Backstory:
Raised to a family of merchants in the deserts to the west of Katapesh, Caius never had much of a mind for the family business. The business was the location and extraction of a rare flower that could be distilled into an elixir that grants near-eternal life. Though he only was raised by them until the age of 11, he still remembers their faces. During a political movement, they were targeted by assassins and the family estate scorched.
A local noble was able to smuggle the child away to an old friend named Haleen in Katapesh. Taking a small amount of money from the child's former family and providing it to Haleen, she saved the money for him. While revenge wasn't constant in his mind, he believed one day he would be able to gather a group and take over the old family business.

Current:
Before Haleen went missing, she had taught Caius how to use a blade, and even gave him an identity. Caius began to think something was up when he found a note with the remaining money left over from his inheritance, saying to forget about her. But that wasn't going to happen, taking the money and outfitting himself with the best equipment he could find; he'd set out for the expedition to the village.
