BACKGROUND
Cardon Quid is the unwanted child of his elven mother Isarlia (a hopeless junkie) and some random human drug pusher who traded her favours for a fix (not the first or only time that happened). He bounced around for many years from orphanage to orphanage until he finally got himself mixed up in Gaedren Lamm's clutches. Not particularly skilled at pocket-picking or lock-opening, Cardon served as the voice man on a job; if things went badly, he talked them out of it.
Cardon has a gift for the gab, which has gotten him into and out of trouble more times than he can count. Ever since he can remember, a few sly words and a wink and a smile were all it took to convince everyone he was an innocent little darling, just a little 'lost'.
Until the day he and his crew were sent to raid a home rented to some outlanders. What at first seemed to be a normal, humble bed-and-breakfast (Veil House), was soon revealed as an underground temple and gathering place for the faithful of Sivanah, who were not swayed (though impressed) by Cardon's verbal illusions. After learning a quick lesson in manners from the Sivanah flock, Cardon and his crew were set free with empty pockets and sore bottoms. It took Cardon a full seven days to work up the courage to return to that home, this time as an inquiring visitor rather than a would-be burglar.
The clerics of Sivanah had been waiting for him, as they immediately knew a kindred spirit when they saw one. Gaedren was not impressed with his new loyalty, and beat him mercilessly day after day, trying to learn of these clerics and to break his resolve to return to them. He failed, and one day, with some help from a friend, he managed an escape and fled to the Sivanah house. They hid him and instructed him in the ways of their goddess.
When Cardon was 13, he began to manifest other powers, arcane powers not given him by Sivanah. At first, the clerics didn't know what to do with this development, until they saw an opportunity to spread their influence into one of Korvosa's mightiest establishments: the Acadamae. They pulled some strings and obfuscated others, until Cardon Quid was the Acadamae's newest student. There, Cardon studied hard and learned the powers of conjuration. It was a trying ordeal, but Cardon graduated with distinction.
Cardon suffers from divided loyalties. While he shares none with his former tormentor, he does care about the other Lamms he left behind. He has an extreme devotion to Sivanah and the clerics who rescued him, and he also feels strongly for the Acadamae and the people there who taught him so much. So far, his loyalties have never conflicted, but he knows the day may come when his benefactors at Veil House require something of him that may bring harm to the Acadamae - a day he fiercely dreads coming, as he has no idea what he will do.

Aliases/Identities

Cardon Quid, the real:

Description The real Cardon Quid is a wistful young man, who enjoys boyish good looks with carefree locks of blond hair, deep, dark eyes, and a strong jaw. When he smiles, dimples appear on his cheeks, and he knows exactly how to flash them. He is slight of build, with little musculature, and lean of frame, and dresses in poor street clothes, mostly so he can easily blend in when necessary. His only accessories are a myriad of scarves, thin Varisian fabrics, which serve as clothing accent, holy symbol, and weapon. Cardon is slow to trust, and always figuring out as many angles of every situation as he can muster.
Quirks and Traits Cardon speaks softly, almost at a whisper. He avoids meeting people’s gazes whenever possible.
Known Associates Cardon still keeps in regular touch with the clerics of Sivanah, especially Mistress Jarla, the head of the chapter and owner of Veil House in North Point.

Cardon the Wizard:

Description Cardon the Wizard is a distinguished and respectable graduate of the Korvosan Acadamae. He is friendly and easy-going, though he tends to shun social situations in favour of study and solitude when given the choice. He is quite open about his past, that he was an only child, and his parents were landowners outside Sandpoint who died of a sickness that took many. He went to live with his uncle Varius in Magnimar, a wealthy silversmith and bachelor who took Cardon in as his own son, and who sponsored him at the Acadamae.
Quirks and Traits Cardon the Wizard has a habit of fidgeting with his silk scarves when nervous or thinking.
Known Associates Other than his classmates, Cardon the Wizard knows few people in Korvosa. He is familiar with a trio of sorcerers, whom he had met several times when he first arrived at the Acadamae, and with whom he maintained a secret friendship. Cardon also discovered a small pub in North Point called the Wooden Hog during his fifth year of studies and struck up a platonic friendship with the lovely Anile, sole proprietress.

Quin:

Description Quin scurries about streets and alleyways of Midland, to all appearances an overgrown street urchin or pickpocket. The Korvosan Guard has stopped him several times, certain to find stolen property on his person, but always failing to do so. Quin is a familiar sight at the back doors of several bakeries and bistros, running errands in return for scraps of food.
Quirks and Traits Quin looks dirty, though he keeps himself fairly clean somehow. If he does need to swipe something from a storefront or pushcart, he creates a diversion, takes what he needs, and immediately stashes it someplace close until the uproar dies down.
Known Associates Years ago, Quin sometimes worked a two-man con with Argyle, a lad with quick fingers. Argyle would be about fifteen, now. Quin has also had several run-ins in Midland with Guardsman Healey.
