Me and my gaming group are just starting up a new campaign and I just rolled my stats. 10
Needless to say, it's impossible to roll above average on 2D6+6... Does anybody have any idea's on how I can make a decent char with this? We have a melee type already, nothing else. All books are allowed. I usually play spellcasters but that will be impossible I'm afraid with these stats. Thanks in advance! ![]()
We once had a bard like that as well. His dice rolls where all over the place. The session he introduced himself he hit one of our party members in the back (shooting into melee and botching). When we looked who was shooting us from behind, he threw his bow away and pointed towards a dead goblin "I got him guys!". ![]()
For fluff reasons I want to keep the Breastplate armor I acquired at low lvl's. Now I want to go to heavy armor and rebuild the Breastplate to a Full-Plate. I don't want any kind of reduction in price, I would even pay extra to get it done. I'd imagine it possible for a blacksmith since the heavy armor is measured and build for a specific creature anyhow. Using the, already build to fit, medium armor can't be that hard. Are there any precedents of this? Covered in the rules somewhere?

Jeraa wrote: I really wish people would stop saying that "dimension shattering" things happen whenever two extra- or non-dimensional spaces interact. Its not true in either Pathfinder or 3.0/3.5. Only bags of holding and portable holes do that, and they are the exception. I said it gave troubles in 3.x, never mentioned the dimension shattering part (except in combination with a globe of annihilation). But I believe the bag of holding would spill it's contents or rupture if you took it into another non-/extra- dimenstional space. EDIT: reread my original post and it could be read as if I thought that everything just goes BOOM, sorry if I sounded defensive about that. ![]()
I don't know about PF but in 3.5 you REALLY didn't want to put an extradimensional space in another extradimensional space. That never ended well and was even one of the ways to get rid of the Tarrasque (bag of holding and sphere of annihilation if I'm not mistaken). Is there a formula to the pricing now? Can't you just continue it? I'm away from books so can't really look at their pricing now. ![]()
Like Stiehl said: Talk to the DM; if that doesn't help, quit the game.
I once sat 6+ hours at a table waiting for an entry point in a very elaborate story. The session ended and I still didn't join the party. Never went back to that DM even though my wife loves it and still goes whenever they play. Having different viewpoints about gaming and playing is normal. Going home frustrated isn't. Good luck! ![]()
I do sympathize with you and understand the frustration. I'll give my +1 to Davick though. I used to be the player that always knew the rules better and even memorized all the monsters (in D&d3.5), the DM went looking for other pictures so I didn't tell the others what it's weaknesses are, ...
I grew out of it. Now we are at a point where we all have 15+ years of gaming behind us and the DM knows that I know the rules best. If he's in doubt, he looks at me and I tell the truth. He has great imagination but no head for the rules. We know that and we like it that way ;-) ![]()
Has anybody read the X-men episodes where Wolverine has lost his adamantium? After a while he goes into a mental regression. That is about how I envision your character at this point. He can act with others, he just doesn't see much reason to do so.

I read the thread to about the second page and then someone casted mind blank on me. From the rules: Quote:
Emphasis mine, and it's already established that picking up an item provokes. I would argue that this pretty much is RAW and settles the dispute no? edit: @Stynkk, the only thing the feat allows is to target enemies at reach, which is otherwise impossible. Attacking doesn't provoke (so the enemy with reach cannot be attacked by you, without the feat), picking up an item does (your shoulders, head, ... are vulnerable when you reach to grab something). ![]()
The link isn't working here at the workspot but I'll take a look at them this evening. Thx for the advice and info! I'll go fighter then to start with something simple and try to max the CMD. Two handed sounds nice and probably the closest to what I was trying to do. Any builds or feat progressions for those? ![]()
Is ultimate combat SRD? They could be using the same name (strange as it would be). Since u guys sort or less advised against to much multi classing, I think it's a bad idea to go Fighter6/Barbarian2 for that knockback? I also explained quite clearly to my GM what I wanted to do with the build and even told him what things I wouldn't allow in my games. He also knows I'm helping the other inexperienced member with a wizard or witch build. It's not my intention to inbalance the game, I just know the rest of the players like to optimize and I'll need a bit of 'mojo' to keep up... ![]()
Quote: I really need to speak against allowing 3.5 book with PF. I trust you and agree. My GM however insists that his first time GM'ing should be as least restrictive as possible (my personal opinion is that it should be the other way around). Quote: Also, iirc, there is a new Knockback feat in Ultimate Combat which you may want to look at. I don't have that book so I'll see if any of the other players has it. Can anybody tell me if I need to be large for that one and if it does the same? Thanks all for the nice ideas! ![]()
<tugs away the coppers> I'm dirt poor experienced at this game :P I'm at work so can't see the linkies at the moment.
I also get the feeling that prestige classing is a lot less interesting for martials, is that correct?
Sorry in advance if I'm comparing to much, it's just the only lead I have right now. And thanks Blackbloodtroll and Muser for the quick answers (btw: have fun at the game tonight troll)! ![]()
Quote: perform combat maneuvers at a distance with a bow. I can bull rush with a bow? Darn! I really want to play a high CON tank that just takes the hits with some DEX for the AoO's. CON>STR>DEX was what I was thinking (rolls, no point buy, so I don't know stats yet). If I don't have to take a chain spike or meteor hammer, that saves me a EWP feat, wich is nice. What book is the Lore Warden Fighter from and is there a consensus on a good build? Any guides I need to look at?
![]()
Oh, I'm sorry I didn't explain that more clearly: Yeah, I'm used to the fighter tripping, disarming, bull rushing, ... the evil guys so they don't get to the wizard behind me. The build would've done some real damage in 3.5 as well, but the main intention was to bull rush people away from where I didn't want them. Battlefield control first

Hello all, Just starting my first campaign in PF after playing 3.0 & 3.5 for 10+ years and trying out 4.0 2 game sessions. We are starting a new campaign and we're going by the core books of PF and some stuff (DM specific) from 3.5. I never got the chance to play a Dungeon Crasher Fighter in 3.5 (from the Dungeonscape book) and the DM is actually allowing that and the Knockback feat (from Races of Stone) now. Is this going to work the same way it did in 3.5? Are fighters still supposed to just block the way to the squishier backline?
Thanks in advance! |
