if the glue was applied to a stone on the tip of an arrow, and the arrow was fired at someone with the intention of sticking to them...would that be possible?

I understand attack penalties would apply, and that if the stone was ripped off before it had a full round to set it would be useless

When a character is sleeping while on a journey and has friends standing watch, how much of their gear would they normally sleep in?

someone suggested to me everything besides armor, but that seems a bit uncomfortable.

i'm just curious how much gear people imagine their characters sleeping in.

would an anti magic field or a dead magic zone reset the 1 week timer for a ring of sustenance?

How many cteatures can be trampled with a single action?

Like if a large creature tramples a man, who is in a cluster of people, will everyone in his path get trampled?

a player proposed this and i have question the price of it...

bracers with a constant aspect of the falcon (using bracers of falcon's aim) so that 4000 gold

then wants to add a constant gravity bow, also 1st level spell with same duration so thats 4000 x 1.5 for second effect = 6000

So it's Bracers with constant Aspect of falcon and Gravity bow for 10,000 gold

what gets me is that both of those prices are calculated with a 1st level caster, and you can't make item's until 3rd level

I am making a mad dog barbarian, which gets an animal companion, and i am stuck between a hippopotamus and a Tyrannosaurus

The Tyrannosaurs seems better statwise in almost every respect, but the hippo is 10ft faster (only thing better) and has trample (with no listed damage)

is there any reason a hippo could be better choice than a t-rex, stats aside?

does a hedge witch's spontaneous healing ability let her cast cure spells from her list, or at cleric cure spell progression

for example, using a 3rd level spell to cast cure serious wounds

if i crit while charging with a lance, i do double damage and crit for x3

so am i doing x5 damage or x6?

is there anyway for I can use a reach weapon (which are all 2 handers from what i can see) in 1 hand so i can still use a shield?

would the speak with animal spell enable you to speak with a wildshaped druid?

My question is, what is the "rotting flesh" the trait allows you to eat?

To be more specific...

would you eat the flesh raw or would it need to be cooked?

could you eat fresh meat with no ill side effects or does it need to be rotting for you to eat it safely?

If the rotting meat was from a creature who was diseased, would you need to save against the disease?

i could have swore i read somewhere that when a druid wildshapes he does NOT change types and remains humanoid or whatever he was before wildshaping, but now that i am reading to make sure i didn't misread anything i can't find that statement anywhere

If a druid wildshaped into a dog, and wanted to convince people he was a dog for surprising enemys or scouting.....would he get some sort of bonus or is it really a GM call?

as i understand it, if a summoner's eidolon dies he can't resummon it until the next day.....but if he dismisses it because of something like a city not wanting a monster inside....can he resummon and dismiss as many times as he pleases?

A glamer changes all the sensory qualitys

so if i had glamered armor on and i was walking through town....i understand i would still make noise, but would people be able to say "oh, he obviously has glamered armor on because he sounds like a man in armor"

Same with touch, if i was arrested would the guard grab me and say "oh, you have glamered full plate on...thank god i noticed"

is it possible to have our camping fire inside a tent? like the top would be vented for smoke, but would it be like super dangerous.

and are tents thick enough to hide the light from the fire?

it says you need 3 times of the lvl of enchantment, and the requirements for the especial ability you want to add.....does this include Craft arms and armor

am i correct in my understanding that ANYONE can find both magic and mechanical traps and disable mechanical traps, but only characters with trapfinding can disable magic traps

This recently came up and there was a disagreement.....

Round 1: Monk draws Kama and attacks enemy A (killing it)
Round 2: Monk throws Shuriken at enemy B
Round 3: Enemy C runs past Monk provoking AoO

The question is, would the monk be able to take the AoO with the kama?

the argument was that throwing shurkien uses the primary hand and since the monk never switched the kama to his off hand he had to of dropped it, or it is in his offhand, which you cannot makes AoO from

If i use both my grapple action via Greater Grapple to deal unarmed damage, do i get the Boar Stance rend?

are there rules covering how far a character on flat terrain, in the middle of the day can see?

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

If i am medium, taking up 1 square on the battle grid, and i cast enlarge person on myself.......which 3 squares do i grow into? do i decide whether right or left and forward or back? or is there a default?

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

Round 1 : I grapple
Round 2: I maintain my grapple with the Pinning option
Round 3: do i need to pin again to maintain the pin? or can i use damage option and my opponent stays pinned until they escape?

I thought i needed to pin every round to keep them pinned, but everyone else at the table says they read it differently, so i am curious what the correct answer is

1 person marked this as a favorite.

would it be too lenient to let a players use bestow curse on themselves to make their skin taste horrible so animals wont try to eat them? or if they do they will vomit?

They came up with the idea when a dinosaur swallowed one of them

I just want to make sure i am understanding a difference....

With the fly spell: being attacked in the air or collision don't have a chance of making you fall because you arent flying with wings

Wings of flying: you will have a chance to fall from collision or attacks because even though its an item made using the fly spell...you now use wings

and if i am correct, would it be a stretch to create wings of flying that are instead something like cape of flying that doesn't use wings?

Ok, i'm confused on an aspect of craft....i know i am making a mistake, i just don't know where

The prereq for putting enchantments on armor and weapons is having a lvl 3 times the enchantment....

+1 = lvl 3
+5 = lvl 15

but then what about the special abilities, that allows you to get up to a +10 bonus

+10 = lvl 30......at some point do you need to just take the +5dc for not meeting the prereq?

