doing bad things too. Then he sees Scourge and bad things come to mind. He spends the first bit of the day dwelling on those bad things before he realizes the shit everyone is in right now and focuses hard on his task. He ain’t one to offer up prayers. But today, a few slip past his clenched teeth. Profession: Sailor t + Hard Work: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 4 = 19
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss will share as well, "I can't say I have a good memory like that from my childhood, but it wasn't all bad. Some of the other orphans weren't total dicks, but being low race on the totem pole doesn't do you any good when it is decided who gets picked on. But there were good things too, I never went hungry. I always had a place to sleep. I learned rigorous control over myself too, so when my magics manifested I didn't hurt anyone or lose my mind.' "But the one really good thing happened every morning. See, the temple I was raised in was up on the hill slightly above the city. And most days as the sun came up I could sit up on the east wall and watch it rise out of the ocean. Just pure golden light reflecting off an endless expanse of possibility. It was breathtaking. As it rose higher I could see all the ships moving, sailing in and out of the harbor. I don't know if I have a specific connection to the sea, some people say I look like I do, but I could tell from an early age that the only way I would ever truly be free was to hop on a ship and never stop." "Obviously I'm not free now... but someday, who knows." As they eventually doze off Carlosss promises the young sailor, "As long as I live, I will seek a way to allow you to craft again. That is my promise to you." Probably not too much here to do, but the main thing I want to express is that Jack is not alone, Carlosss is here for him. Also yes, Carlosss is most likely going to enter the next day or encounter fatigued or exhausted, depending on how much sleep he gets. I expect they will at least talk a few hours and then maybe snuggle?
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss stands there for a second while Jack talks. He lets out a hisss and collects his thoughts. F~#@. I’ve been working to make friends of most of the crew so when shit goes down I might survive. But have I been a good friend? F*$# no. I’m just using my looks and charm like an ass. He sits down on the hammock and as Jack buries his face in his hands, Carlosss wraps him up in a big hug, pulling the tearful young man (right? Not a teen like cabin girl?) into his warm scaled chest. ”It’ss okay Jack, it’ss okay,” he repeats, over and over soothingly. After a bit, maybe thirty seconds, maybe five minutes, he loosens his grasp and looks at Jack, ”I’m not wise, Scrimshaw. I’m not old and full of wisdom. But I’ve learned one thing, you never give up. Because around the next corner or maybe not until the fifth next corner, is something good. Now tell me more about this dwarven maiden. Or about a happy part of your past. Or even a shitty joke. I’m here to listen and learn something about a new friend.”
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Sense Motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
After grabbing his meal and ration, Carlosss sits next to Jack, "How you doing bud? I can't even imagine lossing a limb. I'm here for you if you ever want to talk or... whatever." Diplomacy + Rum: 1d20 + 4 + 1d4 ⇒ (15) + 4 + (2) = 21 Assuming no extensive interaction, the snentleman gulps down the sandwich and washes it down with fruity-ish rum before hopping up, heading to bed to try to get a few z's.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
With the blowing pelting rain, at least Carlosss doesn't have to take as many water breaks. Or worry about a shower in the morning. He looks around at everyone with a bit of a frown, This probably IS their shower. With that disgusting thought rattling around his brain, he actually feels better about his solo action the night before. He gets to work, quite happy to NOT be up in the rigging. Profession: Sailor trained - Wet n' Wild + Work Hard: 1d20 + 4 - 2 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 2 + 4 = 23
He did his job but goddammit he is tired!
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss's disappointment as everyone begins crashing for the night is pretty obvious. He was pretty sure this would lead to something good. But Sandara is right, he can always solo the game. He secures his crossbow and scrollbox in his lockbox and crawls into his hammock, nude as usual. He quietly attempts to relieve his stress in the darkness. Eventually the job is done, though much less enjoyable than it could have been. He slips into a deep sleep, comfortable with the extra rocking of the ship.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss winks to Sandara, "Oh ma'am, I prefer to tosss from all ssortss of ssidess, no one way iss better than t'other." He gives everyone a great view of his body as he works through some stretches, "That wass my problem, not loosse enough! Who'ss up for another game?" Five more silver are slapped down onto the table.
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Carlosss tosses five silver into the pot, "Let'ss get diss thing going!" He tests absentmindedly strokes the hob with a sharp nail, before getting a couple test grips. He nods like he knows what he is doing and spins around once to give it a heave! Ranged - Improvised: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 4 = -1 He looks at the target area with concern, "Where'd it go?"
TOTALLY NOT DEAD
Seriously? Spiders? THIS IS THE SEA IT'S OBVIOUSLY A HUMANOID MANTIS SHRIMP! Carlosss hisses, "AH F!@! IT COG. I'll give ya a match! But ya gotta go firsst so I know what to do. Ain't never tosssed an ingot before." He elbows the pirate next to him, "though I ain't ssaying I can't tosss ssomethin else, if ya know what i mean, HAHA!" He borrows some of the grease used on the ingot to oil up his arms and chest. The firelight really makes his scales shine and sparkle. Draxxie may be able to perform. But this guy, he can perform too. He may have had more than the required one rum ration this evening. |