I just hit level 5 with my wizard, and i am not usre which feat to take first..my bonus feat is used up, so i only have my normal feat left to choose

Arcane Strike (i use my weapon a lot)
or
Craft Arms and Armor (would save me and my group a lot of money)

Whichever i don't take now, i will be taking at lvl 7. My group all thinks i should take the craft so i can enchant all our gear for 1/2 price, and wait on arcane strike because even though i use my weapons a lot i will always be lowest damage in the group.

I WANT the arcane strike, but i am in a brutal campaign and wonder if i would even survive two more levels without my whole groups gear getting a buff.

i read in the book fire would bypass parchment and sonic would bypass crystal and glass, but doesn't acid bypass everything?

I want to make sure i am understanding it right.....

I want to craft a normal suit of Half-Plate

600gp = 6000sp

Lets say i have a total of +14 to the check because i am awesome, rolling a 20 every week (because i am awesome) nets me 612sp of progress so that's roughly 10 weeks

I could increase the DC by 10, and if i still rolled a 20 every week, that would get me 952, so 7 weeks.

So, if you wanted to make yourself a suit of armor you would need to be willing to take quite the break

If a wizard with spider climb still active on him is backed against a wall by an orc capable of making multiple attacks of opportunity, and the only escape is up the wall. How many attacks will he take if he moves straight up the wall?

1 because the the square is he starts on is the same space as the wall right behind him, or 2 because the wall is a separate 5 foot square?

and if the answer is 2, is it possible to jump to bypass that square?

"A creature with a swim speed can move through
water at its indicated speed without making Swim checks.
It gains a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform a
special action or avoid a hazard."

What is a special action? i always thought they just got a +8 to swim but it looks like i am wrong

and

"You can’t take 10 on a Swim check in stormy water, even
if you aren’t otherwise being threatened or distracted."

"The creature can always
choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or
endangered when swimming."

so can a creature with a swim speed take a 10 even in stormy water?

I know most of the magic item slots for a snake are ridiculous (gloves, boots), but I'm sure there are some they can wear. I asked my DM and he told me that if it's creative and would be wearable i could custom make an item.

So what are some ideas for items that a snake could wear?

Would armor spikes get your Strength bonus to damage, i know if you attack with them they would...but what about the automatic damage from making a successful grapple check?

I have been told a thousand times that the CL on an item is not a prerequisite for creating the item, and that makes sense BUT i was reading the books and i saw

Caster Level (CL): The next item in a notational entry gives
the caster level of the item, indicating its relative power. The
caster level determines the item’s saving throw bonus, as well
as range or other level-dependent aspects of the powers of
the item (if variable). It also determines the level that must
be contended with should the item come under the effect of a
dispel magic spell or similar situation.
For potions, scrolls, and wands, the creator can set the
caster level of an item at any number high enough to cast
the stored spell but not higher than her own caster level. For
other magic items, the caster level is determined by the item
itself. In this case, the creator’s caster level must be as high as
the item’s caster level (and prerequisites may effectively put a
higher minimum on the creator’s level)

on page 460 of the CRB

it says your CL must be as high...so is it required?

Just to make sure i am understand the RAW...

Bob grapples Pete with his normal CMB, and beats Pete's CMD initiating a grapple

Pete trys to break the grapple with his Normal CMB and fails

Bob maintains the grapple with a +5 to his CMB because Pete didn't break free right away, succeeds and gets to do one of the many things that you can do in a grapple with that same check

Pete trys to reverse the grapple with his normal CMB and succeeds and that is his standard action, just reversing the grapple

The 2 main points i am trying to clarify is the +5 to maintain a grapple, and that 1 check maintains and lets you take a action in the grapple

Why is the CL of a amulet of natural armor 5th when you only need to be third to make the +1 version, and CL 8th for a belt of giant STR when you could make the +2 version at 3rd?

do you need to work to maintain a friendly attitude with your animal companion? If you keep sending your dog into combat and it keeps almost dieing, it might start to not trust you?

1)In the core rule book under estimating the price of items under "spell effect, use-activated or continuous" they use the example of lantern of revealing

the price for that type of item is caster level x spell level x 2000 but it is modified by the duration of the spell.....it looks like they never modified the price according to duration for lantern of revealing and it makes me feel like i am missing something....am i not understanding something?

2)There's a section on adding new abilities to items, so assuming i had the money could i create a Belt of dex +2....then later add the ability of a lantern of invisibility, and then later make it let the wearer use dimension door 3/day?

I am thinking of taking Craft wondrous items, and i was thinking it would be better for me stat wise, to use a profession, but i cant really think of a profession that would make items

Wands and staves can be created with woodcutting but i don't know if that would apply for wonderous items.

also, can you create anything that gives +2 int, or does it need to be a headband?

From what i have read, the only real restriction for potions is that they cannot have a range of "personal". So if a character created a potion of obscuring mist (i assume it would be called an oil if you don't drink it), how would it be used? would you pour it on the floor and the spell would center on that square, could you throw it and have it break and center on that square?

What about calm animals? would pouring it on the ground simply let you target animals from that square or would you need to douse the animals in the oil?

Chaotic, Evil, Good, and Lawful Spells: "A Druid can't cast spells of an alignment opposed to her own or her deity's (if she has one). Spells associated with particular alignments are indicated by the chaotic, evil, good, and lawful descriptors in their spell descriptions."

So if the Druid is true neutral, do they have no restriction OR can they not cast any spells with with any of those descriptors?

I made a druid, and i have a pretty high handle animal skill by this point

my question is, can i give commands to other peoples animals?

i figure at most i would need to push them but, if someone was riding their horse by me could i push it to stop, or to perform with the rider on its back?

If i encountered a guard dog, could i give it the "down" command and simply walk past?

and also, could i like secretly teach tricks to the horses in the stables at night when no one is looking while staying at a keep?
